I know the situation between red velvet's irene and stylist kang kook hwa happened over a month ago and is pretty much resolved by now.... sorry for the late upload. Basically, I've been experiencing SO MANY new issues and my laptop is on the verge of breaking down (gotta get a new laptop) but I really wanted to share my thoughts on the importance of KPOP support staff, so I decided to upload this anyways.

This reminds me of American football Because the defenders block for those whom get the spotlight. But if not for ones blocking the person wouldn't be able to get wear they are. Think about If not for people who work for garbage trash. Than people's throw aways would build up. So we on the bottom aren't of no importance.

@Hchf Jvkvi don't judge the stylist as well, we don't know the full truth and irene is the only person who can complete the 2 sides of the story. her silence towards the situation means something, if she doesn't explain her side she'll be the villain forever.

@Hchf Jvkvi Irene is being treated like that because she was in the wrong. If you were hurt by someone deeply, it doesn't matter wether you've known them for 50 years or just one day. If you were hurt, you were hurt. The stylist has every right to tell others about the incident because Irene is a public figure, Irene also yelled at her in front of many people so it's not "something that was between the two of them." The stylists who defended Irene was probably someone whom Irene treated well. But just because she was nice to some people doesn't mean she's nice to everyone.

@Hchf Jvkvi You think the stylist was not affected by this? Of course it's not alright to cyberbully and be harassed but that's just how the internet works, do you think the stylisy just moves on with her life like nothing happened? Just like irene the stylist got death threats from Irenes fans, the stylist gets harassed by netizens, called her demeaning words and damaged her mental wellbeing. Both of them were affected by this incident to some extent. Stop trying to make Irene the victim and stop downplaying the hardships of the stylist.

Having been in screen on multiple major film and TV works I can tell you that there is some of the hardest working people on set are actually the “support staff”. In fact support staff isn’t even the right term - all of these people- designers, make up artists, lighting and set designers, coordinators, directors etc have the most crucial job for keeping the show going. Not to mention each one of these professionals is in fact an artist in their own right. Even in “non-creative” roles - developing and producing a tight, seamless schedule, managing conflicts and difficulties as they arise and keeping morale up are such crucial roles. These professionals are always on set at least 2 hours prior to filming in my experience (my call time was usually around 5am) and they are the last ones to leave at night. I’m genuinely surprised that the role of the professionals behind the camera are not celebrated for their contribution in realising the idols concepts. In addition to this, the entertainment industry globally has a huge issue with internships (entirely unpaid). Please show support guys!!!!!!

Being a stylist isn't easy, imagine making or finding 5 different outfits that gives the same vibes but look different and no! not everyone can be a stylist ,if that was the case then why do we have ' fashion styling' majors? And people who says that "staff aren't stressed and Irene have to go with alot" so Irene isn't the only idol in this world, the other idols go through the same thing and it's ok if sometime they loose control but staff are all behind their success.

Agreed. Those people say it's easy, but then they roast a stylist online when a group with tons of members gets some mismatched outfits. She's also saying that people should realize the stylists do play a part in the career of idols. Yes of course, idols become idols by their own merit, but they have a whole team behind them making sure they have an easier time. That's why Irene's actions upset people. Stylists, assistant, composers, etc. are crucial to helping idols succeed and they deserve respect in the same way idols deserve respect. That's at least my interpretation of the comment + the event. Although it was for a shorter time period (a few months per position) in comparison, I also did an unpaid marketing internship and volunteered at a non-profit organization. The main difference is that these roles weren't as much of an integral career stepping stone as they were community service, since I was a highschool student them. I'm from the States and idk that unpaid internships are regulated here either, but this is eye-opening... It's insanely common in general in creative / artistic fields. People thinking they can use an artist's art, music, or general work because that'll generate "publicity" for them, when it's been proven time and time again that the gain from that exposure isn't near enough to make up for the unpaid work hours. That, or in the gamedev industry, bosses asking you to do serious overtime with no OT pay because you should be passionate about the project your team is working on. Overall, just a bunch of people looking to exploit others.

