Agree animelon, the manga ends with Goku being the winner and flying off with Chi Chi ending the DB with a new adventure start with the first volume of DBZ, I believe the writers did five episodes to give Goku and Chi Chi a bit of screen time with adventures while not giving episode 149 a finale with the wedding so instead, have the castle on fire which resort to having Goku and Chi Chi venture out parts of world to find the bansho fan and other items useful to help the root of the cause of the fire from underneath the castle and it's on the exact opposite of the side of the world where the castle is built so that means tackling the danger before their finale, it also includes meeting recurring and new characters
