Anna Ungaro - Scalilli Italian Christmas Baking

This is an old Southern Italian Cookie made especially at Christmas time. Made by Anna Ungaro
Scalilli
6 eggs
6 tblsp oil
pinch of salt
3 1/2 cups flour
Honey

This is great, thank you. My Grandma's mother was from Sicily, and she brought this recipe to the Kootenays. Her name was Ungaro too, and she married an Altamar, then along came my Grandma. And she always made scalili at Christmas. I am going to try this year, and watching your Nonna's technique is fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

What is the purpose of the big crock pot?

For us it was a way to keep the scalilli and turdilli moist. Sometimes I would need to rehoney them. But we would keep them in there for weeks on end.

I'm married to a 'Nana'. Where can I buy an apron like Nana Anna is wearing? Also, my mother-in-law made Scalilli and Turdilli. She used a crock as well. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Barry she's probably had that apron for 20 years. We love our crock pot every year.
