Anna, I just heard you say you are contemplating what to do on your podcast in December. Please do not overcommit yourself or stress yourself out with any of that! Your first priority, concentration, and joy should be for this new little baby and your hubby to enjoy! Nothing else! Just enjoy being a new mom! We will survive without any extras this year! Allow yourself time to enjoy the baby, adjust to possible lack of sleep, recuperation from birth, and all the other things that come with motherhood! We wish you all the best!

Anna, we Americans need to follow the ways of child rearing of other countries. I stayed home with my 3 girls until they went to school. My husband and I made sacrifices, but it was worth it. I've never regretted being with my girls. I also was childcare for my nephew the first three years of his life. I cherish the bond we now share. I pray all goes well for you in this pregnancy and look forward to hearing your take on being a mother in the future. The Lord's blessings for you, your husband, and that precious little babe.

You look very good. The baby knits are so cute and I love your finished socks. The West Yorkshire colorway is called Fairy Lights. November is a great month ( I was born on November 2, many many moons ago 🙂) I was a stay at home mom too, I never worked outside the house and i never regret it. I loved taking care of my two children who have now children of them self (I have 3 little granddaughters, 2 are 4 years young and 1 is 3 years young).

Anna thank you for your recommendations for podcasts and books at the end of this episode. This is exactly what's on my mind as a mother currently and what a blessing to be able to watch someone in a different country experiencing the same things and drawing the same conclusions. Motherhood is the greatest blessing in my life and I cannot imagine sending my precious child to be essentially raised by daycare.

Happy August! Your projects are fun to follow always. One present to a new mom that seems such a good idea is a shawl for the mother. She can wear it forever in many ways but it’s so good as a modest cover up with breastfeeding.

Not too much longer for baby to arrive. I have 2 November babies myself, they are now 20 (and he just got married and moved out in June) and my daughter who's 18. I know you will hear this a lot because I did myself when I had my babies but it goes by too quickly. I tried very hard to be present and in the moment. I was a stay at home/ homeschooling mom and I still look back and think I didn't have enough time. Cherish every moment and remember you can never hold, sing, kiss or read to your babies/children too much. I'm not sure I fully understood how fast it goes by until it's already gone by. When you were talking about Air conditioning units it made me curious about the walls and homes in Germany. Is it common for German walls to be made of plaster or drywall? Our walls are plaster and I think that helps to keep our house cooler in the summer. Newer homes are made with drywall, it's very uncommon to plaster walls anymore. I was curious how it is where you are.

Thank you for the reminder. I need that! I really want to put the family first and savor every moment with a baby boy. But I am sure I will think that I have to do this or that when the time is here.

I've made my own advent box of yarns for a couple of years. Last year was a 12 day grab bag for the Juniper Cowl and I also made a short sleevedx sweater with another, just taking my leftovers and putting in bags to be used at Advent.

Dear Anna, I am German born (Nürnberg), but American raised due to emigration as a small child. I have watched your podcast for about a year and enjoy it completely. I'm thrilled you and Tommy are expecting a sweet baby boy. My husband and I raised two sons, and now have two granddaughters. They own our hearts! My best new mom advice to you is to enjoy every moment--the good and the bad. The good is great, of course, and the bad will pass. They are only babies, toddlers, small children, and young adults once. Be in the moment. Let them make their own mistakes as long as safety is not an issue. They will learn and become strong people. Do not discourage them from crawling into your bed when they are toddlers. They are still figuring out this big world and are coming to you for soothing and cuddling. Don't worry about making mistakes. We all do, and we learn from them. Apologize when necessary. Gosh, I guess that was more than one piece of advice. Thank you for continuing to podcast. I'll look forward to the next one!
