Hi Judy. This is one of your best and most informative interviews so far. I am really excited what is going to happen and to what is this going to come out to. Saladino now pro fructose, showing the research, you against fructose showing the research. Liver, no liver, information flying all over the place... when Dr. Anthony said that there is a specific plant that needs a specific bird to be able to germinate its seeds, that was really a shock. This coevolution. I was for 2 years and 4 months on a Keto/Carnivore and then I went off to experiment with carbs because I didnt feel that good. I started to be very sensitive to light and sounds, I was constipated and I had to use coffee every 3 days to get a bowel movement and no amount of fat would fix this and somehow it felt very off during the bowel movement. And now experimenting with carbs 4 months in, in the beginning it was good but I am starting to feel not so good. Tried the fruits out as saladino suggests and now trying out white rice. It gives me some strange heart hickups, a bit of pain in the liver and it feels like my gut is getting hurt. I will be returning to Keto and try to do full carnivore... I really want that this Carnivore diet works good but I dont know what to do anymore. It would be so good if it would work fully good. Thank you and keep up the good work. ps. You definitely need to have a discussion with dr. Saladino. That would be a bomb.

I thought I was eating enough fat by adding 25-50 grams of butter and still didn't feel great. I had to lower my protein to around 30grams each meal and had between 3 and 4 meals a day - so roughly 100-150 grams of protein and I started to feel better. But seeing the amount of fat I had to eat in a day was the big shocker. I wasn't coming close to it! So I had to count my macros for a few days so I could see what I needed and didn't just guess it. Or... cheese can give me really bad constipation. Maybe you are eating too much? I love cheese but I limit myself to a few slices a week (20grams of Cheese?) But if you are really sensitive to Cheese then maybe you will have to give it up all together.

I'm 45. The only way I feel good is when I'm carnivore or if I am ketovore on very, very, very low amounts of some low carb veg. I put on muscle very easy, I stopped having migraines, I don't have joint pain, I don't crave much of anything, I sleep well, my PCOS is GONE and I am no longer insulin resistant. I've been off and on carnivore/ketovore for 4 years now. Currently I'm technically ketovore (I eat pickles, onions and blueberries in very small quantities), but I cycle between carnivore and ketovore. This WOE is the way. Everyone should do this.

Sickness, weakness, and stress have become normalized in our society. So has injury, joint pain, back problems, and premature aging. It doesn't occur to most people that this should be considered unusual. That is because few people in the modern world have ever lived in a healthy society in following a healthy diet and lifestyle. The few remaining examples of healthy societies (e.g., hunter-gatherer tribes) are not a part of our everyday experience, particularly in the West.

I’ve been scared of trying carnivore again but I now realise I wasn’t eating enough fat, even though I was eating what seemed like a lot of fat on the keto diet. I have gained a little bit of weight in the past 6 months because I broke my routine and also have been eating too many nuts, mostly almonds. Today I started the carnivore regime thanks to your other video that guided me on what the ‘macros’ should be for my ideal weight. Kind regards from Tasmania, Australia ❤

The more I dove into it and started following Dr. Saladino the more I thought wow this is great I can have fruit too! I love fruit, except I noticed when I’m strict carnivore I’m very emotionally stable no anxiety nervousness depression or cravings. Once I eat fruit, honey, or even a sugar-free cough drop the cravings start and it’s almost like the trigger gets flipped in my head and I’m just down that rabbit hole. I haven’t been doing this long term yet but I feel my best strict carnivore and I’m gonna ride it out until I see if this is the diet for me. I must say it resonates with me on such a deep profound level it must be truth.

Anyone with hypoglycemia will find what Dr. Chaffee is saying about metabolism to be very intuitive. I've always needed to snack every few hours to not feel awful. If I wasn't eating enough, or ate foods with a high glycemic index, I'd wake up at 3AM feeling nauseous, in a cold sweat, and convulsing for 30min until I ate some sugar to calm it. Eventually I got severe Crohn's/UC around 23 y/o. I went carnivore 3 years ago and got off of medications, came out of a flare with the diet alone, and my energy hasn't felt this stable in my whole life. I feel like a normal human for the first time. @ 23:40 also yep, I was skinny and muscular, working out every day when I got Crohn's. I’ve been physically training since I began amateur boxing in 1974. My initial concern was regarding endurance. I participate in ultra endurance events. Only 2 months into carnivore and I’m surprised that I have even more energy than I did when eating between 150-250 grams of carbs per day. Concerning coffee, I’ve not had any of the issues Dr. Anthony mentioned in this interview. No crashes, and certainly no muscle soreness. I recently rucked 71 miles and ran 29 in a month’s training for an event. Training also regularly involves 1,000 + rep sessions; again, no muscle soreness to speak of. Thanks for the podcast!

