For me it was 3 things to get rid of tiredness: Salt, Salt, and Salt! Stops cravings, headaches, migraines. 2-3 Teespoons per day in water with a few drops of Lugols. Oxalate dumping for just about 2 years didn't help either. PLANTS ARE TRYING TO KILL US!

If someone is coming to carnivore from a typical SAD diet, their body will need weeks or maybe a couple months to become an efficient fat burning machine. Until then your energy will be lower than normal.

This is why I had been confused about the advice from some folks in the keto/carnivore world saying to eat breakfast every day. I am eating OMAD and have been for several months, since day 30 or so of my carnivore journey (7 months and counting), and I perform best when that meal is in the evening because I get tired and am ready to hibernate within a couple of hours of eating a great big steak or burger. It's amazing what a diverse species we are and how our bodies responds like a well-oiled machine to lots of different eating patterns when we are eating a species-appropriate diet.
@Terri_2.0
@Terri_2.0 2 жыл бұрын
I did OMAD for a few years and felt fine, but recently have started eating three smaller meals per day. It seems that even though people like me who have no gallbladder can handle the fat quite well in a carnivore diet, we process it better if we space our meals and give our natural bile a chance to build up again. It´s apparently better to eat no more than 30-40 g protein in one sitting for some of us, as well. But as you say, we all feel best on slightly varying patterns.

I went through something very similar this past July - September. Numbness from the waist down and loss of balance. It was rapidly getting worse each week. MRI of my spine showed 2 cloudy masses on my spinal cord. My neurologist ordered a spinal tap and all tests were negative including the test for cancer. At the time I was getting semaglutide injections to help with weight loss. When I stopped the injections my feeling returned within 10 days. Now I’m using carnivore to lose weight and feeling so much better.

I would say, make sure it isn't lack of sleep, or lack of electrolytes, of lack of hydration (dehydration) and adding some more fat into my daily diet... Those four were my issues and causing me to be tired or not enough energy. I live in a dry desert state where I have to always carry a bottle of water with me every hour. You can tell how hydrated you are by the how light the color of your urine is. You want to aim for clear light yellow (clear urine is fine too). If your urine is yellow or dark yellow you need to hydrate more.

Hi Anthony! I love the info you provide about carnivore diet. I did Keto for many years and 8 months ago I decided to take it all the way to Ketovore (avocado, berries sometimes) and recently I started seeing lipid deposits in my eyelids (Xanthelasma). I went to the doctor knowing what it is but searching for a non surgical way to remove them (or surgical if no choice) and one of the comments he made was "You should stop Ketovore because you might be accumulating fat in other parts of your body like heart, arteries". I am only taking metformin and I still have mornings were my blood sugar is above 120. Am I eating too much fat? is ketovore and/or carnivore not for me? I would appreciate the input since I don't have local doctors that are willing to support my lifestyle. The last 2 doctors fired me as their patient 😂 Thank you again for the content!

Longterm carnivore tiredness is the real issue. It's the longterm energy issues that are the reason for the movement towards honey and fruit, with an anthropological justification based on speculative ideas that don't fit the facts. Lion dieters don't have these issues. The problem is likely to be something to do with fish, eggs or dairy.

Tap water is full of deuterium, not a good thing, and definitely could contribute to low energy. But as or more important is insufficient taurine in the diet. That is what regulates fluids and minerals. If one's electrolytes are off, one will often feel tired. Harry Serpanos explains all of this.

I am 55 and have been doing Carnivore for two months. I did not experience any real fatigue issue, in point of fact I have more energy now than on my old diet plan. I do heavy resistance exercise three days a week, and walk (briskly) for a minimum of 2 miles a day including weekends, so I do have energy needs. I will take exogenous electrolytes sometimes...I don't feel a difference in energy levels when I do take them though. My fat to protein ration is 70/30 which I get solely through the meat I consume (I don't add extra fat including butter, outside of the cooking process)...my average caloric intake is 1950 cals, I'm 6'1" and currently 213 pounds with the desire to get down to 195. I do track my intake, just to make sure I'm not skimping on the fat, and to maintain a good protein intake.

I ve been doing lowish fat keto/carnivor for several years , beleiving that I can use fat off my body. Recently, I ve started doing high fat ( 80%), smaller meals, rather than OMAD or TWOMAD as I used to do. Only several days, but I already see the differences in my energy, especially after meals. My theory is smaller meals that are moderate in protein but high in fat help to minimise the insulin response, such that you don't suffer from symptoms of the reactive hypoglycemia after meals, you won't feel tired or sleepy as in the case of eating a very high protein meal.

