Oriana J Borges : I'm 4 days out from the viewing and still consumed. The film's greatness over-shadows it's few flaws-- What a Hallmark! And the scoring... An exquisite dark rapture -- sounds pompous but the composition is certainly worthy. That clone dance in the lighthouse!?!? Dancing with her own fear/doppleganger? Brilliant.

everything within the shimmer gets refracted and changed. you see that anya has the tattoo of a snake eating itself as an infinity sign and when you see them canoeing, lena notices this “bruise” on her arm and that’s the tattoo forming on her arm. the shimmer alters dna with other dna like how the crocodile had shark teeth and how the deer had flowers on their antlers. the tattoo itself is based on the central theme of the movie which is self destruction. these four women had reasons as to why they want to enter the shimmer and they would risk their lives because of those reasons. every time you see a character die, you see something new.

Whoever this interviewer is...he doesn't do any justice to how epic and complex this movie is. Annihilation is one the best films of the last 50 years, honestly, one of the best cosmic horror portrayals on screen. The interviewer is like, 'yeah chicks with guns, that's the most important part of this film- female representation'...like, dude, did you even watch the film?
