The thing is that we had a pandemic when PS5 released. It was a perfect time for scalpers to mass buy and sell overpriced. People were desperate to get their hands on the new console (also the 3000 Nvidia series), especially when you had to stay under quarantine. As a PC gamer its insane that consoles are still in the dark ages. 60 fps is the BARE MINIMUM. Im so used to playing games at 100+ fps on my pc that now even 60 makes me go "ugh...". Though yes, you do get used to it after a while and its not terrible, unlike 30. I have no idea how people play games at 30 fps, not only does it look like a slideshow, even the inputs are so unresponsive. Its just a terrible experience.

I think it actually came from a "we aren't a giant tech conglomerate like sony or microsoft", and Iwata's documented love of Apple. The latter's Jobsian philosophy focuses more on how people use hardware (at least in Iwata's application) as compared to raw power especially at around 2004 when PPC lost its efficiency edge. Nintendo didn't have the power of companies like AMD/NVIDIA (no, Flipper/Hollywood (GCN/Wii GPUs) don't count, since they were made by ArtX who was bought out by ATI and share no lineage with R300/Xenos (ATI's then chips). )

Neither of these RE games are "smaller" or less "realistic", nope, they were simply made on a more efficient engine. With inflation i don’t think its that bad my only problems would be it not having a disc drive and them still using zen 2. But we get a lot more gpu power and memory bandwidth plus 2tb of storage. It not gonna help games that are cpu bound like space marines 2. At a bare minimum Sony should’ve use a 5000 series chip. I buy everything and like collecting even though i have 2 beast gaming rigs 7950x3d 4090 and 7800x3d nitro 7900xtx i play many games on console because i like buying a physical copy. Many times i end up buying 2 copies of the same game to play on consoles and pc. But if i can play games at 1440p or 4k at 60fps I’m perfectly happy on a console. And we will probably see more games run 120hz with the Pro. I have a series x, ps5, og switch, oled switch, steam deck 512gb, asus ally, and a couple laptops 13900hx 4080, 10875h 4070S, 8750h 1070. So im all in on this gaming hoppy and just love to play games and collect gpu’s and pc parts hell some of my tinker systems are still decently powerful 5950x Taichi 6800xt, 5800x3d ftw 3 3080ti, 5700x strix 2080, 3600 nitro 5700xt, 9900ks strix 2080ti. I dont think the pro is for everyone as you can see by it sells, mainline consoles sale out fast but mid gen refresh not as much. Only time will tell and I’m wondering if Microsoft gonna respond.

The good thing is, I feel like those people make of the great minority of gamers. I think most gamers, especially now a days know to look for a better price or wait. I wait on most games that I really want like 90% of the time for a sale, for a decrease, anything. Same with consoles. Hoping more people do the same

@@CrazeeAdam That is the most sensitive thing to do, and that is the main reason that they are going digitial, because Sony has the monopoly in their digital store, now I don't have a PS5, but I have heard that they don't decrease prices in their store and the saddest part is that, no other store can sell digital codes for their store, so there is no competition.

Upscaling is both a blessing and a curse for the gaming industry since Nvidia first released their version DLSS 😂 it just leads to unoptimized games and lazy Devs who let companies like Nvidia, AMD, Intel and now Sony to push these technologies

Thing with upscaling is the processor works harder to complete more task, which generates more heat. I would not be shocked if this system has some thermal issues or fan noises. I take native over upscaled any day.

They did the research and found out that 75% of their market preferred 60 fps compared to maximized graphics. A smart person would take this and say: "hmm, maybe we shouldn't waste so much time on realism and graphics and instead focus on making a fun game with a defined style that isn't so graphically demanding and ages poorly when the technology gets better." And then you have Sony. 700$ for a box that does the thing that only 25% of your audience wants. Edit: 9:55 THEY JUST TURNED OFF THE MOTION BLUR!!!

Its for those who want 60 fps more consistent and prettier. The 25% does not care about fluidity. I would hope that the old games with 900p get a sharper image as well.

Don't kid yourselves. WE ALL LIKE HI FIDELITY IMMERSIVE GORGEOUS games. If the devs did what want, dropped visuals, so you can run 60fps, at 4k etc, then people would complain the graphics and immersion is not great. Anyway there is no competition right now, so they can price it like that. If someone else comes out with competition at a lower price, then they'll adjust.
