As you were asking about the design of characters - specifically the one with the long nose. These characters are named after characters in Commedia dell'arte and that one is Pulcinella. From what I remember, the original Pulcinella wears a mask with a long nose like that. Which, I believe, is the reason for this design. Other characters here also have some details in them that is similar to the character they were named after, so I think it's more like a shout out to Commedia dell'arte

About the mouth flaps, some of the Genshin ENG VAs have told us that they don't record to the finished product. They get the storyboard versions which are just the black and white pictures of the scene as it moves on. And they don't really know why it's done that way for them.

That's kind of what I mean. If they're recording the audio separately, they could have the animation team go back and make them match before full release after receiving EN audio. Sure it's more money and more work, but in the grand scheme It's a drop in the bucket and definitely worth it imo. However in the grand scheme of these types of projects, it's really not worth it and I definitely understand that. That doesn't mean I don't want to see it become more common 😂

kinda funny how the "fatui harbingers", the bad guys in this are basically based off commedia dell'arte, in opera that's "Italian comedy", but their organization is located in a nation with a Russian motif.

There is a funny real life connection between those two nations because St. Petersburg is often called "the Venice of the North", and the building seen in the Lazzo trailer looks pretty similar to one of the churches located in St. Petersburg, so that could be the main inspiration for the capital of Snezhnaya

The animation of the mouth matches the Chinese dub. Alejandro Saab explained very good what they get and hoe they try to match with the movement plbut sometimes its very difficult

It's still an option to completely redo phonemes. It's not entirely practical but purely as a choice, it's one that can be made. It just costs time and money executives don't see worth spending, but i find it a good practice personally

Focusing on the animation i find the audio in them redundant more often. Couldn't tell you what these guys are talking about even after editing. Not because i didn't have the audio high, mostly because i legitimately don't care either way 😂 And if you're here, tbh you should already have seen the animation. In my opinion a reaction isn't a replacement for watching the original work

Huh, i actually never noticed the lipsync didnt match the voice... but tbh, NO ONE that plays genshin can be bothered by innacurate lipsync, cus if you are... you wouldnt be playing the game 💀 Like it's an actual miracle if ANY line matches the animation (exept on the oldest quests now cus not too long ago they fixed them, but the new ones are always wrong asf, you learn to live with it lol)

Yes 🙃 I've done both in a professional capacity, though animation was more a career choice and drumming more of a lifelong hobby that has started to branch into more serious prospects
