To this day, Many women leave home with no money, or skills to earn money. Quality product is a team effort, Many entrepreneurs feel it's slave labour. They expect their slaves to make them money. Many subscription services exist to make money off women. The news concept came about, because of numerous wardrobe malfunctions on the news. Also with the hope of news programs publicizing the site for free. Music / KPop is expensive. Lyrics, music, musicians, recording engineers, producers, and several other professions go into make music money. If anyone of these aren't up to the challenge, then the quality is ruined. The worst singers can become hit makers with skilled staff. I don't know this group. But I wish everyone luck, happyness, and success.

I feel pretty bad for them. Their backstory is heartbreaking but it seems like the company and them just didn't really have any solid plans. If their end goal was a career in adult entertainment or something like OnlyFans, then the short lived scandalous promotion methods would have worked well since they're just a gateway to their "main" content. Artists like Lady Gaga are "outrageous" and "sexual" but people stay because they have something more to offer after people are paying attention to them, the sex appeal is to stand out but the main content is supposed to be the music or the artist. The Naked Girls just had...their nakedness, and not even a proper marketing plan to use that to their benefit. I think if they had better management and consideration for longevity, they would've done better. I think especially in 2020 when sex work is slowly but steadily becoming less stigmatized and more accessible due to the internet, a group like them would have more avenues and audience. Maybe they were just too ahead of the game lol

The only reason they didn’t have an plans or fall backs is because the CEO planned to scam from the start. The anchors thought they would have at least 6 months to build SOMETHING but didn’t even get the chance. And after such a crushing blow it would be hard to recover for some people.
@abhijiththampi3 жыл бұрын
This is true. When lady gaga first burst onto the scene I avoided her because I thought she was just a regular pop artist with shock content. But as time passed I started to notice the good music she was putting out. If anything, it had her own authentic stamp on it. I think a comparison can be made between Nicole scherzinger and camila cabello as well. Pussycat dolls had a sexy presence and assertiveness but only one good singer, but her career didn't go anywhere because she imo didn't provide anything different from other popstars. Fifth Harmony was a similar group but with slightly better singers, and cabello has flourished as an artist because she's making her type of music. If one doesn't have a certain style or vision that they want to show, most often they won't succeed in this business.

You used the group "Stellar" as an example, but they have a pretty heartbreaking backstory as well. They were tricked and forced into the sexy concept, as shown by the look on their faces in most of their MVs. Their company was struggling, and their sexy MVs did the best, so they forced the girls into it. Sometimes, the girls would have to split 1 meal for a week, in an effort to save money and keep up their perfect bodies. It's really sad how they are called sluts for being tricked by their own company. Their producers, managers, and choreographers were also mostly men, which definitely explains things.

To be honest, those b-tracks sound on par with the music going on at the time. So they obviously had talent. And the fact that they were bringing it as "older women" in an industry where their age made them seem like dinosaurs is also an achievement I can't take from them. I also have to admire them for pulling themselves out of a tragic situation and taking a huge chance at something completely new. Having said that, there's only so far you can go when you're using sex to sell. While I do think society as a whole as WAY too scared of the female body, nudity, and sexual situations, there is a line between art and porn - and Naked Girls definitely were softcore porn. I don't think they could have expected any less given their bodies were their main selling point, not their music. Still, I think I actually admire them for making the K-pop industry uncomfortable by pushing the standards as far as they could go while also showing how a sexual woman can be a powerful figure and not just a pervert.

Expressing your sexuality in any art form is fine but why is it that it's usually women who do that and the way they do it is very obviously aimed at pleasing straight men's fantasies about how women should look or behave sexually? There's a lot to unpack here as it all stems from patriarchy. If men put out a risque song - it was still the women around them that are objectified in the music videos. The majority of women who put out risque videos play straight into that narrative - that she is the perfect 'token' woman. Reclaiming female sexuality should be our goal and redefining the standards - it will take generations to undo though. A very well done music video about this issue is Halsey's Nightmare.

