6:46 when I got into secondary the bullying for free school meals became rampant, like everyone who paid would bully those who got them for free, so they introduced the thumbprint system, everyone registered their thumbprint or PIN number and put money in the account(or free school meal amounts) and whenever you got food, you’d have to put in the pin but you wouldn’t know who was on free or paid meals. So the bullying slowly stopped when people couldn’t tell if you was paying or not!!

In reference to the part where they are calling that girl ‘fat slob’ etc. I am 30yrs old now (female) however when I was in secondary school someone called me ‘thunder thighs’ (I now see I wasn’t fat but at that age I didn’t see it that way) anyways. That 1 comment had a massive impact, I ended up with an eating disorder which resulted in anorexia and bulimia. At 30yrs old I still have a love:hate relationship with food and I always, always remember that ‘thunder thighs’ comment. Just clarifying that these comments CAN affect someone’s entire life.. Anyway - Great videos Cam! 👍🏽

Having worked in a secondary school in one of the most deprived areas of Manchester really changed how lenient I was with uniforms... the whole point of the uniform is so that kids from better off families don't bully kids from more disadvantaged families based on what they were wearing. Some of the kids I worked with didn't even have a mattress at home. The uniform being clamped down on, was so that other kids didn't realise that some of these kids didn't have other clothes, or shoes - besides what they wore to school... it's not AS big a deal in certain areas of Manchester, but for areas like that, you're literally preventing bullying by taking uniforms more seriously than you would like to...

People with anxiety/stress disorders aren't weak. You never know what is truly happening behind the scenes unless you genuinely try to understand. Many people do not realize what stress can really do to your body, what symptoms can happen. If you see it happening to kids, ask, offer them help. In general, just be decent to other people and don't judge them for things you don't understand. So many adults act like those school bullies, it's insane. I don't remember my last year of school too well because of my severe anxiety. Though I remember my chemistry teacher laughing at me when I handed him a test, I remember my math teacher telling me that I wasn't smart enough for her class, and I remember my mom yelling at me for 'faking' being sick so often. Other than that, I don't really remember anything. My anxiety was so bad that I threw up multiple times a day, had panic attacks, disassociated, etc. But the vast majority of people just said I was attention seeking and faking. Two years after school I was diagnosed with CPTSD and AvPD. Four years after school, I was declared legally disabled due to stress disorders and was later diagnosed with PNES. All of it stemmed from severe child abuse/neglect, and most people never cared to help me when it was happening. It was easier to say I was an attention seeker and blame me. I wish I had teachers that would allow me to take breaks and cared enough to ask. I would have given anything for help back then.
