I love that you do this AND take the time to put something relevant behind it(visually) So many lazy KZbinrs with good words to offer but fall short coz it’s just them talking to a camera, or worse. This is both watchable and great for audio only!

Touching base on this, it would be great if more content creators would do videos taking into consideration the following: When coaching (and also when learning), always be aware of which style suits the student better. There are three main cognitive learning styles: visual (I see, I learn), auditory (I listen, I learn), and kinesthetic (I learn by doing it through action). We all learn using the 3 of them, but there are free tests out there that people can take to better understand which main type of learners they are, therefore boosting their speed of learning.

Also, if your cores won't take the stacks maybe you should take them yourself eventually. Picking a support hero who can take them efficiently will help a lot with this.
@sebastianGunnarson716 ай бұрын
This is not something you should have to consider. Pick whatever support you want, make stacks when you have space on the map to do so and when you have a core who can farm them. If some games You have moronic cores who refused to take the stacks so be it. This type of stuff isn’t going to help you climb significant mmr. I mean what you’re saying isn’t a horrible idea, it’s just nowhere near as important as actual fundamentals of the game and for this to be the top comment just shows you all are thinking about the wrong things.
@sebastianGunnarson716 ай бұрын
Actually I take that back, this is a horrible idea. This should not be a consideration at all when picking your hero
@TheGlenn86 ай бұрын
@@sebastianGunnarson71 Different brackets have different metas and if you're in a bracket where cores just don't farm stacks it's actually a good idea to make choices with this in mind. It's not like you aren't learning the game while doing this. You're still thinking about when you should stack and learning how to do it efficiently. You're now just also learning when it's smart to be greedy for yourself as a support which is a useful skill.
@Takotino6 ай бұрын
@@TheGlenn8If stacks restricts your hero picks, it's better to not stack at all and play the hero you want or have confidence in. There's a reason why pros have their "comfort pick/signature pick" even if the match up isn't good. Stacks are great but it's definitely not the most important thing for supports to do. Lane prescence, kill threat in lane, positioning in fights, et cetera are way more important than stacks. Unless you're already good at those, better stop focusing (not stop doing it) on stacks.👍

7:20 There's a bit more to it. I just noticed that the tooltip doesn't include the +3 Mana regen, which Axe really needs in the late game. You can also disassemble Vanguard into the Bloodstone, so the buildup is better. 9:00 I wouldn't recommend heal/save heroes to lower-ranked players, because of the team-dependence. Undying/Enchantress for lane, Disruptor/Bane before 22 minutes, AA/Zeus for breaking Blink. 10:10 The author probably prefers early tanky melee supports. Necro sucks before lvl 4 in lane, so picking a good laner with a long-range stun that you can play in solo-queue is good. Clockwerk comes to mind. Buy Windlace, Q + run at people, buy a Salve -- less about trades, more about killthreat. Item build is pretty flexible, because you don't really depend on an item. If you get a few kills, you can maybe Midas and scale into a core with a kill item like Blademail/Orchid, or frontlining with BKB.
@arquloc08936 ай бұрын
About the IO complexity question. Another thing is that yes, he requires coordination to function best - but he also really doesn't do anything by himself when played as a support. You don't have a stun, you don't have waveclear, you don't solo kill anyone, you don't push towers. So it's really about the huge tradeoff too, almost any other hero does atleast one of these things. So if you pick IO, and your cores don't play with you, you can't really do much about it.

