Americans' say the phrase "I'm on the fence about _________". and "It's raining cats and dogs." Both are pretty commonly used.

I was going to say the same 😂 Also, who on earth was Anna hanging out with? 😂😂😂 Who thinks the word “charming” is weird? 😂😂😂 And only says slang? 😂😂😂 This isn’t everyone. This is a type.

Morish is an adjective I've never heard an American use to describe something tasty and addictive.
@The_SeoulJourner

@@FiftyFive74 I use moreish occasionally, but it's not common in the States. I don't think I've ever heard it used by any of my Canadian family either. US is massive, though there are plenty of commonalities within the way we speak, we also differ a good deal on state to state, county to county and even city to city. I lived in Chicago, vernacular would change neighborhood to neighborhood.

I’m English and it’s lovely to hear you both speaking with an English accent. It’s more usual to hear English with an American accent (except here of course) so it’s hard to tell where people are actually from because they all sound the same. I really enjoyed your video 😊

6:15 : We use both of those phrases (that Hattie said lol) . It's extremely common... I don't think we'd say "he's dope" to refer to a good looking male. I'd probably say , "Oh he's cute or he looks gooddd". Charming just seems so Cinderella.

I understand most British phrases because I born before 1980 and was exposed to a lot of British colloquial sayings through books, plays, and British tv/movies. The younger you are the less likely you will know those terms unless you were exposed to the language.

Canadian here! I actually have noticed that Koreans use the term “charming”, or “he’s showing his charms”, quite frequently, and I honestly cannot think of a time when I’ve used that word other than now and when watching Prince Charming in Shrek 😂.

I think it depends on the Americans you hang with. Americans totally say on the fence or raining cats and dogs, though they may be more dated phrases. Maybe gen Z says dope and fire often, but they're still super young.

Americans say "on the fence" and "it's raining cats and dogs". Those are very common phases in the US, at least they use to be among people older than 50.

Wait, I'm American and I'm pretty sure I have heard Americans say "I'm on the fence about it." But maybe I'm confused because I did live in England for like 2 years. "It's raining cats and dogs" is definitely something Americans say.

I see someone agree with me. Yes, in America, we say “on the fence; raining cats and dogs” I’d even say “super charming” 🗽🇺🇸

I think idioms like being on the fence is more co fusing for non-native English speakers, that’s why Jin doesn’t naturally understand. But English speakers use that phrase all the time. Also you must be talking to a lot of Gen Zs if they just say it’s fire 🔥

British food is not the best, but it's definitely underrated, if you properly evaluate and they are the best at pies and pasties, especially if you go to restaurants in the countryside outside of London, where they make their own, often stacked with a tasteful blend of vegetables.However, British deserts, especially puddings are as good as any other countries The only countries I would say that have better cuisine than Britain in Europe are France and Italy.They mention Spain, but I've been to Spain several times and the food there is overrated and I prefer British

Hi Anna, I used to watch British tv shows but i did not know Tom Hardy was British. I really like him too. I had a co-worker and on the weekends she goes to the swap meet to sell things. She gets things from wholesale then sells it at swap meet. Just a suggestion. Maybe Hattie’s husband can introduce you to his male friends. Hope they are like Tom Hardy.

Loads of love to both from the Uk! I honestly think that the only thing that’s going for the spotted dick is the name! 😂 nothing too exciting! Is it common that the English teachers should use American accent? That’s weird - they learning a remix, they should learn the original! 😅😅😅 Ps @Hattie, which house did you choose?? Can’t wait to see it!❤

It's like a standard English accent. Reads as slightly middle class and from the south east around London without being one of the "London Accents" which are considered more working class. The standard English accent is considered "the" British accent even though Scotland and Wales are of course British too but we wouldn't call them British accents we'd just call them Scottish and Welsh accents.

Ummm....as an American (Oregon, West Coast) I can say that I've regularly said throughout my 45+ years of life that I'm "On the Fence" about something, and certainly once or twice said -- with my Mom -- "it's raining cats & dogs".
