I am grateful for this video, as it has helped me to understand some of the more difficult concepts of biology. I appreciate the lucid and succinct explanations of the concepts, which were easy to follow and understand. Thank you for your clear and concise explanations.

Really nice done. I know how difficult it is to explain such topics, since I am actually doing my PhD in this field. Since you provide an overview it is well done. Just one thing: the point centromere is special to only S. cerevisiae and already at S. pombe we speak about a "simple" regional centromere. Moreover, other species such as D. melanogaster have a different centromere organization, which you did not mention. Moreover, CENP-A has different names in each organism (Cse4 in S. cerevisiae, CID in D. melanogaster and only called CENP-A in human). In addition, the centromere is defined by the (peri)centromeric heterochromatin structure which is unique to its self, since it contains histone marks (which you have shown) which can be found in Euchromatin or Heterochromatin. It is not as densly packed as seen in Heterochromatin, since it has been shown (and I am working on that too) that the centromeric chromatin has to be assessible for the kinetochore foundation proteins (CENP-B and CENP-C, CENP-N/L etc.) to build up the first layer and then the layers you have just mentioned. I am excited to see your video on Kinteochore. Maybe if you have time to mention it, you could show the current structure of the human Kinetochore bound to the alpha-satellite containing CENP-A Nucleosome (Yatskevich et.al 2022, Science). All the best and keep up this great work!

@@animatedbiologywitharpan sounds great, but just keep in mind it might be to specialized if you do so. I hope your audience might like it more detailed. Your channel covers many great topics and I am really amazed by your dedication with all the nice figures you are making. If you need some advice regarding chromatin or centromere, please feel free to contact me. I am happy to help. Other then that, keep going, you are doing a fantastic job!
