1st Half of Season - 8/10, Goggins God Tier, Nolan kills it, Great Intro & Pacing, Action & Writing, Fascinating Character Setups 2nd Half of Season - 6/10, Goggins God Tier, Tone falters a bit, Rushed Ending, Weak Romance, Hilarious Brotherhood vs NCR "Battle", Maximus Underdeveloped Season 1 Overall Rating - 7/10 Really Great Adaptation, Better than Halo, less than TLOU Season1, Looking Forward to Season 2! It certainly always feels good to have the EXACT same opinion as my audience on things, it doesn't always work out that way! I don't feel a 7/10 for Fallout Season 1 is all that awful of us. We are pretty hard on this stuff, we gave a 2/10 to Twisted Metal S1 which yall LOVED! 🤪 But much love guys! Thank you for keeping it civil so far in comments!! (minus a few of you)

It seems to me contrary to what Joe and guys think that they always planning wrapping up the story in season 2; that any sense they got of rushing the story last episode has less to do with the pace but more to do with their dislikes of hanging story threads between seasons. I can also agree that they didn't show enough of the action during the battle between the NCR and the brotherhood.

To clarify something, TV show productions are very different from movie productions, we don’t work on episodes sequentially, the production schedule is kind of semi-overlapping. That’s why different episodes have different directors and writers. However episode directors and writers have little influence and control on how the story plays out, “writers or directors of the last few episodes have to resolve fix the whole thing“ simply don’t happen or very very rarely happens. The whole story arc and outlines for each episodes are finished even before they start shooting the first episode. In my experience, the same team worked on the first three episodes is akin to the situation of traditional TV pilot, so the producer can give the final go ahead on full production. Think of episode directors more like Art directors or supervisors on movie productions, and writers are usually just working on details and dialogues. If you don’t like how some colors or shots from some episodes look, or how some actors act from particular episodes then yeah that’s on episode directors. If you don’t like the story of certain episodes and think the “quality” of some storylines are subpar, that’s all on the show runner. It has nothing or very little to do with how many directors worked on the show.

while it being "fun" is subjective, you have the right to claim so, you cannot seriously say that it is in the same spirit of the fallout games. the theme is so far gone. it is the constant light hearted marvel-esque humour that should be glaring to anyone who has played the games. this is obvious due to the incessant nature of the humour. no ones denying that there is humour in fallout, only that the style and overpowering nature of the humour in the show is a stark comparison to the games that we all loved. this ontop of the ridiculous writing, directing, and shameless retconning, it shouldnt be a surprise that some fans of fallout, or fans of quality movies and television take serious issue with these things, and the shear amount of ad hominem or otherwise vicious responses to this criticism is the real shame in all this.

@charlie7mason 5 ай бұрын
Exactly, just because they planned on doing it doesn't mean they were successful. Especially as you put it, Coop's wife going to such great lengths to ensure their daughter makes it to one of the 'good' vaults. As pre-show Fallout lore stands, the Chinese are supposed to have possibly been the ones to drop the bomb, so it is likely they caught Vault-Tec by surprise with very little warning time. The fact that Coop's looking for his wife and daughter means that there's a possibility they were still able to make it despite the pre-emptive nuke plan gone awry. Heck, for all we know, the Chinese could've had spies who revealed the Vault-Tec plan and decided to begin it themselves.

"The tone was all over the place"... umm, are you new to Fallout? There are plenty of harrowing quests and environmental storytelling beats, mixed in with a ton of goofy quests and environmental storytelling beats. Fallout has never been a "one tone" type of story. "They conveniently find the head"... they showed her put a tracker in the head, showed the word "TRACKER" in huge letters on the pip-boy (not "Fall Out Boy", Joe...), and she brings it up in a later conversation that she did, in fact, put a tracker in the head. "They built up to this big, epic battle and the battle was short and underwhelming"... they didn't build up the battle at all. There was ONE scene, where the BoS says "Lets go get the head", and it is plainly clear that these regular old raiders have 0 chance against a literal army with tanks (power armor). Not sure if you guys just marathoned the back half of the show when you were tired or burned out or what, but you missed crucial storytelling moments and completely misunderstood the existing tone and lore of Fallout.