The low energy and crave for carbs could be because you haven't not yet fat adapted, so high fat meals would definitely help with. Dont do it. It will do the opposite. Your body tells you when it's thirsty. And if it's going away after 5 minutes it doesn't even count. Your body can save water and minerals. You get plenty from fat in carni diet. It's bullshit to drink water in liters daily. Total bullshit. Healthy person doesn't need it. It's opposite deuterium from water and carbs also veggies with starch accumulates in mitochondria and decouples it. So you then feel like after breaking fast with carbs LOL and you know what pain it brings. Deciupled mitochondria just burn calories into heat without giving normal level of energy. Many people turn to alternative diets like carnivore because of metabolic and digestive issues. They are often not processing food properly and so may have compromised energy production and usage. It can take a long while to reverse a lifetime of damage and dysfunction. Some people might need to supplement digestive aids, taurine, etc to regain metabolic and digestive health. But ideally, that is only temporary.

@bhouser1
@bhouser1 2 жыл бұрын
I experienced the same thing at first, and I think I know why (plus I have a solution). TL;DR: if you _can_ sleep that long, do it! Plan more time for sleep. After a few weeks your sleep need will drop again, and you'll be in better shape than ever. Basically: with a drastic increase in nutritional quality, your body is _able_ to gain much more benefit from sleep for the first few weeks. On your previous crappy diet, more sleep was not possible, because there were no resources to use toward increasing the integrity of your body tissue. Bodybuilders know that when they're in a calorie surplus, they need more sleep (10hrs a day or more). When you cut, you need less sleep. With carnivore you're going to go through some body recomposition that I think is similar to what Bodybuilders experience. Increased protein synthesis is happening as your body utilizes the high quality carnivore nutrition. Your need for sleep goes up, but you're getting amazing benefits to your health. Once your body reaches a new equilibrium based on your carnivore diet, your sleep will go back to normal. One exception: if you're too lean (say, < 12% body fat for a male), you're going to be low energy. I fix this by eating scrambled eggs with lots of butter mixed in, if you eat 12 of them plus butter you can get over 1000 calories pretty easily.

@@bhouser1Yes, I think it's possibly recomposition for me. I already knew this from my water fasting days, where the old golden rule was to rest a great deal to allow efficient autophagy. Nowadays is considered clever to workout in a fasting state. Really not sure that's wisest in the long run. But, yes, I'm a month into sudden carnivoren with no prep, as health issues couldn't wait, and I couldn't sleep much for the first week, but now I'm sleeping longer and deeper. And still getting very tired, in between bouts of suddenly springing about the place! I'm going the resting route for now, and I'll watch for it to improve to where I'm needing less rest/sleep. Eating a big (Carnivore) breakfast is actually the best time to eat according to our Circadian Rhythm. The absolute worst time to eat is anytime after 2pm because it interferes with the nightly cleansing cycle because you're still digesting the late meal. Likewise, it causes sleep issues for many. Eating with your bodies natural cycle reverses these issues and also lowers morning fasting glucose numbers. Here's how to follow the bodies Circadian Rhythm... Eat "break"fast between 7 and 9am (the Stomach Meridian)...the best time to eat a large meal and easily digest it, which means you will not feel heavy afterwards like you will if eaten at dinner. Your second meal (last meal) should be between Noon and 2pm (the Small Intestine Meridian). Fast from 2pm to 7am. Repeat. Do not snack between meals. Give yourself 1 week to fully adjust and reap the rewards.

You can be depleting your iron levels if you're eating your eggs and diary within 2 hours of eating your meat. I learnt that the hard way. Eggs, whilst good in iron are major iron absorbers(the yolk I believe) and diary does the same. Check the base of your eyes for iron blood levels. I'm not a doctor, but this happened to me. I made sure to eat my meat on its own and eggs on its own and really cut down the cheese and dairy in general. Now goat milk incredibly makes iron bioavailable. When iron is down you get major fatigue. Anyways, just my thoughts 😊. Oh and I also figured out that eating clean like we, then our minerals get low... Like sodium and iodine. I found that once I got my potassium, sodium and iodine right I felt far more settled. Hey, I'm working my way through this myself. Lol

The 2 to 1 ratio is not grams of fat to grams of protein but calories from fat to calories from protein. At least that's my understanding. So if you weigh 150lbs you would eat 150g of protein (600 cal) and 1200 cal from fat, ie 133g. That is probably about right if you are fairly sedentary. If you are more active, just up the fat.

Something is off about your fat recommendation. I eat quite a bit of fat, but what you recommended in the video (ground beef that's marbled half-fat) is mathematically incorrect if you want 50% fat calories. First of all protein is 4 calories / gram, fat is 9 calories / gram. So if they're mixed in equal quantities in the ground beef, you're going to have way more than 50% fat calories. Second: the lean component of ground-beef contains more water than the fatty component, so if it is marbled 50/50 then the percentage of calories from protein will be even lower compared to fat. Probably ground-beef that is 50% marbled has less than 20% to 25% calories from protein, which is extremely low.

Okay the carnivore diet seems incredible but how do you account for the lack of boron? You need that to unbind test from SHBG and meat doesn't contain nearly enough boron.

I am mostly carnivore but eat avocado often. It is a great source of fat which I need now that I am at my ideal body weight.
