Hello could you please do a detailed sparring guide for touch control and full contact also that exercise where your foot came round the back instead of in front is great that’s just like how my club taught it

That side kick is a thing of beauty mate, great video!

In our dojo, we step over the front foot to do either the side thrust kick or side snap kick. I have to try your method, Bruce Lee style as it seems to be an easier setup. Thank you 👍

I watched that Bruce Lee movie many times, and it never occured to me that he crosses behind! That's what I call style blindness!! lol

It's the same in Tae Kwon Do or Tang Soo Do methinks with that step Behind..💪 thanks Chuck Norris for influencing the Bruce.❤ 😊 Or maybe it was from his TanTui wushu form from all them reverse back steps , what we call "kosa-dachi" (set ups for throws ) 🤔 Must try this more to get a feeling for it and the "loading" under.

in my dojo they teach us in kata the same way to wich for me till this day does not make sense , nobody kicks like that , it's eighter stepping infront of the standing leg or legs are together in a side stance and you do the snapkick , all i know is that senseis that teach it this way have leaned it from their master and so on but they haven't changed it but they shld in my opinion 😅😅

I don't recommend getting a physique like his though. John is into heavy weight training. That is not optimal for speed. Better look into Bruce Lee's plan; just google "Bruce Lee workout". You will see that he favoured light weights, but executed explosively. For example, he did squats with 40kg only, but as fast as possible. As far as nutrition goes, it really is all about protein intake at the end: you need to ingest between 1,2 and 1,6g of high quality protein per kg bodyweight per day. So the average 75kg man would need 90 to 120g of protein per day. High quality protein means from animal food! Meat, fish, eggs, dairy! Vegetable sources are not well absorbed by the body! (1g from animal products roughly equates 2g from plant sources!)

@@sassuki Id rather be much stronger and fast, than much faster but significantly weaker.
@sassuki21 күн бұрын
@@jared07x you mean Bruce Lee was weak or what?? hhhh Speed is the most important factor, as it is squared, but mass is halfed! When you train heavy, you lose speed. So for example, if you weigh 70kg and kick at 60km/h, that's a cinetic energy of 126T Let's say you build 10kg of muscle, but because of that, now your kick got a bit slower at 55km/h, that's only 121T! You lost 5T cinetic energy because of bulking! lol

I also dont understand whenat least in my Shotokan dojo they teach leg go front of the other leg (this feels unnatural to me) when I had used to kick before karate (I trained Krav Maga 3 years) leg behind other leg (Bruce Lee) style, when at least I get much more power to the kick, maybe since as you said it forces to do it right/use right muscles. Thank you for this video so now Im sure Im not the only one who likes to do this Bruce Lee style which makes much more sense to me if you want to kick with full power.
@crisalcantara76717 сағат бұрын
i agree i'll ask my sensei about it altough i know half the answer already witch is , the senseis that teach it the akward way if that is the correct term to use is because they want to preserve the old style of what they have been taught by their senseis and so on but never tried to modify it , i get that when you're in a bladed stance your're mostly taught that when you step forward you back leg would step befoe your standing leg normally but to do a side kick you step behind the kicking leg , even in kata you normally shoot the kick out from the side of the standing leg only in a kiba dachi kata i've learned is this still existend , strange .

@@crisalcantara7671 Actually when I was white or yellow belt I asked about this from one sensei that can side kick with a step done by supporting leg going behind kicking leg and he didnt deny it and said something that if you want to kick really hard then its better or ok. I know the rules come from Japan at least in my dojo and I understand they want to keep old things and its ok for me in kata. Sometimes we are told to kick as hard as we can when sensei holds bag and then I do it with leg going back and add a bit of jump to it and sure sensei feels it and goes backwards =) In real agression situation certainly would go leg back with side kick since leg front is just unnatural way to kick with full force.

biggest problem i witnessed is that teachers don't teach their students correvtly how the mechanics of certain moves work , it really bugs me , like teach the darn thing so they can do it correct from the start but they teach them a part and let them figure it out for them selfes and some even take years to figure it out lol but you exlain everything very well hope it's suposed to be .

Quite often they don’t know it themselves to be able to teach it ..
