Yes, so the whole reason the console's graphics and various mechanics suck, is because of an extremely unpopular feature, that was almost immediately rescinded. Meaning, we pay less, but got less of a console in the long run.

That employee at some point he said : "We have seen the reaction from people to the xbox reveal, and that gave us information on what the people wanted for their console" Then people started to think, "oh they had DRM and they removed it at the last moment". Which ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT MEAN THAT. It could also mean "we are going to make a marketing strategy and tell people about our no drm policies, we had no intention to do that at first, but after xbox one reveal reaction, we have something to win by doing this". It could have also mean : "we have seen the backlash about xbox one trying too hard to be an "all in one" system that is not just about games, we have seen people wanting companys to speak more about game so we are going to speak only about game in our marketing campaign" And there is thousand of other things it could have meant. I have seen thousand of links like that one, and none of them are based on actual confirmation or quotation, they are based on rumors.

This says otherwise: As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the recent Killer Instinct tournament showed us all that Microsoft never really did remove the DRM from their games. In the last round of the tournament, all of the players involved had to stop and sign in on Xbox Live just to prove they owned the game before the competition could finish. This may only be on first-party Xbone titles, but it’s enough to show us that Microsoft was at least partially lying about taking out DRM.

Ok.. the whole thing about "WE DID IT!" is bullsht. SONY did it because they didn´t follow suit. Had sony done the same, we would be SUFFERING and Microsoft would have never reversed that horrid DRM. Sony took advantage of this Microsoft horrible idea and decided to be heroes, and it paid off. Microsoft was forced out of this policies in order to remain competitive. Look at how many games on both platforms are digital only with DRM and increasing every day. Digital games are cheaper for the distributor and that's usually passed on to the buyer with discounts (a la Steam and Live Gold/PS+) Physical formats are on the way out and the industry is sneaking it in more with each day, until one day, all the people who throw fits about not being able to have physical games will realize that almost no games get physical releases anymore.

Yes, PC does DRM on 90% of titles, but I don't need a permanent connection to the internet in order to play or use my pc (or Steam). Digital games in most cases are *NOT* cheaper on console, they just keep that money, and in some cases they are more expensive, unlike Steam. And yes, the industry wants to ditch physical formats, Microsoft wanted to do it first in order to get more exclusives from the evil *EA* and the likes, but fortunately and because their competition didn't do the same, it *BACKFIRED* and at least at lauch along with their *XBONE spy KINECT* thing they went to *HELL* and the people in charge *FIRED*. Hope they learned.

The consumer outrage probably had nothing to do with it. What was more likely is this: MS said, reluctantly, "we're going to do blah blah blah" and the reaction was "What the bleep bleep bleep?!" Then Sony did a come-from-behind blow and said "we're not going to do blah blah blah" and the response was "yay, Sony is not doing blah blah blah so I'll buy Sony's console." MS then look and said "It looks like they're going to give they're money to Sony because they're not doing the blah blah blah that we are, so we'd better stop doing the blah blah blah." I'm sure it was actually competition from Sony and not fan outrage that motivated MS to change. They only care about fan outrage when they think it's going to make them lose money.

PS4 has The Last of Us (ranked best game ever), Uncharted series (U2 is amongst the top 10 games ever), The God of War, Infamous series and Uncharted 4 which is coming soon. Xbone has just Halo 5 (not very highly rated)??? Gears of War ain't there in Xbone afaik. Rise of Tomb Raider is just a temporary exclusive for XBoners. Even Titanfall is on PC. So why should someone buy XBone when there are no exclusive games? Can someone please explain? Also in Ps4 gamer can play game from the discs with only a minor part of the game installing. I prefer PC simply because of excellent backwards compatibility and the freedom to do what I want, way more cheap games, and the fact that I've never actually touched a gamepad since the days of Nintendo Entertainment System so I'm pretty much accustomed to KB/M. However other than these personal preferences, I've nothing against the console or console gamers. I respect all platforms. Although yeah I do agree that TLOU should at least be available to PC, if not Xbox. I mean the direct competitor to PS is Xbox only considering that PC and console gamers are two distinct crowds and they usually stick to their respective systems.

