@rwsthedemonking wrong. A fully built out lower that has the stock reciever and pistol grip as one giant piece it will perform just as well. If Austrians can make a trigger pack out of just straight plastic then a lower receiver should be nothing.

I have to say I am hugely excited about the new project especially seeing a link for WWSD in Europe. There seems to be a complete love for heavy AR's here in Europe and I feel alone in not wanting a .223 cinderblock. I'm sure it'll be a long way down the list of priorities but I hope one day I can get hold of one of these polymer lowers.

Oh dang, didn't think this would become a thing. I still have my CAV-15 I think I originally got from Russell years ago. Placed a 20" pencil barrel A2 upper on it and it's about 5 lbs unloaded. Awesome handling even with the 20" barrel. Almost looks like a 'Nam era M-16 with the 2-pt USGI sling on it.

I bought the trigger you guys used in the first WWSD build. It wore out in about 2K rounds and would fail to lock back, hammer follow, and even do full auto double taps sometimes since the hammer followed the carrier forwards. Stoner would not use that trigger. I got rid of it and went with a traditional AR-15 trigger geometery using a reputable brand.

This is incredible! I'm fortunate enough to own one of the CavArms MkII lowers and it's fantastic, but I put on a standard Palmetto State upper so the whole rifle isn't as light as it could be; looking forward to putting a pencil barrel lightweight upper on it. I've also been wanting to get another poly lower to build a light carbine for my parents, but as you said they are just not around anymore. Knowing that I'll be able to just tell them to buy a WWSD2020 and be done with it is freakin' awesome. BTW the Phase 5 ambi-bolt-release fits the MkII without modification and the Surefire 60-rounders fit and work perfectly (at least for me). Not sure if that info is relevant to the upcoming MkIII. Let me finish by just saying thank you to Ian, Karl, KE Arms and Brownells for doing this, it's a huge service to firearms enthusiasts and I can't think of a more qualified team to help in developing the WWSD. Eugene would undoubtedly be proud to see his ideas being carried on and improved upon.

Has the carbon fiber handguard already been chosen for the 2020 full rifle? I'd like to see a few more options at least considered along with the Faxon, I know of Brigand Arms EDGE, Coda Evolution, and Smoke Composites at least that could possibly also fit the project, and at a slightly lower cost.

As far as I gathered the most recent maker of those lowers was evicted from their shop and looking for another, I'm guessing they never found one. A sad story but at least you now have a chance to address the few issues that you found with the old one, (IE the seam and the LOP).

I've always wondered why the buttstock and buffer attach to the lower in the first place. I assume there must be some good reasons why but off hand it sure seems like having the upper and stock be all one unit would make for easier manufacturing.

Dino Nucci I’m sorry you and your wife were treated that way. Seriously awful. I’ve never dealt with Brownells customer service. I like them because they have a lot of exclusives that you can only get through them. It’s hard to boycott someone when they are the only ones selling what you want, but I’m strong in my convictions and have definitely decided to go without stuff because I don’t support those who make it. That being said you are the first person I’ve heard have bad experiences with Brownells, and it may have just been one representative and not the entire company. If you want to get me and more people on board with your boycott I suggest you plaster your bad experiences everywhere. Make a video, post on forums, do a blog. People with similar experiences will come forward in the comments and hopefully be encouraged to do the same thing you did. When I see a lot of people are having bad experiences with Brownells or when I have a bad experience myself they will lose my support.