Wow, I enjoyed the show a lot more than you guys did! For me, I loved how the show depicted the insanity and sometimes horror of the world, all while embracing the silliness that is characteristic of Fallout. It just felt like Fallout to me. If they had done it differently, I don't think it would have captured that essence. As for the lore continuity, you have to remember that Fallout's story has never been entirely reliable. So if the dates or details don't add up perfectly, I don't see it as a huge problem. After all, there's no internet or reliable media in the wasteland - just a few radio stations - so the source of information is often just stories from wanderers. And let's face it, that's not the most reliable source! So yeah, take everything in the games and now the show with a grain of salt. History was never clean and always distorted.

I agree the action got a little weaker in the later episodes, but I don't agree with the gravity of the reveal being bland. I mean Lucy goes from a fish out of water, to in that last episode having her world... blown away. the reveal of the mother I saw coming from the moment she walks in the room. I was like omg no... but that whole reveal in that episode I was heartbroken for Lucy. So i'm like you I really don't see where/why their opinions fell off. To me I gotta say my thoughts align more with the Critical Drinker than AJ and crew on this. I went into this show expecting to se Fallout version of Halo, and for me Fallout is how you do a game adaptation right. I get the where they say that they kind of retcon stuff, but its the kind of thing that could be wiped from the story with another "shady hills" thing. We've seen them do similar things in the games. For me it worked in the games, and I still feel it worked in the show.

@@gambello1195 Haha, very funny. He could've at least given his opinions on Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but he even lacks knowledge about the events of those games (evident from how he is oblivious about the implications that can be drawn from what's on the chalkboard in ep 6, and seemingly has no idea that the NCR expanded into other parts of California and into Nevada). He claims that "Fallout lore is being retconned and being written/replaced" at the beginning of this video during his Season 1 overview, but doesn't go into detail. Joe's lack of knowledge about proper terms that are explicitly said IN THE SHOW, even though he took notes is probably the most damning evidence, if you ask me. For example, he mistakenly says "med-pack" instead of "stimpak", and even thinks that the Mr. Handy robot (Snip-Snip) was equipped with AN AXE when attempting to harvest Lucy's organs. He misremembers so many scenes throughout this two-part review of the Fallout TV show, it's laughable. I was actually excited to hear his (and Other Joe's) thoughts on the show, but him fumbling SO HARD when trying to recap what happens in each episode makes it hard to watch and listen to.

@@BennyGoId yeah could be he just read online people are saying it retcons stuff which it really doesnt. what comes to misremembering things, he's been doing that with everything, even things he truly know. seems he just got poor or selective memory.

I think it was what i wanted for an adaptation. I didnt expect some major high budget thing. I wanted fanservice and i got fanservice. 9 outta 10 for me.

9/10 for fan service?

@@itsandy88 yes. Give the fans what they want not what normies, mom's, dad's, kid's want. Disney does this all the time and it turns out awful.

Didn't feel like it was a fanservice fest. The show did more than merely that. But it's fine if you think this way, at least you enjoyed it. What I'm saying is that I think that even non-fans will like the show.

I like the idea of Maximus growing bigger and angrier to the point that he wants revenge on everyone

His character looked like it was going somewhere but fell off after the first 4 episodes

Yeah but his character never goes anywhere. He constantly fails upward. You think he learns to be this altruistic character by the time he takes the armor. Then he flubs it by reverting to be an unstable coward again. I hate it.

He's EASILY the worst most un-likable character I've seen on a show in awhile.

@@bigbeefy111 yeah his character is a walking contradiction By the end of it tbh . First four eps he strives to be that hero that saved him, but then he some how wants to kill the bully he befriended instead of maybe holding him still or tying him up.

Maximus is my favourite character because he actually acts like someone would act in that situation. Not some unrealistic badass, superhero just a normal bloke who is trying to do the right thing.