@GiantBUThead6 ай бұрын
Io is hard not because his abilites are hard but because of the insane positioning and coordination needed to play him. You are basically a living buff for your carry, however you're extremely squishy and easy to dive. If your team does not control the enemy divers they will straight up walk up and destroy you and you don't have a way to combat that, as while his tether does dash you to an ally, you're already linked in a fight and even if you disable the tether, it will go on cooldown long enough for them to burst you most of the time. Same with his ultimate, it is great for saving allies if they're being focused but if you're being focused you will die before it teleports you away. Plus it teleports you right back in after 10 seconds and the enemies will get another free kill but you would also lose your ult. The other thing that's hard about him and his positioning is keeping tether online while kiting and running away from enemies. As I mentioned, you're probably gonna be focused first in fights and the enemy knows you will be kind of stationary because you want to play around the person you've linked. If they cannot or do not want to deal with whoever is hunting you, you die. You can break the tether and try to run away but at that point you're more useless than giving the buffs to your carry for 5 seconds and dying, as Io doesn't do anything but give buffs. If you break the tether to run, the best thing you can do is somehow stall the enemy chasing you enough to win time for your team to fight a 4v4, while the enemy is chasing a useless Io. However as I already said, most enemies will either kill you very quick and you will not create any space for your team or they will outright drop you at which point you can rejoin the fight and repeat the process. It's funny how Yuumi in league is supposed to be the equivalent of Io but she deals respectable damage and has invunerability making her the absolute easiest champion in League, while the fact that Io is just a walking buff, that's very vunerable makes him one of the hardest heroes in dota. In addition to good positioning, his ultimate needs absolute coordination with your teammates, map awareness and timing. You don't want to force your carry in a place or fight he does not want to be in, you do not want to teleport into 5 people while attempting to do a simple gank on a support in the early game and you want to be very careful where you reposition your teammate, as to not teleport them into a teamfight ultimate like static storm or chorono. In addition it's important if you leave the teammate at the new location or take them away, you have to be able to assess the fights and if it's winnable in the 10 seconds you have and can your team win the fight without you. In a won fight you want to think if you want to bring your carry back so he can farm some other lane or leave him to push or do an objective. And finally Io's ultimate is an insane save tool but the timing is very hard as it has a long cast time and you need to be able to time it so you teleport your ally away before they die. This also depends on fight assessment as it's possible to also grief teammates that look like they're in trouble but they're doing fine and your attempt to "save" them can make your team lose a fight. I'd say Io is the hero that relies the most on game sense in dota. Yes there are harder heroes mechanically but in order to play him you need to know what you're doing and when to do it.
@HRZ_126 ай бұрын
also io's laning phase is so bad if your core pick a hero that cant save you when you get dived at level 1 (like faceless void for example) in this situation its basically a 1 v 2 since io doesnt have any thing to trade damage or just to survive. ive seen an io pos 5 with a faceless void and io just kept getting dived by centa lesh combo everytime he shows in lane.

I think the comparison between IO and Yuumi is quite interesting, but only because of the many ways the two differ. The biggest difference is how Yuumi is invulnerable when attached to her various teammates, and will always follow them around perfectly. IO is not invulnerable in the slightest, nor does he automatically stick to his allies, and so requires a significantly higher baseline level of awareness to play

I went up from 2.7 to 5.6 with this learning process. Think from 1-10 how well you are that day. Play ranked only if you're above 8, unranked otherwise. And from lost rankeds I chose 1 of the below 3 (for around 5 mins) to improve: 1. Check your first 3 deads (and learn from it) 2. Check one part of the game (early/mid/late) and learn what you can do better 3. Check gold/xp graphs and notice the huge changes, check the timers in the game and even try to think what could go better or watch the replay at that time to learn Take little notes and do little improvements (one step at a time). There are great content creators to improve your gameplay but even if you see the videos we don't usually do the same stuff in our games, so we gotta check why and improve it :) Love the videos tho'

@@HRZ_12 you can’t win all games. If you have bad teammates you just gotta move on and do the best you can, we also do mistakes as they do (even if we’re not dying). I’ve noticed that as long as you try to improve things that you lack the most: e.g. positioning, retake fights, pushing, etc. In more than 50% of the games you’ll have a better game than the same role from the opposite team. And with the learning process I did, I noticed many mistakes I did through the game. Since I’m supp I improved many time factors, blocking camps, harrasing, going for rune at 4/6, xp rune etc. but as a hc you gotta improve other topics

8:25 im going to adress the issue that supports usually picks 1st, then offlane 2nd, so you can't effectively counter them. You need to adapt your gameplay with harass, pulls, positioning, items etc. for lane, you need to gauge the power of your pair vs enemy pair. If you have kill potential and enemy have no escape, playing aggressive is most likely the correct way to win your lane (e.g. cm+ursa vs mirana+ns). If power are roughly equal, check if you have better trading vs enemy pos 4.