To all of you who are in concern fruit or not fruit and other plants is, try it for yourself. It sounds simple but it's not easy. Why? To try it for yourself means, 1st you should reset your human taste leaving all plant matter for a while. And after some time test one plant at a time. I did this when I was 19 years old, but leaving processed food first and went strict keto. After 2 years later my sense completely changed and I WAS ABLE TO GET INTO MY OWN HUMAN TASTE-SENSE-INTUITION. And I rely it on to this day, in my 34. It's only happened 2 times since going carnivore and I assume that's my blood sugar adjusting and probably insulin resistance being healed hopefully.

I've noticed in the short term that I've been trying carnivore(ish), that a fair number of people seem to develop histamine issues. I've noticed an uptick in histamine issues. A doctor I worked with for a while said that a high sulfur diet from animal foods (eggs, dairy, meats) slows down the liver's detox abilities (specifically aldehyde dehydrogenase) and histamine builds up as a result. I'd love to see a video on this. Another video I watched of a guy who had to give up carnivore after 8 years was fairly compelling to me. He still eats meat but has balanced it out with other foods. Dr. Paul Saladino now advocates some fruit after his own experience and that's mine too, I need some to feel good. I get the impression that strict carnivore's success is a person to person thing, some can do it, others it doesn't work for.

Dr.geogia talks about this... it's less the sulfur detox pathways and more the specific type of meat...

It can be an indication of gut healing that's needed. Sometimes our body is so muddied up with other noise that we don't have the histamine response. This will be really individualized so I'd take it on a case by case basis. A lot of my histamine-sensitive clients have mold or gut issues. I do think we all have to figure out what makes us feel best in the long-term. 💗

@@NutritionwithJudy Thanks, I've also wondered if it has to do with oxalate issues being unmasked. It seems oxalate dumping can trigger histamine issues with people.

Carnivore in the short term 30 - 90 days works great to heal your gut biome and leaky gut complications. The emphasis is obtaining fresh and clean cuts and avoidance of cured and highly processed sources. This is very limiting as long run solution to those w/ a histamine intolerance. I am searching for ketovore diet, w/ heavy emphasis on histamine handling and avoidance of cured and highly processed meat, and plant-base food w/ emphasis on amines, histamine, glutamates, oxalate, salicylates, sulfites, thiols (sulfur intolerance) and nightshades. Right now its trial and error for me when reintroducing plant food. It would be great to have a guide, quick tips to food pairing that can help alleviate reactions.

I think resetting your system and breaking addictions caused by the SAD diet and then when the body is sensitive again, make your body the ultimate experiment. Introduce things in you think are fine and pay attention. Tailor your diet according to you. I am easily addicted so I do better with a stricter diet that doesn't cause me to go on a carb bender which leaves me anxious and depressed. That may be different for others though I think it happens a larger amount of us then people think. Loved this interview. ❤

I love your comment. I’m also easily addicted. I can EASILY avoid SAD diet processed foods and sugar, my problem is FAGE yogurt and Stevia. I’ve been “Ketovore” for two years (All meat plus stevia, coffee, spices and dairy) my main problem is Stevia. I add it to my yogurt and coffee w/ HWC…then I overeat the yogurt and over drink the coffee thru the day. If I can just give up stevia, I won’t want plain yogurt or black coffee. I feel like I’ve already given up so much that I’m holding on to that “last little bit” that is actually making me feel crappy. I will easily over eat vegetables too, I have always loved them but they make me break out and bloat. Sorry for the long reply but sometimes I see relatable comments and I end up venting lol. You left some great advice here so thank you.

@@jensss. - I've had similar problems. Instead of trying to get rid of the stevia at first, get rid of the coffee and yogurt. Allow yourself that last bit of sweet taste while transitioning. Drink herbal teas or lemon water for a while and add stevia to that. Once you've gotten over your desire for coffee and yogurt, then maybe eliminate that remaining craving of stevia. By the way, when I gave up all sweeteners, including stevia for a time, I found that even yogurt and kefir tasted somewhat sweet. The taste buds and brain adapt.

The ability to get almost any food in excess today certainly clouds the results, even things like organs that we consider good for us. It is amazing that we know the human body tries to operate as efficiently as possible in every process that occurs, yet we wonder why those processes are screwed up when we eat larger amounts of anything we can get now that we would not have been able to before.

These perspectives are not difficult to find once you just let go and let meat do its job. The Plant Free MD (has a nice jingle) mentioned renaissance influencers. Here's another one I came across recently: Michel Eugène Chevreul. This guy gave fatty acids their name, influenced neo-impressionist painting by developing laws of color theory as connected to lipids research, and lived to 102. A devout anti-spiritualist. Rooted in reason & logic. Obviously, a carnivore...

