Another Electric Skateboard Adventure Ends in Belt Drive Failure.

Me & my all terrain electric skateboard had some unfinished backpacking business in Tiny on the Trans Canada Trail! With my AT eskate in tow, I return to where I bailed out on the TCT last year, and make another attempt at backpacking the TCT to complete the unfinished section in my coverage. Sadly, my belt drive suffered failure when, close to Barrie, I suddenly outright shred both my belts in the middle of a forest close to sundown! I managed to scrape out of that problematic situation and scoot on to Barrie, where I called it quits for the time being. Another Curse of Mike video!

ehhhh...... that's unfortunate Mike. it looked like a lovely trail and lovely weather. I giggled at the folks you passed. I honestly don't think most regular folks even know that they are on the TCT or they don't recognize the acronym. Even I have no idea where it goes. Soemtimes, I'm walking through some podunk inner city park and I see the symbol completely unaware that it could be the TCT. I've ran on so many of the trails without even knowing it. I guess because it snakes in and out of cities and parks. I think of you every single time I surprisingly find myself on the TCT and constantly think how awesome it would be to do what you do. I'd love to see more of it and put it together continuously. Keep plugging away, I fucking love these videos of your adventuring.

@@MikeInTheWoods I've looked at the map a few times and after writing that I went to look at it again. Its kind of goes all over the place! Heck, just the other day I was randomly running on the section between Paris and Cambridge on my way home from dropping work off in Paris and saw the logo. Thought of you. Pictured you skating down the trail I was running. I need to go out and intentionally do more pieces of it.

I haven't watched all the videos, so maybe you've already explained, but may I ask why not build just one battery, put a bluetooth BMS or at least a voltage display on the side of the box for SOC monitoring and use just one charger? The charger might have to be beefier though. But no need for swapping batteries and timing the level of discharge, lighter load on the cells, less weight and wires to carry and slightly lighter eskate as well. On a tangent, do you have any interest and/or experience building your own battery packs from cells?

Mostly just the cost of getting a single battery pack that size, and a charger that will get the charging time to 3h and under. I'm not particularly averse to that setup. Was looking at a Lacroix Lonestar Supersport for a while. Mostly it's just that this is how my original setup evolved And yeah, I've built one battery pack on my own; a custom 372 wh 12S1P sodium ion battery