I didn't see a single comment you replied to but none were questions so let's shoot my shot. I came back to Dota 2 this year. Wıth like a 7 year break so gone from 7.21 to 7.35. Became a DK spammer. 80ish games with him over 60% winrate. The hero worked really well for me. But now he is reworked and I can't fill the exact hole he left. General info, I'm herald 5, I usually play mid and like 95% of my games with DK were mid. Here is why I love the old DK so much. You're a late game powerhouse. Not like a raid boss kind of powerhouse, a lot heroes can do that. DK is the hero who is lurking inside trees 60% of the time. You get manta you shove waves with your illusions. Sure, other heroes can do that. But after Aghanim it is you and you illusions. After Bloodthorne you stalk the map. Taking highground is so easy with this hero, just hide in the trees. I play Slardar mid, Leshrac, Sniper, Tiny. Good heroes, impactful, powerful but I can't find the same success. With DK i didn't care what my team did, they are feeding left and right? Doesn't matter, I just need to hit my timings. Got Manta? Start lane shoving. Got Aghanims? You can play wherever you want on the map now, so long as you have seconds in your dragon form. Bloodthorne? Stalk, my boy. I miss him. Sadly never got to play him in his full glory.

If you're in a pub game pn solo queue, just don't stack before the wisdom rune. Not saying you can't stack earlier but it's a safer play due to many reasons: 1. Enemy may see it when contesting wisdom rune 2. You're up against an aggressive lane and your mate may get zoned alone. 3. Few aoe or two weak to clear atm. To say a few.

Having low deaths on support might be actually really "bad", unless you know what you are doing. It can mean you play well, but as well that you dont take risks. In lane as Warlock you might be just passive, not doing a lot, so you survive under tower, but your carry is kinda screwed, as well you might push out wave with your spells, which might put your core into risk as he needs to go deeper. If you are passive, that might ruin his game. Later on for example you can start running to save yourself instead of just keep slowing to allow your 3 teammates to survive. Basically with Warlock I would say you are OK dying as long as you drop your spells and honestly I will prefer Warlock dying while slowing enemy team and forcing them to bkb try to kill him then one, who starts running.. Because Warlock is worthless in fight once he expends his cooldown.

excited for io guide just started playting the game again after like 5 years. Ive played over 100 io games since ive come back and havent ever seen a comprehensive guide. I just recently hit legend to put my skill in to prespective for the questions im about to ask. I feel when playing IO that its incredibly difficult to go do things on your own because I dont buy boots. So warding offensively can be difficult but even warding defensively is too. I also find it difficult to stack camps without risk of being jumped. I feel like I can help my HC farm faster early game but I also dont want to steal his XP but im not sure what to do because I feel like I should stay with him in case I can relo him into a fight. Itemization can also be difficult sometimes, specifically what to buy going into different lane matchups early game. I also really struggle getting gold while playing io and feel like its too dangerous to shove waves out on my own. These are my general concerns hopefully you can provide any insight to these questions. THANK YOU and good luck making the guide ill be watching

I feel like I once had a good Dota 2 idea right when the patch dropped but the credit isn't given. I only posted it unter your video by the way. Love you videos! For a video idea: I can barely make my IRL friends use "new" items that released after 2015 when we stopped playing. Now we picked it up again. I feel like I have to do an enormous good play with an item to make them see the use. It's even harder for things like Pavise. I recently got my friends into lotus orb. Now they buy it even in situations that are mediocre at best but they are enjoying it. Some cool and funny interactions with "new items" for noobs would be amazing. They are smart. All engineers, doctors, etc. but family life prevents them from reading patch notes.
