First Sean Baker film I watch, a friend of mine that is his fan recommended to go watch it... I was really pleasantly surprised with it! I didn't see much of his style and seeing drama/comedy I was a bit on the fence but I'm really glad I went to see it! It was funny and gut wrenching without feeling like a more comercial comedy drama... really need to go watch more of his films!

I’ve loved all of Sean Baker’s films in the cinema so was already looking forward to this. Also a longtime fan of Mikey Madison from her days on quirky but compelling tv show called Better Things, short episodes which I think you could really enjoy. By the way, I think her name is Mikey not Mickey, I only tell you this not to be pedantic but because I think she will have a long career so may as well know now.

Not pedantic at all. Only assumed it was pronounced Mickey as her name is Mikaela and I haven't heard anyone say it so far haha.

Anora? I barely know her!

I don't like Anora as much as you and most people seem to. For me, it is ok and the praise is "mostly merited". I wasn't sure on first watch. I went back for a second viewing and found it quite boring. In contrast I love Baker's previous three films and continued to enjoy them on re-watches. Maybe my expectations were too high.

@@steve4films could be a case of high expectations but maybe it just wasn’t totally for you and that’s totally fine! Glad you found some enjoyment in it at least

@ Yes, I think you’re right. Anora is maybe more for those into the Disney Princess fantasy. (which is a big audience). That said, Tangerine wasn’t exactly for me but I still thought it was incredible. 😀