Because we are living in a male-dominated society that offers a huge market for „cheap sex“ for them to enjoy. Think about how many brothels or strip clubs are centered towards men - have you ever seen something like that for women? The only thing I can think of are the Chippendales and that’s about it. Women have always been objectified and used to please men, throughout every single century. I don‘t think that this mindset will ever change unfortunately. In the contrary: Even after being mostly equal to men regarding our rights, voting, having a career, etc. we‘re still objectified. This is the reason why I personally don‘t like to see female artists being almost naked or overly sexy on the stage or in music videos. Yes, they can do whatever the want but they‘re also normalizing that women show off like that and objectify themselves even more.
@aprilbennett41613 жыл бұрын
Men, as a whole, tend to be easily manipulated via lust, and it doesn't take a genius to take advantage of that tendency for fame and financial gain. It's typical to write it off as solely the predation by men, but, in truth, it is far from a one-way street. It is also true that women readily exhibit the same tendency, albeit to a lesser extent. Sex sells. All those pretty boy idol groups aren't an accident, for example. Women generally not being being as crude as men are doesn't negate us salivating and expecting our preferences to be met by men, too. Sorry, but men and women aren't as different as some play it out to be.

They definitely could've done this in a better, and maybe even successful way. There music should've never been marketed as 'teen'. Clean versions, yes. But not with the phrasing 'teen'. They could've focused on shocking lyrics rather videos, with scandalous yet not over the top costuming and choreo. The live show could've attracted people to them with new looks or special affects rather than a strip show. Then the magazine and lingerie launches would have had better chances at being successful.

Or rather, pronounced "naykt" instead of the usual "nay-kid"... Interesting... Is the youtube demonetization explanation really true? It doesn't seem likely, as there are thousands (millions?) of videos on KZbin where "naked" is pronounced correctly. Technically it's a lot easier to censor on the written word "naked" in texts/titles rather than some speech recognition technology... I thought it was just a mispronunciation. After all, there are many words that *should* be pronounced like that, "baked", "ached", "raked" (normal past participle pronunciation pattern for verbs), while "naked" follows another pattern (for adjectives, and verbs that end with 'd' or 't' ), "crooked", "wasted", "faded". On the other hand, the narrator (this youtube channel owner) pronounces all other words perfectly, so I don't really know...

A reason that women's breasts are "shocking" to most people when they randomly show up on the screen is because a practiced tradition from centuries ago was to conceal the breasts so they weren't seen by others. It was for her own chasity and for no one's pleasure. They're treated almost like genitals since they're covered by fabric like underwear would. I respect them if that's what they wanna do but I'm scared that kids must have seen it somehow. Yes skin is skin but there's a difference between age limit and mature content. I wouldn't want my 6 year old coming up to me showing this instead of nursery rhymes. Overall my reaction to them is sympathy. This is so interesting, never even knew they existed and I got into kpop at the start of second gen! I absolutely love sexy concepts, but I think the problem here was that they didn't actually have a concept or theme at all really. Just going naked doesn't really accomplish anything, it doesn't say anything. And as you noted, it's a one-time deal - after they do that, what else is there to explore with the idea? Had they actually turned the Naked News concept into something more, their group may have actually worked. Like even just turning the Naked News concept into a song and MV, something tongue-in-cheek, would have worked quite well and captured more interest and possibly launched some sort of career.

I think the problem with this group was that they relied too heavily on sex to sell instead of being sexy in a way that was less overt. They were a KPOP group after all so did they have good songs and choreography, which are two elements that KPOP idols are known for. I mean if you are on stage taking your top off, that is the same show you can get at a strip club. Plus I think the Asian market is a little more conservative than their American counterparts so I think that is also a reason why they didn't succeed. Even the American market would have thought this group was a bit too much I think. It was basically bordering on softcore pornography which is a whole other industry.

I love sexy girl groups as the shaming and entitlement of women's body in Korea is annoying and outdated so I'm all for sexy concepts that the members are comfortable with but clearly the company had no plans for them and if they cared st all they wouldn't have allowed it to go as far as it did or like I mentioned before they would have debuted them somewhere with less shane on sex and sexuality. I think the reason they did the lingerie was for the men to buy for their significant others, not so much for the straight men themselves.
