Ive been following and subscribed for a short while now but I can already tell your a true professional at your trade. I’m a 28yr mechanic with a Cat dealer and I load and unload equipment in our yard for years now. I can quickly tell when a float driver has his s*#t together. Always a pleasure working with guys like you. :). I’m in Sault Ste. Marie and have seen you pass through a few times. Maybe be able to chat someday if your stopped here. Thanks so much for the vids. I know its a lot of work to put great videos like this together. All the camera angles, i tip my hat to ya. :)

Thanks Mario! I deliver to the dealership in Lively from time to time but I don’t think I’ve been in the Sault St Marie yard. I delivered a new 988 to Bruce Mines last year. Maybe it was one of yours. Thanks for the encouragement. If guys like you continue watching the videos than I’ll continue making them 😊 Cheers

Just stumbled on your videos, and thought the truck looked familiar. I did some digging and your outfit hauled some over width (13' & 14') machine crates from Trois Rivieres to Southern NH for me a handful of years ago. Would have been pretty cool to see the load hauled down.

Have you ever moved any Cat 992’s? There is some big dudes! I have moved several in the mines in Southern Ohio, those mines have all been closed down now, I haven’t moved any for about 10-12 years now, it’s a shame it was good work and paid well! Moved their D-11s too. Did you thank them for the help unloading? Bastards!

The biggest loader I’ve done was a 990 and it doesn’t really count because they stripped it down. Quebec is a pain in the butt for superloads so all the really big machines get stripped down and go as multiple loads.

Hah, Doug. Every time I see you flip that axle I cringe. I pinched my fingers once "helping-out" with that and my index finger nail is still pinched to this day. LOL Love watching those big CATs getting loaded and hauled around the Country. They're massive, aren't they?

Luckily I still have all my fingers but I do know drivers less fortunate who have gotten hurt doing this. Accidents can happen fast and before you know it someone is on their way to the hospital. That’s why I try not to be in a rush. When you try and work too fast accidents happen.

Impressive move. But gee I'm bloody glad we don't have to jump through all the hoops that you guys do when moving this sort of gear in Western Australia. The trailers etc that we use here are so much more simple and easy to use - just drop the ramps and drive the machine up onto the deck, chain it down and away you go. But we don't have the height restrictions that you have, so can get away with a lot more. Check out Drake Trailers Australia. And we chew up the odd few cones through the roadworks here too. Our dolly spreads out to 12 or 14 foot wide (as does the float) - the dolly wheels usually manage to chew up the cones and spit them out before the float gets to them.
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407

I wish we didn’t need to deal with the height restrictions. The equipment in Australia and even Europe would really simplify things! Thanks for following ✌️

Sometimes you pull the trailer from under versus walking the machine off, why is that?
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 2 жыл бұрын
Different trailer. The beam on our 60 ton is too high and I would need to put a complete set of ramps down to walk the machine off. The 50 ton beam is lower. But I will pull even the small beam out from under a lower machine. A Hyster forklift for example has lower ground clearance so I’ll pull even the smaller trailer.

I’m curious as to how did you scale per axle?
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 2 жыл бұрын
Most scales have 3 plates ( steers, drives, trailer) so I I weighed my steers on the first plate, the drives on the second plate and the jeep on the third plate without having the trailer on the scale. Then I pulled forward so that the trailer was on the third plate and the jeep was completely off and weighed it again. On a CAT scale we call it a “split weigh” If you look back a few videos on the channel to the Baltimore load where I had a booster, I weighed the steers, drives and jeep and then pulled forward until the trailer was on the 2nd plate and booster on the 3rd plate and scaled again.