RANT: I remember hearing about all this bs before it came out, but I never picked one up until the next year sometime in December. What gets me though, is how the fuck it is widely accepted that you are FORCED to download and install not one, but every. Single. Game. I own over FORTY games for my 360, probably even more than that. On Xbox One, I've bought a total of FOUR disc games, AC black flag and unity were downloads that came with it, totaling SIX games that I own. I have 17% of my default hard drive space left since you need to install them to fucking play. If you compare this to the PS4 you can't even argue against it being better since it allows you to own and play more than, I'd say ten, maybe fifteen games without deleting and re-downloading them. Why was this not an issue, and no uproar at launch is what I don't understand. Isn't the ENTIRE purpose of a console to streamline the experience? Why the fuck would I even buy an Xbox One when it's now essentially a lesser, complete shit version of steam. Be careful now, if you say exclusives, once they release too many, you won't be able to play them all.

Hey joe, I'm glad Microsoft changed there policies but after 6 to 12 months or 20 million consoles sold what's to say they turn around and say they're bring back DRM and all the other bull-shit from before. Cos if you read in there terms it says Microsoft has the right to change there policies at any time and if they have tired to rip xbox fans off once, guess what they'll try again. I own a PC and love Steam, but it's ironic that I raise my fist in the air for "tradable, no DRM, hard-copy games" but then use Steam which is almost completely DRM/digital-only gaming. The only thing that would make Steam perfect is if they offered, for an additional price, the ability to buy a cd rom with your game and a passcode to forever use it. Regardless...maybe the thing that'll, ironically, SAVE consoles is the ability to own hard-copy games....

If you connect your xbox one with your pc, you can watch youtube from your pc to your xbox1/Tv. From popcorn time i can download movies and with this app Xbox video, i can stream movies from my pc to my xbox and to my tv with good quality(1080p) and alot of things more.

Yeah, I've seen Sunset Overdrive...that's pretty much the only game I've seen on One that's really good...I'm a big open world character maker type gamer and I'm interested in that but now there's Bloodborne...ugh, so many to try...but you're right. I think that's the biggest problem though. Generally consoles are easier because all consoles are generally equal, but PC gaming can be messy business what with all the brands and specs and the specs games need and whatnot. Adding to the fact that PCs are multipurpose, so you got a bunch of other things that you need your PC for cluttering your space. That's just my observation. Not saying PC gaming sucks or anything, just pointing out problems that probably deter the masses.

I have a super powerful PC but I've had my eye on the new Steam console as should everyone else. No other resources to reallocate and so forth. It's promising gaming at 1080p with 60fps. If it supports things like Nvidia Physx, Tessalation and other enhancements it might be the best thing consoles have ever seen and might kill the others. I for one would get it if the controller is anything like the XBOX's.

You know what surprises me? That at some point during development, the people in charge of making the new Xbox sat around a conference table spitballing ideas. And during one of these sessions, somebody came up with the idea for the DRM policies. And everybody whose opinion mattered sitting at that table said, "Yes, we think this is a great idea." "Yes, we think this is going to sell." "Yes, people WANT this." Of course now we know they reversed the idea because clearly it WASN'T selling. There's no other reason why they would do a complete 180 on the policies than the console getting really bad presale numbers. But stop and think of the mentality of all the management people who had to say yes to the DRM model for it to make it to production. They're all business people. Not a single one of them is a gamer. If they were gamers, they would've realized how astronomically horrific the idea of a DRM console was, and they never would have tried it. Sony understood that. Nintendo understands that, being the only major console maker that is soley a game company left. Aside from Nintendo, every other game console is made by companies that are not game companies. The future of console gaming is largely in the hands of businessmen and not gamers. That is what is truly terrifying. The DRM policy was not concieved by asking the question "How can we advance gaming to the next level and make it better?" It came as an answer to the question "How can we milk more money out of game players?" Used games behind a pay wall? Mandatory Xbox Live membership or the console doesn't work? Being forced to buy new games most of the time? That's not the next level of gaming. It's squeezing blood from a stone. How can MORE restrictions be good? Especially in a world where other services are gaining increasingly more freedom? Look at video streaming services. (Not endorsing them.) Used to be you could only do it from your TV. Now you can do from your TV, smart phone, PC, and probably kitchen appliances as soon as they figure that out. And Microsoft, who facilitates a lot of those very services through their OS driven devices, wanted to shackle their game console with the very restrictions their other devices are being freed from. WHAT KIND OF SENSE DOES THAT MAKE? None. At all. The console, as it was then, was not a step forward. It was two steps back. No matter how much the people who whine about family sharing gripe. Guess what sheeples? They were dangling a shiny lure in front of you with one hand and taking lots away with the other hand, and you all took it hook, line, and sinker! For those of you still pining about family sharing, you'll never understand that you've been saved from a far worse injustice. For those of us that fought it off. Kudos.
