Anschutz 1761 MSR Head-to-Head: SK Long Range Match and SK Rifle Match ARA Unlimited

Anschutz 1761 ARA Unlimited with SK Long Range Match and SK Rifle Match.
While it was not a perfect day, it was a good day. The wind was 5 mph to 10 mph, making flags doable. In this head-to-head I shot SK Long Range Match (SKLRM) and SK Rifle Match (SKRM). I also threw in a single SK Standard Plus target for reference. There were several other shooters at the range a break on the first set of SKLRM targets after Some Sighters
I have been testing ammo head-to-head fashion as this has worked well with my other rifles. The head-to-head over-time approach seems to better account for variations in daily conditions, my shooting, etc. than the single calm day. Others may have different experiences or views. So, while scores on a given day are relatively higher or lower, the same conditions are in play for each which go to an accumulation table. This table will be used, when sufficient data allows, a determination is possible. It operates a bit like a dope table.
It was about 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and the winds were in the 5 mph to 10 mph range. It was partly cloudy. The wind was not great but made flags doable.
I was shooting from a bench. The rifle, with a Sinclair front bag rider, was sitting in a Grizzly Bald Eagle rest. The rear rest was a Protektor #13 bag sitting on a custom rear bag rider. The rear bag rider removes the effect of any cast in a rifle stock. The scope is a Swampfox Kentucky Long in 5 to 30 x 56mm.
The targets are ARA Open or Unlimited class targets set at 50 yards. Each target was placed in the same location on the stand.

Nice to see the results 😊 I also have had better performance with SK Rifle Match 😊 Although I haven't shot the long range past 50 yards yet. I think it is a wee bit hotter and might perform really well for me at 100. I can't wait to see. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊 Very interesting!

This personally is the best way to test ammo, groups are good for siting but the cards tell the truth. I shoot a uk rimfire target to do my testing, I’m a cheapscate and the uk target i use has the same size 100 ring as the ara unlimited target, but it is printer friendly. But high score wins. In my testing so far my highest scores have been consistently shot with sk rifle match with eley tenex biathlon a very close second. Would love to see more testing videos using your b14r, just so i can compare your results with mine lol.

It more important about lot#’s that work in your rifle. That doesn’t meen it will work well in any of your viewers rifle. Waste of time talking about it.

Well, yes and no. Many of us do not lot test for various reasons. Those that do lot test often seem to rely on a single test to make a major long-term decision. What I do here is vary lots across the head-to-heads tests. When a test is run it uses a single lot, but the next test often uses a different lot. Though the sample here is too small, the cumulative data over many head-to-heads test is suggesting that the variation within lots is reflected in the amount of variation between lots. So that for those that don't lot test the cumulative data can point out the best option for the next purchase. So while no one test, lot or non-lot tested means much, the over time and comparative performance data helps. Small samples, for any procedure, are unreliable.
