Cultural appropriation is the adoption or use of the elements of one culture by members of another culture. Annie Lennox is doing a cover of a song by Bob Marley, she is not trying to become Jamaican. However there are Caucasian Jamaicans also you know. Artists perform covers of other artists music all the time because they hold them in high regard and love their song(s). We should not be throwing around cultural appropriation like its a blanket either because this is just a remake of a wonderful song by the late great Bob Marley that was done very well by the great Annie Lennox, period.

@@panchitalatouche4514 Oh yes there are MANY examples, Bob Dylan - All Along The Watchtower, can hardly hear what he sings in any of his songs, he is a good writer, horrible performer, where as Dave Matthews version of the song, is really having some energy in it ;) What about all the songs "Elvis" made famous!? That wasn't his songs, his own songs was a flop... Whitney Houston, not to say anything bad about Dolly Parton & Vince Gill's original version, but Whitney Houston really made that song famous 🙂 Then she fucked up her life and that's how she's remembered now, sadly...

I’ve always said, if one is to do a cover then it should be just as good or better than the original 😊 Annie’s execution of this track exceeded its limit 🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️ Nobody else could of done this. I don't ever remember a song by Annie Lennox, that I didn't like. In fact, I've liked her ever since she burst on the scene, in 1983, or maybe 1982. I don't quite remember tdy. But almost every song she's made, I've loved. She is one of my all time favorite singers. Her songs are very catchy, to my ears. The movie Changing Lanes, brought me here.

I loved the Medusa album because it was a showcase of how one of the best things about pop music is that it almost begs to be reinterpreted over and over. And Annie took all those songs and did her own thing with them. This was a particularly gutsy song choice. It's a reggae song for heaven's sake! She's an incredible artist. I think Marley would have appreciated it.