Okay but this really piss me off. When a staff assault their members, they are cancelled immediately, get hated and bashed but when the idols do shit like that, it’s the staff fault? They say it’s very easy to be a stylist while not experiencing it, not realizing the training, how many make-up and clothes they have to make and compare. They say they are just jealous, while they are working hard for the idols to let them shine, while themselves don’t even make public appearances and don’t get the recognition and appreciation that they deserve? They think they are lazy while they suffer from pain in their back, while they praise the idols and forgive them for EVERY SINGLE FAULT. They say staff are nothing with the idols. So they believe idols can do activities without staff? I mean what do they want? That the idols go NAKED on stage? EXPOSE their BARE face? The idols are nothing with the staff. Everyone has a vital role in the industry. Make up and attire designers are imperative and contribute to the dazzling visuals of stage and videos. Speaking of dazzling, Weki Meki is an example. The school uniforms for “Picky” aren’t stereotypical uniforms at all. They absolutely make the members pop as they are unique. Same with Fromis_9 and others. IZ*ONE’s stage mood and aesthetics are partially but greatly attributed to the work of make up and attire artists. Their performances are fascinatingly captivating thanks to the Kpop members and the teams they work with. Song writers, choreographers, and mv producers are “unsung” heroes too. Everyone contributes to the grandeur.

I honestly think the stylist felt humiliated, and that's what pushed her to post what she did. She had posted years before about working with red velvet for the first time, and had said they were great and she became a fan. Her controversial post was actually from their second meeting, and not actually the first time like what she initially claimed (some holes in her story but i won't get to that). When she was then asked about her previous post from years back (which she then deleted), she later explained that "irene didn't remember that meeting", so it didn't count. It stuck with me because it was such a bizarre reason. If she was a fan of irene, and irene lost her shit at her.. well, i can imagine the death note level of anger, lmao.

There is this Lebanese singer named Nancy Ajram who is quoted as saying "You should always treat famous people as if they are NOT famous and treat non-famous people as if they are." I know it may be easier said than done but if someone's job is basically to take care of me, make my life easier, etc, I can't imagine treating them as being "less than" myself. Even if they were to make a mistake, I'd find a way to correct them without disrespecting or humiliating them. Treat others the way you want to be treated. It's not that damn hard.

the problem is with the condition known as "idol worship" - fans (abbreviated from "fanatic") become such idolaters - that the fail to recognize that their idol is human and capable of atrocious behavior - - in being an idolater - they will defend their fan's most caustic behavior - becoming complicit in that behavior - here they thoughtlessly abused the staffer - some generalizing their accusations to an entire community of workers

That was such a smooth transition into the ad that I didn't mind sitting through this promo 😂 The Kpop world is so different from the western pop world in that we as fans get an intimate view into what goes on behind the scenes for the stars themselves. In the UK at least, where backstage scenes and 'gruelling popstar life' isn't really shown, some people are still of the opinion that being a popstar is easy, you have everything done for you, all you do is sing and dance and have a great time etc which they then extend to any creative job. You'd think that Kpop fans having this insight into what it's really like would have some empathy for support staff who are also in a creative role, but apparently not. These comments sound like kids who've never had a job tbh.

I want these fans saying that being a stylist or makeup artist is easy and that they should expect that kind of treatment to work 1 day in the service industry. That kind of abuse of power happens way more often than you may think and those who’ve never experienced what it’s like don’t understand the position it puts you in. Imo everyone should go work in these kinds of jobs so that you have an understanding of what it’s like to be in their position.

That's like saying only the actor matters in a movie, and not the director, cameramen, stylists, make up artists, set designers, etc. Even with books, while the author definitely matters a lot, you still need an editor to polish it and make is flow smoothly. You still need someone to design a cover that will catch readers eyes as they browse. Staff and artist are equally important in all forms of media.

This is a conversation that too many kpop stans aren't ready for. They see the idols as Gods and the staff as slaves and it really bothers me because it just looks to me that they're the kind of people to talk down on minimum wage staff in restaurants and in retail. Whenever an idol lipsyncs, has attitude problems, doesn't dance well the fans jump to their defence yet they hold the staff to a completely different standard because 'it's their job'.
