My heart goes out to you both. I’d love to see you and Shea become big advocates for RV fire safety. That includes making RVs SO much safer - fire safe materials, flooring, upholstery, coatings, etc. 💜💜💜

Still feel the raw emotions, and I just have to say, I'm happy to see you guys with a little smile here and there. Breaks my heart seeing the burnt photos and personal effects.... But like Andrew mentioned, I'm just glad you guys are still with us! That is the silver lining! Love ya guys!

Andrew I can relate to your concerns about leaving your four legged fam members alone in your bus. Every time we leave our three in our coach, I’m always worrying about their safety. And what happens if there’s a fire? My wife says I’m too paranoid and I need to chill. Ain’t gonna happen! You and Shea will be back on top in no time. Keep up the great work guys!

Andrew! We know the feeling! We had a van back in 93 that caught fire pulling our 29 ft camper! We were head out with our children on business when we noticed smoke! We pulled to the berm of the road! The van was engulfed in no time! Thank God we and our children made it out safe! The camper was not burned but we decided never to tow again and went to our First Class A! I still worry! God sure had his angels with you all! God Bless and pray you all get settled and get lives back in order!

God bless you both! Just so happy for you that you got out safely. Fire has always been a concern of mine, as we are on our 9th year of full time living and everything we own is in our coach! We do have several ABC fire extinguishers, but will pick up some halon as well for the bedroom area. I use to do safety talks for major corporations and told them that it isn't the fire but the smoke that you need to be aware of and get out. Once you have passed out , you are done!

It is very good to see you are rebounding from the fire! Many of us that have been around RV's for any length of time are aware of losses like yours. So glad that you all got out, and kudos for all in the RV community and elsewhere for all the help and support that you have received - some great suggestions, especially about having an emergency bag to grab if necessary, something we should all think about. Also, a special mention to the Fire Department for all they have done for you and continue to do. I'm just an ordinary bloke from England but I'd like to wish you all the best for your future adventures in the RV world and will follow your journey. Steve

Thanks for the update, the go-bags are a good idea, I am somewhat into sailing and we always keep the essentials packed for the worst case scenario, never had to use them, but a friend of mine once got into a hairy situation, boat started sinking, fortunately they were close enough to shore and managed to beach it before it went down

Glad to see you guys were able to salvage some sentimental items. It is going to take a while to get over the fire but every day you move forward is another step away from the tragedy. We are about 2.5 months out from our fire and still in shock sometimes. We went to Tampa Rv show and Ocala and its still hard walking into a rig without picturing it on fire. Doesn't help that on ay home from Ocala we saw a Class A on side of 75 on fire being put out by fire department. Hope those ppl are ok as well. Look forward to seeing you guys getting back out there but take your time and do it for yourselves not anyone else.
@gen2-x3642 жыл бұрын
Like Shea mentioned having a go-bag ready is a smart idea. I have had a go-bag for years in my home and I keep modifying it from time to time. Just peace of mind. I also made a list of the most important things to grab if I had to leave quickly. That's how I roll. Even though I have insurance I would still have a few things at the minimum. Fire-rated safes can at least buy some time depending on the safe. Maybe in an RV I probably would have a fire-rated safe for cash and documents, etc. Good to hear that you'll have another RV going forward. I like the way Electric Bikes stepped up for you and the Newell Coach family.....Nice to have friends like that. Stay safe.

So glad you guys are safe! The wife and I full timed in a motor home for 18 years, we visited “Colaw RV junk yard” it was amazing to see what a RV looked like after a fire. It really hit home on one of our trips back here from Florida, they had one of our motor homes. It had burned only three feet of some of the outside wall’s remained even the floor was gone you could see the ground.

Good to see progress and positivity with you both. There are lessons here and I appreciate you, and others sharing and benefitting from even bad experiences like this. Among all great RV luxury features, a fire suppression system seems a smart necessity. Also, I am reminded the value of having personal photos and mementos digitized so they can be more easily shared, stored and preserved. Years ago we bought a digital media firesafe vault that features high temperature protection plus has an inner seal that fuses with heat to keep the contents waterproofed. We keep backup drives and valuable documents in it. Above all, whether in an RV or a house everyone should definitely keep a bug-out ready to grab and go. Life is most precious, so if an emergency arrives take care of life first, GO without delay, risk or thought of getting your "stuff." Practice this. Finally, on this eve of daylight savings time change, a reminder to replace batteries in smoke and CO detectors. Safe travels everyone!

God Bless you both and your dogs. So glad you were able to escape with what's really important - each other. This is a wake-up call for all RV'ers. I know as a result of what you experienced, I think differently each time we get into our RV - have a go-bag, make sure smoke and CO detectors are in working order, keep multiple fire extinguishers in working order, have an escape plan.

Thank you so much for letting us experience this with you. It's a real eye opener In this, let's say more higher end side of RVing. The lesson I learned, is fire & electricity don't care how much you spent on your coach! It will take everything &, even more. So maybe you could consider adding a fire or RV safety focused episode, 1 or 2 times a year to your channel. Like Newell if they read this. I'd really like to know, what emergency exit you have for ccupants trapped in the rear of your coach. I genuinely don't even know if you have one & I've seen a few newells, here & wide. I'm pretty sure it's legally required, but... I think prevost windows pop out, but I don't really know. It really is easy to overlook safely when considering a high end coach. Because Safety is posted everywhere in manufactured RVs. Not so much in custom.

So sorry to hear about everything you’re going through, on my XLII The previous owner installed a fire suppression system in the engine bay and the generator bay, when I had my coach serviced last week, sitting next to mine was a completely burned out H3 from a generator fire, you’re so right about making sure you have fire detectors/fire extinguishers available just so you can get out safely. I honestly don’t think that if I had a fire in my coach and I was sleeping in the back bed or one of the bunks that I would make it out, it’s something that I think about every day w/ these used entertainer coaches. Having a mid door coach can be a lifesaver, I wish you both nothing but success in life, onward and upward
@terrysandiego2 жыл бұрын
Some ideas for more peace of mind because you are right to be concerned and you only have about 30 seconds to be decisive before the fumes take you out and the ceiling turns into a broiler. 1. We kept a large fire extinguisher AND a hatchet in the back of the coach. The hatchet was to break out the middle divide between the two windows because only one side was meant for an exit and we knew that it was too small and we wanted to be able to maneuver out of it so as to try to land feet first... 2. We also placed a large extinguisher behind and to the left of the driver's seat. The small original extinguisher remained by the door. 3. We installed extra air-quality detectors front and back. But, then, our coach burned in our driveway while we were not in it--Not a bad thing.