The Great Fruit Debate. Dr. Saladino opened a can of worms in the carnivore community when he went off claiming fruit fixed his hormone and electrolyte issues he was having on carnivore. He's still N=1, while there are carnivore veterans that haven't had any of those issues being carnivore longterm. Hadn't thought about the overconsumption of liver possibly causing thyroid issues.

I'm totally on board with Chaffee's comments right at the end. He emphasizes the importance of looking at all sides and all evidence in greater detail. Even among the more well informed, I've noticed how easily people get stuck in a position and then are unable to acknowledge anything that challenges or questions it. Paul Saladino seems to have fallen into that problem in terms of fruit and sugar. He could quickly discover that the honey season for the Hadza only last a few months of the years. Fruit also is mostly found in a particular season. These aren't staples of the year-long diet. Saladino now has become committed to his opinion. Not only his identity but his credibility is now on the line.

[1:35:42] Meat-based diet can be done long-term --------------------------------- Detailed Summary: [00:00]Dr. Anthony Chafee discusses his experience with the meat-only diet and the benefits of a carnivore diet - Dr. Chafee first discovered the benefits of a meat-only diet while studying cancer biology in university and realizing the high levels of naturally occurring poisons in vegetables - He then exclusively ate eggs, meat, and milk for 5 years while playing professional rugby and felt amazing - Years later, he came across evidence that humans are carnivores and started eating a meat-only diet again, experiencing great health [05:15]Eliminate carbohydrates and sugar for better health - Fructose is metabolized and broken down in the same way as alcohol, leading to health issues - Carbohydrates fundamentally change your biochemistry and metabolism - Fasting or a carnivore diet can provide health benefits - Insulin forces energy into cells and blocks access to fat cells, leading to a reliance on carbohydrates - Carbohydrates also block the hormone leptin, which tells your brain when you're full [14:29]Carbohydrates, particularly fructose, are harmful to health. - Studies suggest that people who consume only meat in their traditional setting are healthier. - Honey contains fructose and falls under the sugar category, which should be avoided. - Fruit may seem benign, but many fruits and berries in the world are poisonous. - Fructose gives a quick hit of energy but is not a good long-term idea for metabolic health. [19:02]Fructose is one of the worst drugs on earth - Fructose is addictive and kills areas of your brain like methamphetamine - It damages your body causing cirrhosis, diabetes, heart disease, and more - Food companies put fructose in everything and people should be careful with their intake [28:09]Fructose is not necessary for optimal health and can cause onset diabetes and fatty liver disease. - Fructose has been shown to cause onset diabetes and fatty liver disease. - There are no biochemical processes that require fructose. - Foods with glucose or table sugar still break down to half fructose. - Low-carb diets do not ruin thyroid function. [33:03] Carnivore diet can lead to better health and thyroid recovery - Long-term carnivores have better health and thyroid recovery - Proportions of nose-to-tail eating should be considered to avoid health problems [42:04]Fructose is harmful and unnecessary for consumption. - Honey may have some benefits, but it also contains harmful fructose. - Studies should be examined closely, and not just based on headlines. - Official recommendations for diabetics were once to consume fructose. - Glycemic index was once thought to be the best model for controlling diabetes. - Fructose was likely the cause of diabetes for many people. [47:00] Fructose causes peripheral insulin resistance and blocks leptin, leading to overeating - Studies that focus on small, specific details can be misleading, and we should not ignore the broad picture - Claims that a meat-only diet reduces testosterone levels have not been supported by evidence [56:07] Humans have been biologically carnivores for millions of years. - Human ancestors were able to survive as hyper carnivores during the ice ages. - Stable isotope studies show that our ancestors had a higher carnivore rating than other carnivores. - A meat-only diet can be sustained long-term. - Individuals not feeling good on a meat diet may not be eating enough fat. [1:00:42] Get rid of all harmful things and stick to pure carnivore diet for optimal health. - Eating more fat is necessary for optimal health. - Artificial sweeteners can cause an insulin response and increase insulin, leading to low energy. [1:09:21] Fat is the most important part of a carnivore diet - Animals generally get 70-80% of their calories from fat in the wild - Inuit and aboriginal Australians had high-fat diets and were healthy - Eating a high-fat carnivore diet can reverse heart disease, diabetes, and obesity [1:13:41]70-80% calories should come from fat as it drives animal kingdom but it's difficult to overeat fat as most of it goes out in waste - Body absorbs fat with bile which is a finite resource, so you can trust your body to absorb the right amount of fat naturally - Stool consistency can be used to gauge fat intake. Loose stools mean too much fat intake, hard stools mean not enough fat intake - Some gut healing may be needed in the beginning for those who have been on low-fat diets before transitioning to high-fat diets [1:22:42] Don't trust everything doctors say without doing your own research - Eating fat has always been important for human survival - Triglyceride levels may go up due to eating off plan, excess calories, or alcohol - Listen to different viewpoints and do your own research before making decisions about your diet [1:27:15]To gain knowledge, listen to as many opposing views as possible and fill gaps in knowledge. - Research opposing views and see if their arguments hold water. - Look at studies and evidence that may not have been previously considered. [1:35:42]Meat-based diet can be done long-term - Omnivores and animals only eat certain plants that are species appropriate - Individualized diet is important and there is no right answer for everyone

