When a game becomes a job to learn how to play you really have to consider if it's worth playing. For some folks that's exactly what they want, maybe they already have an unfullfilling job and the game hits all the right notes for them. For others it's just more stress. I think the same is true for anime, if you have to actively force yourself to watch something and you're not having fun or interested in it then maybe it's not the right show for you right now. Maybe it's something you need a few years of perspective to come back to. I remember back in the day when I first saw Code Geass I couldn't stand Lelouch in the first episode and just instantly dropped it. Then I picked it up again a year or two later and realised, I just needed to get my head around the novel idea that the main character isn't necessarily a likeable one. And the rest of the show was just an absolute blast when I got through it. It was a big moment for little me. Now it's probably my favourite show in existence, just for that one moment of clarity revealing that characters don't have to be relateable to be enjoyable. I even became more comfortable with the idea of watching shows with weird and peculiar protagonists or antagonists that were absolutely nothing like anyone I would want to talk to IRL but in that show they were perfect.

I just don't listen to those people. The Last Person i knew somehow convinced me that attack on titan doesn't have a Plot and only is some Action trash. One day i gave it a try myself, since i thankfully always prefered to build my own opinion by giving things a chance. So, i liked it pretty much, and didn't understand why somebody would say that there isn't any plot. She always told me that she watched AoT so i just wanted to talk about what was so bad for her. I have a ton of shows on my "Plan to Watch List" on MAL, and it increases every month or so. Yet it takes a single KZbin clip of an anime I've never heard about or never had any interest to make me binge the whole thing in the next days or week. Cliche only exists because it works, and when used correctly it can be very effective. No matter how many times I see the "power of friendship" showing up in every damn shonen ever, I still get my eyes wet when I see a good scene using this trope. Searching for the things you think you like in any media narrows your vision, blocking the stuff you might really enjoy if you just went and tested them yourself.

It's not my favorite, not even close. But I really do like SAO, even the Fairy Dance arc, though I'm of course aware it's not as great as the first arc. I haven't gotten caught up yet though. I watched maybe less than half of season 2, and I'm super far behind atm. But I'm planning to come back to it in a bit. Currently, I'm watching a bunch of shows that have been on my to watch list for a long time. I've been doing a lot more seasonal anime stuff this year. I changed my priority from watching a few long running anime to branching out, and watching a bunch of shorter 12-26 episode seasons. I've just finally ran out of my last 1 season 12 episode show that I had in my current Crunchyroll que today. So now I've decided I'll let myself do a few 24-26 seasons. I may finally let myself do some rewatches relatively soon. But starting with shows like SAO, that would be just some partial rewatches, and not full on yet.

DxD may be softcore porn at first glance, but I've found that once you get past all the fan service, there's a fairly good action anime underneath. Hell my favorite part wasn't one of the various blue balling "oh something might happen, but lol no jk" (and knowing that nothing will ever actually happen between the characters doesnt make it any better) moments but when Asia "dies" again in season 3 and issei goes fuckin nuts. I rewatch that scene more than anything else. The mix of badass transformation and beautiful catharsis when he just beats that jackoff's face in is unmatched in my opinion.

I know theres so many good anime lately, but im afraid that still not worth of my time. let alone a season, even an episode is kinda a deal for me, its hard to chose between 2 anime or an extra hour for sleep. but still, im really love this medium, anime is one of factor that shape me who i am now, even im ended up only watching anime that have really good testimonies from the community, or anime that ive already loved on another medium like azur lane or fate grand order. i really hope, that come the day i can watch anime like i used to be

Had actually just left my own comment about the same. Best advice I could give you is to think back to what genre you enjoyed the most when you first started! About a few months ago I sat down, started looking through slice of life anime and didn't care about reading a summary. If it looked cute I just started watching it without thinking. Its a really good way to "get back to your roots" as I'd like to say :) good luck and hopefully you'll be able to enjoy shows like you used to!

The first adaption (FMA) is deviating quite a bit from the source material due to the fact that the show had been put on the screens during the time when the original story was still in its infancy. Therefore, it is less action packed and, in my honest opinion, has more relatively mature and dark tone in it. The second adaptation is much closer to source and has more action, characters and, in general, just more heroic story than the first one. If you didn't like the second one, I highly recommend to check the first few episodes of the original 2003 FMA. If you found both FMAs to be boring, it is sad because you are missing an interesting adventure. Nevertheless, you tried watching it before judging - respectable for sure in today's world.

Gigguk, I saw this video the second it released last year, and I noticed the same thing when I rewatched it now as I did back then, you have not been fully open about your thoughts on Sword Art Online. By this point, the final part of Alicization, WoU 2 has come out and the itch I've been feeling this past few years has gotten so much worse. That itch being, "Why hasn't any big ani-tuber giving this new season a chance and properly make a video about it?" SAO has grown into so much more, beyond all recognition from its last seasons. It brought upon such an amazing feeling to the point it doubled my love for it as a whole. And that's saying something, coming from a person who watched SAO Season 1 back then just to shit on it. Despite all the negative feedback and the tropes, the "Questionable" scenes, its still something worth talking about. It will sooner or later impact anime as it has almost a decade ago, seriously. SAO's image was bad before, but it shouldn't stay that way. Storytelling evolves as time goes on, then so will SAO. You know this. Please, consider making a video about it.
