I think this movie would have worked better as a Twilight Zone episode.
@kevtb8742 жыл бұрын
Exactly this. The ONLY thing it has going for it is the concept and it doesn't even explore it very well or do a good job having interesting human characters come to terms with their situation and what that means. It just ticks off a few boxes, fills time with crap dialogue and then throws in a twist (not in rhe original story) because M Night literally has to now or he might stop existing. When I saw the trailer in theaters, I really thought it was gonna be a Jordan Peele movie. It seemed like his kinda style with his recent movies. Makes me wonder how much better the movie would’ve been if it was directed by him.

It has nothing to do with black people though so he wouldn’t pick it up. Every horror movie he does has to be some commentary on race. Which I mean hey if that’s what you want to do go for it but you could be easily even greater than you already are.

The problem with his films is that, his films aren’t worth anything other than the ending. And his endings aren’t clever. The ending only feels like a twist because he puts in pointless scenes and dialogue in his movies. It’s like he is saying “check out that bird in the tree” and then his ending is somehow “We were in limbo this whole time!”. That’s not how you do a twist. A twist is a building a world with rules that either make sense or doesn’t make sense; and then a twist is filling in the gaps that better explain the world. Like The Prestige, it’s a world about stage magic and it builds this idea that real magic might exist. Then the twist happens and it pays off because it fits the ideas the prestige gives. Shamalan doesn’t have that same execution. He‘ll make a tell a story about one thing, then have a bit of dialogue about something completely different. He puts enough dialogue into it to “make a movie” and then gives you the ending so it feels like a twist. See this butterfly? Looks so nice doesn’t it? TWIST: A dinosaur appears!

They didn't get tan because the skin cells repair themselves too fast. It's not time going faster, it's the metabolic processes of the cells. In order for them to get a sun tan the ultraviolet rays would have to come down on them at a rate thousands of times higher. The parts you missed that don't make sense is how they would have had to take thousands of trips to the bathroom within 30 minutes after eating that much food and aging that fast. Also in order for them to survive they would have to eat an entire sandwich every 5 seconds since 30 minutes is a year.

Yeah, I'm with Alex on this one. Just because the kids were aged to their mid 40s or so, doesn't mean that they would automatically be acting like adults. Unless you guys skipped something from the movie, we haven't seen anything about this magnetic field that enables rapid mental growth and development. It has all been physical aging and progression of illnesses, genetic or otherwise. Those kids should still be acting and thinking like toddlers even in their aged up state.

@ellya37753 жыл бұрын
You wankers have to listen to some Morbid Angel. Chuck didn't invent the genre stop doing this weird Chuck cult. Death was just one of the puzzle pieces in the creation of extreme metal/death metal. Hell, even Sodom came in earlier, but few people know how important their early material was in influencing. Lets not forget about Hellhammer/Celtic Frost either, and the countless other bands that pioneered TOGETHER: Necrophagia, even Slayer, Thanatos(NL), Poison(germany), Messiah, Sepultura, Master/Death Strike, Massacre (Kam Lee wrote the first true death metal riffs for "Mantas" pre-Death), Slaughter, Vulcano, 666(czech), Necrodeath, Necrovore, INSANITY, Savage Death, Black Sheperd (Belgium), NME, the list goes on. Not hating on you guys but before you can go on the internet and say things as facts do more homeworks. Cheers

Theory: what if Madrid (the young blonde woman who carried the drinks to the guests after they got off the van at the resort, played by Francesca Eastwood), was the one survivor that Shymalan claimed had drowned after swimming through the coral? It doesn't really make sense how someone would drown after already making it all the way out of the coral & out of the time altering beach. Plus he was waiting to see if Trent & Maddox would surface in the safe water, probably so that he could stop them from reaching the resort. But because they took so long, he assumed they died & the man over the walkie talkie said they can't afford to have another issue. My guess if that he may have captured Madrid after she swam to shore, & they could be drugging & manipulating her. She did seem a little off from the beginning, especially after Trent & Maddox arrive to knock the drinks out of her hands at the end of the film. She had a bizarre look on her face, like realization.

Or at the very least a mask/helmet. And since the calcium deficiency girl was in the caves for a while, I thought she’d get adjusted like they said, and end up following the ones with the suit and end up ripping it apart thinking they just wanted to leave to get away from her.
