Honestly it's a Hollywood trope that gets used a lot that the viewers are conditioned to see as normal: guy succeeds young, goes back to high school because he took time to hone his career because men can do that without consequences, meets younger naive girl who used/still does crush on guy because girl is still in school because she didnt succeed young, guy helps girl succeed because there's no way girl can succeed on her own, happy end. So yeah there's a lot of issues with this plot but for Hollywood it works.
