The Original Pokemon Anime - Does It Hold Up?

When you consider all of the spinoff shows that The Pokémon Company has continued to put out in the past couple of years, it’s clear that the Pokémon brand could go in a multitude of directions once this season is over. So I thought it would be a good opportunity to go back and see how that journey first began.

the humor in the first few seasons was god tier imo and only got progressively worse as the series went on

personally I dont think it does. looking past nostalgia the OS anime is really not the good. It has some good one off eps but over all its not very good, the animation is also nice in long shots. the characters are dull, misty and brock are both dull, misty especially. both are also pretty mean tbh. I think a major issue is that 4kids change so much dialog, if it keep to the original script it could be different, for worse or better idk.

I used to watch this with my little brother. I don't like anime at all. In fact I despise most of it. But Pokémon was fun. It was heavily altered to appeal to American kids I guess, so maybe that's why I could sit thru it but it was a fun cartoon for a while. I like the ghost episode

Actually the 4kids dub had a lot of music from the original in their dub along with own music. The ratio from dub to original music would lean in favor of the dub sadly. It was weird. One would think that they’d go with one or the other.

What if Gens 1-4 came out worldwide from 1996 to 1999 on the GameBoy? Followed by Gens 5-8 from 2001-2004 on GBA(with backwards compatibility). And each Gen got a sequel every 10 years and had 10-year timeskips? And if the Anime first aired on April 1996, made Ash win the League, and we get new protagonists every Season? How'd the Pokemon franchise have been like? Imagine living in that alternate timeline with new childhood memories replacing old ones.

Well, it’s a dub that grew the beard. Season 1 was hit or Miss but Season 2 would have the cast capture more dramatic moments.
