I'm so glad that your vid showed up when I typed in "slow living." I realize that I don't really want "slow" living but more time-less living...flow without guilt, easier choices for "non-productive" activities. When you mentioned perfectionism, being driven, and very task-oriented, I could totally identify. I venture to guess that it's not speed but the pressure to maximize the value and output of time that is the driver. I really really appreciate this summary of your last year and CONGRATULATIONS on the new baby. I pray that your journey into motherhood has ooodles of grace and self-compassion as you learn and find your way.

I love the idea of determining our own tempo. My partner has ADHD with seemingly boundless energy and is very successful in a job that rewards the hustle. I have a low functioning thyroid and prefer to work slowly and methodically. Our 2 styles complement each other well when doing projects around the house or even grocery shopping because we try to meet in the middle and balance each other out.
@anikajgreenАй бұрын
ME TOO - the freedom to determine temp makes so much sense and is so comforting. My husband also has ADHD, and I definitely resonate with your experience - it's taken us a bit to figure out a rhythm that works, but it's actually kinda fun and helpful that we're different in that area!! Balancing each other out is the perfect way to say it :)

Normally people who do videos on slow living are gentle, quiet and introverted. It made me feel like slow living wasn’t for me because I am so much the opposite. But then I found your channel! You’re similar to me, you give me hope. Thank you so much for sharing your struggles with us it has helped me so much ❤❤❤

Love this! Such a good reminder and points. As an “older mom” (my kids are 5 and 8), I would say there are definite seasons of slow living and some that are not as slow 😅. But definitely more meaning, more love, more empathy, more growth. It’s the best and I’m happy for you! I would love to hear how/if your relationship to your phone changed during this year.
@anikajgreenАй бұрын
that totally makes sense haha. I'm trying to let go of expectations for motherhood - in theory, making peace with each season being what it is, but also know that that's easier said than done haha. So excited for it all though! And YES - I'm planning on posting a video all about my phone/technology shifts & habits in early December!!

I love the concept of a conscious choice for the tempo of life, And that days can be different. So much learning to celebrate in this past year. And a baby will bring so many more opportunities to learn of the very best kind…

This was exactly what I needed as I reflect on the last year, thanks Anika. It was so good to be reminded of my own growth since discovering your channel and slow living in January. Especially the ability to set the tempo of my days, and to delight in the everyday. Thanks for sharing so honestly and openly about your journey.

I wish I could but I live as a single individual in a very expensive city 😢 my rent is going up every few months and I’m constantly trying to find a second job / side hustle to help me financially… 😢 I wish I could have the luxury of slowing down
@anikajgreenАй бұрын
This is such an important comment - thanks for sharing your situation. It's so true that slowing down, in many cases, is a luxury. I'm fortunate to be in a season of life and situation where I've had the flexibility to commit to it in such a large way, but there have certainly been times where that just wouldn't have been accessible to me. I'm sorry things are so stressful right now - life is so expensive these days and it's brutal. Something I have tried that's been helpful during busier seasons this year has been setting aside a bit of time (like 10 minutes) each day to just "be slow." I'll leave my phone in another room and either sit in silence, read, journal, or go for a walk - whatever I'm in the mood for. I've found it to be really grounding, and something I can rely on and look forward to in the chaos. I'm leaning on this a lot right now actually! I wanted to throw it out there just in case that sounds appealing or helpful - but I also know that that doesn't solve anything. It's also hard to slow down when you feel like you're running on empty or burning out, so if that doesn't sound doable or beneficial, feel free to ignore - I never want to oversimplify the realities of life🤍
