I normally cooked bacon this way, either on parchment or aluminum foil in the oven. Last week I used the Dr Ken Berry Method in a ninja foodie 7qt pot. Cooked a whole pack of thick-cut bacon. Turned out perfectly. I'll probably never bother to bake or fry bacon again. It's just too easy in the pot, and it's even easier to pour out and store the grease after.

I bake mine on extra wide foil to keep grease from seeping onto the pan then use paper towels to pat the strips dry and the same paper towels to lay in the pan soaking up the grease. Roll up the foil and done. No mess.

I actually laughed out loud when you said you like to cook it on the Blackstone outside that way you don't get the smell. OMG how can anyone not love the smell of bacon through the whole house lol.

Well only down side to your house smelling like bacon is if you’re meal prepping for the week and friends come over and smell that bacon, they’re going to say “Did you make bacon? Any left?“ 😂

@@AnimalBasedInYourFace I agree! Haha! I cook bacon 3-4x a week. You def start smelling it in/on everything. Can't wait to try your oven method! I've been doing the pot method but I always end up burning some on the bottom every time! I'll try my luck with the oven.

Lowering the heat to 375 stopped my bacon from popping and splattering in the oven. Parchment works better than foil for me.

I just recently started to cook my bacon this way. On a large cookie sheet with parchment paper. 425 for about 20 minutes or keep an eye on it until it’s done to your liking. No more splatter and getting burned!!! Perfect every time.

The cold oven and parchment paper on top really helps with the splatter.

My wife cooks it on a screen on a foil covered pan. 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Take it out and flip the bacon, cook for 20 minutes more. Let it cool and pour off the bacon grease and save for later in the fridge. Yum 😋 usually cooks 2 Lbs at a time.

I cook 8 lbs of bacon a week (while not keto on snacks on bacon) so oven is the only way doing it all at once. I use the costco wide AL foil that lets me enrobe the whole trays (no mess just pull off the sheets when done). Cook it all to stiff no chrispy, my son eats them cold and I toast them a bit as needed all week. Roll them up in paper towels. BOGO bacon on mondays at the fresh market. Never an issue with splater.

Thank you for sharing different methods of cooking bacon. I cook a lb of bacon every day on the blackstone. The only drawback with cooking on the blackstone is you don’t get to save the bacon grease as I cook other meats on our blackstone as well.
@AnimalBasedInYourFace
@AnimalBasedInYourFace 6 ай бұрын
Yes that is the drawback I agree. We have some silicone grease holders we bought for our blackstone. If we are cooking up 3 or 4 pounds of bacon, I will put a new silicone grease holder in and capture the grease. But it always has a darker color and never as white as this method. You maybe able to filter the grease thru a coffee filter and get it white and clean. Thanks for watching and be sure and subscribe for more videos my friend.

There's a stove top method of covering the bacon w water, set on low temp, let water evaporate and fry to doneness. It's on KZbin somewhere.

Yes we did this and it cooks the bacon slower by having the water added. It makes a chewier bacon slice.

@@AnimalBasedInYourFace I just buy thick cut bacon, single layer per tray, 160 degrees for about 5 or 6 hours. I flip them and pat excess grease with a paper towel every couple hours. They end up more chewy than fried or baked, but they last longer too. Great for a snack that doesn't need refrigerator.

Have you tried microwaving bacon between layers of paper towels? Be sure to first spray the paper towels with Pam before laying down the bacon or it will stick. I have cooked as many as 5 layers this way. Be sure to flip the stack over halfway through because the bottom cooks up faster than the other layers. It is messy cooking, too, but bacon is worth it! ☺️
@LdeBluEyes
@LdeBluEyes 11 ай бұрын
If you make your parchment paper just a little bit bigger than the size of the cookie sheet. When you put the bacon on it, it'll gather all the bacon grease at the bottom so you don't have to scrub out the sheet so much.
@EffieG-ez9tf
@EffieG-ez9tf 4 ай бұрын
Question: Couldn’t you put some paper towels in the pan FIRST, then put down the parchment paper, then the bacon, then the top layer of parchment paper? That would soak up more of the mess left in the pan. You could do the same thing under the foil, too. Less mess.

Even better than aluminum foil is to just use the baking sheet. Aluminum has been implicated in Alzheimer's. Bacon is worth the effort of cleaning a pan. I will try the parchment on top. I'll lose some of the bacon grease, but I'd rather clean a baking sheet than an oven. I had a professional chef tell me about using a baking sheet to get crispy bacon.

Cooking bacon methods is like looking for the holy grail, lol. Do you use thick-cut bacon vs regular? The "pot" method with my "thin" very lean bacon in a "not-the-greatest" pot resulted in less than hoped-for results. The pot is important, I recognize that, however, there didn't seem to be enough "fat" to cook the bacon and the thin slices led to it breaking up pretty easily after it started to crisp. Also, wouldn't using a covered cast iron skillet work the same way as a pot? Anyway, thanks for your videos!!
@AnimalBasedInYourFace
@AnimalBasedInYourFace 11 ай бұрын
Yes cast iron or a Dutch oven will work. We use thick cut bacon. If you do thin in the pot I would put an inch of bacon grease in first and get it hot then the thin bacon. It won’t fall apart and basically deep fry. Thank you for watching!

Cooked bacon in Dutch oven, stove top first time today. Must have had the heat up too high at first, some pieces stuck to bottom, burned. Have to start lower heat next time. Usually cook bacon in oven, turns out fine, but pot method quicker, easier, imo.
@AnimalBasedInYourFace
@AnimalBasedInYourFace 11 ай бұрын
Yes you have to watch it because every pot and stove cooks differently. SS heats up super fast and cast iron is slower. When you do it a few times you’ll get to know the right temp.

If I were to open my oven that many times it would pour out so much heat in my house my A/C would be working double time. In the summer in Central Florida, I would have to cook it after the sun goes down. I'll go with the pot method and turn on the vent.

We prefer the bacon cooked in the oven over all other methods we have tried. We love the texture of it. We like to undercook it a little so it heats up better in the air fryer and doesn’t get over cooked. We cook big batches for meal prep.
