Another West Virginia Mountain House Exploration

Please join us as we continue up the mountain to yet another West Virginia log cabin site, this one near the mountain top. The old log cabin has been gone for generations but the cellar hole and many of the stone features are still there. We metal detect the site and find some interesting historical relics.

Those old glass milk bottles helped put me through college back about 10 years ago. I lived by an old building surrounded by woods, that used to be a school back in the 40s-60s and I’d dig out anywhere from 50-100 whole glass milk bottles, most embossed near the edge of the wood line behind that building. Sold the bottles to antique dealers for anywhere between $20-50 a bottle. Helped pay for college books 😂

Chigg, That looked like some kind of fuse. It amazes me that this house which obviously was well built, can return to nature so quickly. I would love to know when it was last standing. Could be as late as 1970... just so puzzling. Cheers, Rik Spector

What beautiful stones, wow, almost blue color. That little glass bubble reminds me of a decoration from a decorative lamp, sort of like chandelier type hangings. A fancy lamp, but as you say "I could be wrong"! Love he bottles you find.

Glad you found the buttons. I’m beginning to think age is setting in because of your impatience with digging carefully with the shovel. I’d like to compare it with having a “lead foot”, as in “lead shovel”.🙃 Or perhaps it was of a lack of daylight and an anxiety to hurry up, or perhaps just lack of energy against annoying roots. I hope that you can find the patience to present your good finds after cleaning them and continue to tell us a little about them at some point in time, even if you think you are only repeating yourself. Thank you for the outing and your continued efforts to show detecting in an area that not everyone gets to experience. May the camera be easily found.

Enamel button you found could be edwardian and up to the 30's. The small glass marble looking piece was probably the glass part for a Christmas ornament. Mustard jars made great jelly jars, sealed them with wax but could still put a lid on them. Fun explore Chig. I know your wanting older/civil war era, I just love old treasures anything from WW 2 and before. Thanks for sharing!

Did you all know that the Appalachian mountains are the oldest in the world. They were formed 480 million years ago. They were actually the size of the Rockies and the Alps. But from Erosion for millions of years they are now at the altitude they are at now.

Awesome adventure guys. I'm was an interesting as part one. A beautiful place to be out in the woods this time of year. An yes, at another time I believe it would be a good place to dig around in the cellar part of the old home place. They may not have had alot of money but someone had some coins or they couldn't have bought all those shell casings. An if someone else was hunting there years ago then they may have dropped some silver or gold we just never know whats out there waiting for us to discover. Great video chigg..thanks for taken us along on the adventure. It was as awesome as the first part. As always safe an happy hunting/digging. 😁👍👍

About 23:30 the ring with the flat surface in the inner circle is a car radio knob shaft bezel. Went next to dash, then a nut to hold the radio then the knobs went on the shaft , tuning or volume and tone. Wish you could find some good coins , not so many Mason jar lids!