Once again, EVERYTHING we consume has [at least] some level of toxins - from beef to bananas to brussel sprouts. So Judy- I am one of those who sleep better and feel better by bringing in a little carbs I am 18 months into carnivore- low ox diet- Sally k Norton explains it as that our liver has been so damaged by years of oxylate consumption and over eating carbs that we dont do gluconeogenesis very well, so we need a little, and we have to eat some oxylate to slow dumping. Depending on the person, this could be reversible or not- but definitely I feel better with a little carb and oxylate- one thing saladino says is that fructose in it's natural state is used differently by the body than refined fructose or HFCS-

I feel great and my blood tests were back to normal the more I take plant-based Foods out of my diet and the more meat I eat the better I feel and the better my blood test are. And not eating vegetarian I don't have to support the destructive agricultural grain and vegetable farming practices that depletes the soil poison it with fertilizers and pesticides. Grazing cattle on pastures produces some of the richest soil available, that's what I learned growing up on a large farm. I got my college degree in natural resources and then in nutritional healing the two work together pretty well in knowing what foods are good for human health. And its not plant-based !

I found this talk to be very interesting I also watch Dr Paul Saladino but I find him a bit too extreme eating spleen and bulls testicle among other things. I am a 69 year old who had type 2 diabetes and was on 80 mg of insulin twice a day now because I've changed my diet to a low carb high fat I'm off all meds lost a ton of weight. I'm thinking of going full carnivore but I've still got a sweet tooth which I'm struggling with and I must eat more animal fat. My doctor will not support me in this she wanted me to take more insulin plus take a statin, so I'm on my own trying to heal myself, I live in the UK.

Dr David Unwin is a GP in the UK. His clinic gets people in diabetes remission on a regular basis using low carb diets. I'm sure they can be a partner in your medical care or refer you to a low carb GP in your area. We need real food not pharmaceuticals. Well done on improving your health!

Have you ever tried browned butter? It's helped me get over that sweet tooth

Congrats on your progress! Hope you can find a doctor who will help you and work with you. Bart Kay did "priming" earlier this year, which I think is meant to deal with/stop cravings.

I've tried strict carnivore multiple times, but usually only during winter. It does make me feel better when I do so. I keep coming back to thinking that maybe strict carnivore works best. It's easy to let myself slip in adding plant foods, as I share meals with omnivores, if relatively healthier omnivores.

If you have diabetes, or some other health issue, would you recommend they transition slowly into this new diet so they don't risk their immediate health by shocking their body with a pure carnivore diet? Have you seen any negative effect cases from health compromised people who shifted too fast? Even if it's good in the long run, would the rapid change in glucose levels, blood pressure etc.. be risky?

It will be a lot easier on the body to transition over a few months. Take out all vegetable/seed oils as a very good beginning. Also of course all junk food can go straight away. Increase your meat and meat fat intake and gradually decrease grains, fruit and vegetable intake.

@@cassandrabond2315good advice, oils that oxidize are what's causing heart issues. ❤

I've tried both slow and rapid change. I got very ill going rapid, had to stop after 4 1/2 weeks of constant diarrhea, dry mouth and skin, bad sleep, no energy, feeling bad. The slow method I did years ago and felt great, I remember I dropped the carbs by about 20 grams per week. I would do what works the best, some people might go crashing in with minor side-effects, others need to go in gradually.

Bart Kay has videos on the subject, he also does consultations. He does advise people that if they've been eating lots of carbs regularly, to reduce them slowly. Because it is a change and the body will react. He experienced it himself. He would probably also tell you to work with your doctor if you're taking prescription drugs for anything. If your current doctor isn't willing to help you, you should find a doctor who is. That's the doctor's job, not to be a dictator who won't listen to you.

I went paleo, keto, ketovore then carnivore and had very little transition symptoms. If you go from SAD to carnivore overnight yeah you probably going to have detoxing, withdrawal, gut bacteria die off leading to uncomfortable gi issues etc. So I'm all for gradual transition in order to make it easier
