Anita, watching that collar/stand input was really helpful. Some things are really helpful for me to see in action, the finishing, and using these sewing tools. Question: How are your markings so clear? Tracing paper is not clear enough for me, regardless of color.

Hi Anita, It would help me if you told me how far from the edge should I do a basing stitch. I think it makes a difference because often the main stitches are 5/8 of an inch so I wonder do I stay inside of it. I try to look at your machine to get an idea but it's hard to see sometimes.
@AnitabyDesign7 ай бұрын
Hi Kendal. A basting stitch is sewn along the seam line. If your seam allowance is 5/8", then baste stitch 5/8" from the raw edge. If your seam allowance is 3/8", then baste stitch 3/8" from the raw edge. As mentioned in the beginning of the video, this sew along is for Advanced Beginners, therefore I assume that those following along already know how to perform a basting stitch. In the future, if you're not clear on how to perform a step while following one of my sew alongs, check out the instruction sheet that comes with the pattern. They have a list of definitions to explain some sewing terms that are mentioned. I hope that helps.

Random (maybe obvious?) question: how do you position the needle to the right? I have a Soprano as well, and for the "regular" straight stitches I don't have an option for the right. Are you using maybe one of the quilting stitches, like that you would use for piecing? If you could tell me the exact stitch number that positions the needle to the right (since I have the same BL machine) I would be so grateful! Your videos are awesome, as usual!
@AnitabyDesign6 ай бұрын
To change the needle position when you're using a straight stitch, use the STITCH WIDTH selector. The minus sign moves the needle to the left. The plus sign moves the needle to the right. I hope that helps. 💕
@ac76876 ай бұрын
@@AnitabyDesign This is great, thank you! As obvious as it should have been, for me it wasn't! And one of my biggest "upsets" with my Soprano was that I couldn't freely reposition my needle, which I could in cheaper machines. If only BabyLock was half as helpful as you are! I love their machines, but my experience with their dealers, and especially with their own customer care, have been absolutely horrible. BL has been so, so, so bad for FU on my 2 (bought brand new) machines that I am reconsidering what brand to get for future purchases.
@ac76876 ай бұрын

@@ac7687 I learned everything about my machine by going through the owner's manual. I literally sat at my machine with the book and followed the steps to learn how everything worked. It was my first digital machine so I wasn't familiar with all the buttons. I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with customer service. I've never heard this from anyone. If your local retailer isn't helping, perhaps you can consider trying a different one (if you haven't already).
