This is great! Loving this animation series :D GG on 500+ Subscribers! A quick question. Do you guys actually use Maya to animate at work (DICE), or do you something in Frostbite for that and use Maya just for tutorials / personal projects?
@harveynewman5 жыл бұрын
Just seen this now. We use Maya and Motionbuilder to animate. ;) As always thanks for the support, here and on social.

Harvey Newman it definitely helped, although I’m not sure what the response will be if I film myself in public with a lightsaber and a cape 😳

@@BattlefrontStrategy Well I for one would definately be interested in seeing that. :) We do that type of reference at work all the time...minus the cape.
@BattlefrontStrategy5 жыл бұрын
Harvey Newman haha well I live in an area of mostly conservative pensioners so this could provide some shock value. I can’t imagine how the physics of a cape will react in certain situations so yes, the cape is mandatory and I will look fabulous :)

@yojay_buggin53933 жыл бұрын
Is this like kinda rotoscoping
@harveynewman3 жыл бұрын
Rotoscoping is copying the realistic motion one to one. This is reference, the goal here is not to copy but to understand the basic motion to then later push the motion to make it more entertaining and fun to watch.

I have a question. If the scene is too looney and clumsy, do you shoot a reference and move rapidly mimicking the cartoony feeling? Or do you shoot the reference at a regular speed and then adjust the speed of the animation on keyframes?
@harveynewman3 жыл бұрын
Good question. You'd shoot the reference at a regular speed and adjust it in Animation. You want to make the most out of the reference at first and only once you have the essence of the reference nailed, you would push the animation to make it more cartoony. Hope that makes sense.
@abedd3703 жыл бұрын

Nice video editing I can tell you put some time into this i.e gather vid ref, editing etc.. kudos so do you plan on maybe getting keyframe pro in the future or continue to stick with this workflow? I mean keyframe MP by itself is excellent and some studios have a license. I do like the photo part I never tried that workflow cool stuff. Thanks DC
@harveynewman5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Darrel. I already have the pro, it’s actually the one I am using in the video. The developer is just the one person doing a lot of work. So only right to support. I use the pro features on the Brad Bird video I made to draw over the video. It’s dope ish.

I see you use Mac, but do you use the default apps or do you download them? If so, are they free? Good video as always
@harveynewman5 жыл бұрын
Ola Iñaki. Thanks for watching. When you say the default apps. Are you talking about Maya or Mac?
@koldobika_5 жыл бұрын
I’m talking about Mac, I don’t use it a lot, but in the drawings I saw you used Photoshop, but is that a preinstaled app or did you had to download it? Also, Maya has a free trial but then you have to pay for a anual subscription right? And which is the difference between both versions? And finally does the “improved media player” (I can’t remember it’s name right now) is free? I was reading an article about concept arts in the Battlefront 2 website and I notice they use Maya as an example Greetings from Mexico, thanks for responding and sorry for the delay!
@harveynewman5 жыл бұрын
No worries Inaki. I installed Photoshop, and Maya unfortunately there's no other way around it, but if you use it pretty much on a daily basis is a worthy expensive. Or at least that's what I think. Keyframe MP the media player has a trial but again you have to pay for it, the reason why is because it's made by a small developer so all money goes to keep up the great work, and improving things. Any other questions let me know. ;)
