I would take the time to separate the SOH "strings", root them and then when repotting purposefully place them in the soil. Maybe then they won't end up being a clump. Crazy Plant Guy did that to his SOH and it is amazing.

LOL Nice batch of cuttings. So funny last night I pulled several well rooted cuttings out of my prop cage planning to pot them up today. Then late I was reading on Reddit and some one mentioned they would like to have a certain plant one day and it happened to be in my cuttings stash. BOOM those cuttings she was wishing for and all the others I was going to have to pot up and find homes for are all on the way to her. Both of us grateful her to get the plants, me for not having to deal with potting and then finding homes for. My pots are already full and I have no room for more plants. PS love your hair.

instead of “wasting” my healthy and ✨juicy✨ SOH’s leaves, I put them in a spag prop box. I honestly didn’t expect them to do anything, I just couldn’t throw them away lol, but they actually rooted up! I recently potted them in soil and I’m curious to see if they’ll make it or if they’ll just croak.

Same! Grows well in winter too! It fascinates me how they feel like cardboard, lol. And Fern, you can tell whether it needs water or not by lightly squeezing/ bending the leaves. If it doesnt need water on bottom leaves near base, it doesnt need water. If theyre flexible, i wait an extra day or 2 before watering. I water mine once to 2 times a month

I admire your steadfastness in sticking with those ‘strings of plants’ as I do love the leaves, but hate the skinny tangly stems, and totally gave up on mine ! I had quite a full pot of the regular SOH but every time I moved it to water it, all the stems re-tangled - Aarh ! Love watching progress of all those juicy roots growing 👍🏼💚

I have my regular string of hearts growing in a large pot... kept propagating it and it was easier to devide and keep the strands separated with that larger pot. Originally it was on the top of my plant stand with all of the strands flowing down evenly from the top. Though I did notice that when it was growing this way only the side closest to the west window flowered the ones facing inside the room just grew bigger leaves.
@LostInThePlants2 жыл бұрын
Hey Fern, Tech Plant made a video on changing water when propagating plants and it seems like changing it hinders the root growth of the cutting. That might be why the hoya hasn't rooted yet if you're changing it often. I think the plant releases growth hormones into the water and sets it back every time you change it out. I usually just change the water when it gets gross :)
@cannuck35772 жыл бұрын
Lol me too... I have it in clear glass and just wait till you can see it's due for a change just by looking through the glass. Plus I'm crazy busy and forget😏

I think that you will enjoy the peperomia hope. You may also like the peperomia elongata. Some advice that may help is to bottom water your peperomia. I find that peperomias are not just prone to root rot, but stem rot as well. I killed two peperomia hopes when I first started collecting them. However, the one that I have now, I've had for over a year and she as well as all of my other peperomias are thriving. Also, I keep mine in plastic pots so that I can really feel when they need watering. I hope that you enjoy her!

I took three begonias out of my cabinet and I was soooo worried!! I just ran my humidifier in the general area that I placed them in...
