I worked for Mel and her colleagues for more than a few years and she was always as charming, well mannered and articulate as she is in this interview. She became very knowledgeable about the technical side of staging concerts and it was often her role to oversee many aspects regarding musician, technical and crew related issues. She did this very well and was incredibly loyal to her team. Much respect. I wish her well. 😊

Incredible interview! As a Spice Girls fan, hearing the things that were shared in this interview was particularly shocking, because I always thought Mel C was the most level-headed, in control, balanced, and overall just the most normal of all the girls, like the one who hyped the other girls up when they needed a cheerleader, always having a great time, brushing negativity off with ease, and overall the most positive and happy! Comes to show you, you never really know what is going on inside someone's head nor their personal battles. If you read this Mel, thank you for your courage and strength to participate in this eye-opening interview! Viva forever!❤️🙏💯🙌

The way she talks about her mindset while she was dealing with her ED was described so well. I've never heard anyone put it quite like that. It is so important to share our experiences and I so appreciate that she is sharing hers.

Excellent interview. My daughters were Spice Girl fans and as their father I was aware that at the time there were few women role models for them. Mel C was my youngest daughter's favorite because she was a bit of a tomboy and found "sporty spice" relatable. I remember my daughters dancing in the living room to their songs or singing along in their rooms. I am grateful to the Spice Girls and "Sporty Spice" for giving my daughters that joy & fun at that time in their pre-teen years. I am impressed with how real Mel C is in this interview. This interview has the relaxed feel of two neighbors having a morning coffee and a chat. (sound engineer - WOW).

Another Holiday Inn, another temporary home and an interviewer threatened me with a microphone; "Talk to me, won't you tell me your story?" So I talked about conscience and I talked about pain and he looked out the window - it started to rain. I thought 'Maybe I've already gone crazy.' So I reached for the bottle and he reached for the door; I picked up the sleeping pills crushed on the floor - inviting me to casual obscenity .... .. .

Being successful is ALL I wanted. Sometimes I wonder if people have an instinct for people that are like them. Her vibe was amazing to me, she exuded being kind, strong, and capable. This has been a fantastic interview to experience. I used to have a massive crush on Mel C as a young lad and always thought she was perfect. When she put on weight, I naively in my head saluted her for it. She seemed healthier. Little did I know.. Watching this interview just literally gave me that kick that I needed for the longest time to address my own depression and eating disorder. I've known for quite a while that something has to change but never had the courage, I guess, in lack of a better word, to take that first step towards recovery. This has to stop now! It is late o'clock right now, but in the morning, it's gonna be a brand new day and a brand new start. Thank you both Melanie and Steven, and the team of course. I thought she was going to burst into tears at some point. She is right. A bit of the depression stays lingering in the back of your mind. It never fully goes away. Whether you’ve been hositalized for it or not. We take medication for it, but it will never make depression completely dissapear. If anything heartbreaking happens, it rears it’s ugly head again. And then you’re thinking to yourself “Here it comes again”. She came across as really genuine. She was very open about everything. 😢❤

Do you think we give depression too much of our attention? I agree it seems to gather force but I wonder if that's because we fear its return. Life has its ups and downs for everyone, it's always fascinated me how depressives seem to get stuck in the low places, fixated almost. I feel at my least depressed when I'm actively seeking to connect with people, and at my most depressed when I convince myself my struggle is insuperable and greater than "anyone can understand". It's an overdose of self from what I've noticed. It's great that we can discuss these things openly now as every idea evolves the more we engage with it, challenge it, etc.

I really enjoyed this interview. I have a new admiration for Mel. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her interviewed on her own before- she has great insight and wisdom and is also incredibly grounded. The sound wasn’t even an issue for me. Thanks for all the work getting it on the air- well and truly worth it ❤️

Loved her for as long as I can remember and it breaks my heart knowing more about what she has endured. Watching this and reading her book makes a little old fan like me feel closer to her and understand what really went on. Thank you Steve...this is truly a masterpiece of a podcast 🙌 ❤️🙏xxxxx

Mel is so incredibly brave! So much of what was revealed here many of us wouldn't have ever known. The pain, the emotional turmoil, the darker side of celebrity life. I really enjoyed this with so many take always and things to reflect on. Super happy that Mel eventually did become a mum, and thankful for her sharing everything so openly. We're all human, we live and we learn. Was very evident in this podcast with Mel. Thank you to Mel, Steven and the whole team!

@@ridiculousman1664 The only one who could sing, a bit. I think this lie perpetrated on the youngsters that these girls had talent is truly shocking. Auto tuning helped and so did the knowledge that none of it mattered as their voices couldn't be heard over the screaming of these deceived fans. They all took the money then and should own up to it all now. Milli Vanilli all over again ! They didn't sing on their records either.

For all the turbulence fame brings, she came across very measured and looking so healthy. The journey of life takes time and experience to achieve a rhythm. The 90’s were brutal in terms of press and things they could print. Which is now every second on social media. So the fight is ongoing for newcomers. Mel has learnt and accepted the tools of help. Now she is helping those listening to her stories.
