The First Philippine Republic had two Presidents namely Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo and Gen. Miguel Malvar, who assumed the presidency after aguinaldo's capture as he was on Aguinaldo's will on his line of succession in case of death or capture it was later affirmed and recognized by the Hong Kong Junta however despite all of these Gen. Malvar was currently not recognized by the current Philippine Government. The First Philippine Republic had also two Prime Ministers: Apolinario Mabini and Pedro Paterno

@henriquesagasta70863 жыл бұрын
@@marcgetalada8809 no...it was Malvar because after Aguinaldo was captured on March 23, 1901 in Palanan, Isabela. Gen. Malvar was one of the remaining generals under the First Philippine Republic. Malvar, as the highest ranking general left took the office as President on April 1, 1901. After Malvar's surrender on April 12, 1902, Macario Sakay took control and established his own TAGALOG REPUBLIC on May 6, 1902. The reason why Sakay is not a potential claimant to be included as one of the presidents of the Philippines is because of his Tagalog Republic. The Tagalog Republic only controled the mountain parts of Morong (now province of Rizal). Unlike Malvar who is assumed as President of the First Philippine Republic

American (as in from the United States) culture has also become intertwined with the the nations culture as well. However, though Spanish is no longer the most spoken language and the culture is a mix of many cultures, the impact of the the Spanish on their culture is still prevalent enough for the nation to be considered Hispanic

Plus they ruled the Philippines for over 300+ years and yeah they did so much stuff. The Americans did some horrific atrocities during the Philippine-American war like; Rape, Pillage, Burning Houses, and some Massacres. These crimes were quite rare, except for the burning houses part. But yeah the Americans helped develop the Philippines, and established a commonwealth in 1935. The Japanese are self-explanatory.

@Milordvega3 жыл бұрын
I disagree. The current translation is the one closest. It even refers to the "poema de tu amada libertad" (poem of your beloved freedom) and the "tu pabellón que en las lides la victoria iluminó, no verá nunca apagados sus estrellas ni su sol") (your flag that lit the victory in battles will never see their stars nor sun extinguished), which is seen in the current lyrics "may dilag ang tula at awit sa paglayang minamahal" and "ang kislap ng watawat mo'y tagumpay na nangniningning, ang bituwin at araw niya kailan pa may 'di magdidililm" The previous Tagalog versions were beautiful but not as close to the original Spanish.

1:18 "No te hollarán jamás" and NOT "No te hallarán jamás" The correct one has the meaning of "the invaders will never trample upon you" which is much closer to the Tagalog, "Sa manlulupig di ka pasisiil." The incorrect one "hallarán" (if you insist on using it) would have the meaning of "the invaders will never 'find' you." Hallar is an old Spanish verb that means to find, ie, el hallazgo en el templo: "the finding in the temple" whereas "hollar" has the meaning of to step on or to trample upon, ie, "Sa mananakop di ka magpapaapak (pasisiil)"

I am a Proud Filipino, musician and historian. Our recent constitution (laws) under President Duterte does not allow its composition (notes, lyrics, etc.) to be moved or rearranged. But I keep my own arrangement of Lupang Hinirang for reserve (not in public) and just in case for auditions. My arrangement resembles the music of Canada, US, and Ghanna and more majestic. Though, the recent arrangement of Lupang Hinirang, that sounds like a struggle for freedom gives a remarkable history and strong preservation of Filipino freedom.

@@mjmc92592 @Mark Carriedo Hey, be educated! Remember that Filipinos are not the only KZbin audiences. And think twice. Like other Filipinos as well as other nations, some people used the English language as a medium of communication to show formality so anyone would understand others comment very well. Learn how to read other comments, they showed formality, too. And it is not polite to use Tagalog language to state stupid "words". I think it is not really a Filipino pride.

I never knew some of this. (Except the Marcha Real, Marcha Nacional Filipina, English Version of Lupang Hinirang and The Current National Anthem.) I've never heard those lyrics with the Lupang Hinirang tone until I saw this video. I was confused when those anthem were played, and was in shock. I was a little offended about that, but I can't do anything since that's part of history. It is amazing and unbelievable!

Great compilation, although I just want to point out that our republics coincide with the constitution ratified at the time. It is because the Third Republic was shown in the video to last until 1965 (by the time Marcos won the elections), which not accurate. It should last until 1973 when another Constitution was ratified, and after then the Fourth Republic (1973-1987) began. This means that Marcos is a president of both the Third and Fourth republics. And dahil dito sa technicalities, Cory Aquino is also technically a president of the Fourth Republic, since our current constitution (1987) was only ratified a year after she took office (1986). Parang yung transition lang din to ng Commonwealth and Third Republic eras during the time of Roxas (which you showed in the vid, so that's great). Just a minor gripe but it will make the vid a little bit better. Overall, I love this compilation. Thank you.
