I am all for boycotts... but if you only do a week... They will factor it in to their budget for future projects and move on... If you actually stopped playing.... Yes, FOREVER. They would NEVER DO THIS AGAIN. EA is under the impression that you are addicted and cannot live without their games. Pretty much, same idea happened with an older Assassin's Creed title and didn't accomplish much. If they want that week to scare bioware. They will have to run what little positivity the game has into the ground. Review bomb, support bomb, everything under the sun to destroy what possible faith is left. Worked with plenty of mobile titles and anthem has division 2 as AAA competition now. They would be pressured to fix the loot or go under from not even a passerby touching it.

A lot of people are talking about how bad and empty Anthem is, but 95% of them will just come back without a care. Marketing, hype, and peer pressure is all it takes to make a game sell well, and EA knows that. Marketing and hype sold the game before launch. Peer pressure will keep it going for the next month or two before the next big game comes around and kills it for good. And I don't think a long-term boycott will do anything either. Not enough people care about quality of games nowadays to make a boycott do anything. At best, EA's stock will get a dent from it and they'll keep doing things the same way. The only way to hurt EA is through the image of its individual games, like what happened with Battlefield V and SWBF2. If you can break hype, then the game and its mtx won't sell well, and only then will EA start to learn its lesson.

I remember I wanted to pre-order the game so badly during their first unveiling E3 gameplay video. I was totally blown away to bits. But given the history of EA, I decided to hold off and tread cautiously by following the development, interviews, press conference, etc. what I noticed is how shady they were about this game and I just felt something was off, especially listening to Casey hudson talk about the game. Fortunately, I followed my hunch and when the reviews were out, I'm so mighty glad I didnt purchase the game. For those who did, perhaps it's not too late to seek refund. I've heard of cases where people successfully refunded Anthem. Good luck.

How Halo started, how Gears of war started, how Mass Effect started, and so on. A new IP is a chance to amaze and daze the audience but AAA companies seems to be failing at that. Fallout already had the daze since it’s a well known franchise but people should be more excited about a new IP compared to a known IP. The only motive for making a 'live service' is profit; game quality will always be secondary to profit. That's why Developers should focus their attention on making an actual game first then proceed to experiment and innovate a multiplayer. An interesting RPG with co-op is coming out this month called Outward by Nine Dots Studio. I'm looking forward to seeing how they pull it off (level-scaling, lobby, loot, etc). I'm also hopeful for Skyrim Together. (if Bethesda was smart they would hire these modders full-time. they're literally accomplishing what their current staff should have done instead of 76)

I just recently bought Star Wars Battlefront 2 for $6 with the belief that since the games been out for 1.5 years that it should have some good stuff to play. I was mistaken. I literally had to google "where are the good game modes in SWBF2?" They don't even have a conquest mode similar to the mode from the original Battlefront from 2005!! and so far every match just turns into a huge meat grinder because nearly half of each has a damn overpowered hero. This seems to be how EA/DICE are treating "games as a live service" so I guess I'll never get Battlefield 5.
