Why are penguins that docile towards humans? Is it like with dogs where they think of people as just weird looking penguins like themselves?
@BloodstainedSinner9 жыл бұрын
It's because they don't understand what we are. Their contact with us is minimal, as any human they see in those climates is certainly a researcher, who won't harm or intentionally scare them. All they know about humans is that we're an odd species that they find percular, while expecting us to not be harmful to them.
@titan1337607 жыл бұрын
BloodstainedSinner Plus they also have no land based predators which may explain that behavior

What is this bowing head and throat revving sound gesture? Establishing territory? Defensiveness? The shaking head and clacking seems to be something too. The beak bobbing up and down might be... a warning? Not sure. :/
@XSemperIdem53 жыл бұрын
They make those noises as a greeting to each other or when they're excited. I believe they have more of a communication than we realize. They have a unique call that's almost the equivalent of introducing themselves by name. When their chicks are born, they practice making the call to them and the chick makes his/her call to the parents. That way they can find each other in the colony.

@AureliusR5 жыл бұрын
It's a penguin greeting. I'm not %100 sure about this, but notice how after they do that stance and that sound, they usually make some sort of head movement, either shaking side to side or stretching their necks. They are expecting you to mimic the head movement as a greeting. They are probably very confused why these big penguins keep ignoring them after they keep saying "Hello!" over and over.
@XSemperIdem53 жыл бұрын
@@AureliusR if I ever get the opportunity to go there, I feel obligated to learn penguin greeting behavior and come up with my version of a penguin call to use as a greeting. I should be a courteous guest in their home 😂
