nicobarensis are actually more sugar ants than that they are carpenter ants :D Tho both Carpenter ant, sugar ant, and giant ant are the common names for "Camponotus" niconbarensis can actually be translated multiple ways, "of Nicobar" "Nicobar's sword" "nico bar sword", pretty interesting if you ask me Loved the video once again, keep up the good work!

WHAT. I joined at around 5k subs and in 6 months you have more than doubled, you are exploding. Amazing videos, it looks like the quality of your videos has also doubled. I also can't belive that suddenly, out of the blue, you have got a Myrmecia and some trapjaws. The trapjaw colony is huge. Amazing work, someday you will be like lights camera ants or even ants Canada, as long as you don't quit.

Although we are not keeping the same species, mine did end up chewing their nest from inside out. If I recall, it took them like 1 year or so to do it. But I am interested to know how or what urs will do 😁 cheers

Do they need the red cover sheet or are these ants ok with being exposed to daylight (and other light) like this all the time ? Or have you removed protection just for the video ?

Very cool that you can keep nicos in a wooden nest. How much water do they drink and disperse inside the nest? How about the heating? Did you put a heat cable behind the nest or is your room set to a temperature? (They do well even in 22-24 °C) Also, did you measure the majors yet? If not, try to measure the big ones, I'm interested in the length they can grow up to. Then I'll update my Species Profile for them 👍
@AntHolleufer Жыл бұрын
They have two anty matters liquid feeders in the outworld. The room is 24 degrees but I’ve also put a heat cable going back and forward on the pack side of the nest for extra heat 😄

@@AntHolleufer Assuming 1 ant per cm^2 (which is a realistic number considering they are campouts and there isn't a very high density of chambers in the nest), and I think you have like 1 or 2 dm^2 of nest in use, there are definitely no more than 2,000 ants in the nest. I would say between 1000 and 1500 workers is a fairly realistic approximation
