In 2013 the unthinkable happened: a pope resigned, and another became head of the Vatican. For the first time in six centuries, the Catholic Church had two popes. The new film "The Two Popes" imagines what conversations between the 85-year-old Pope Benedict XVI (played by Sir Anthony Hopkins) and Pope Francis (played by Jonathan Pryce) would have sounded like - and since both pontiffs disagreed on most everything, not all of that conversation is polite. Correspondent Tracy Smith talked with Hopkins and Pryce about their star-making movies, faith, and friendship.

Just finished watching it and its a marvelous piece of cinema. Much of it is just the two of them having a conversation but you are absolutely captivated every second of it. Its not preachy at all (if you're worried about that). For non-Catholics its a behind-the-scenes look. For Catholics, its something special. Plus, its quite funny.

Except for the minor inconvenience of none of it being true. It completely maligns Pope Benedict as being some out of touch vestige of the past with no sense of his own spirituality, only until he is "rescued" by the enlightened Bergoglio. If anyone had any sense of the reality of these two men, it becomes clear pretty quickly that this is laughably stupid. Pope Benedict is one of the most profound thinkers in all of Christianity. His tremendous body of written work and his long academic and doctrinal career attest to this. His future sainthood is all but guaranteed, and I would speculate that he will someday be named a Doctor of the Church. I can't say the same for Pope Francis who has seemingly endless string of personal gaffes and vindictive behavior. Two days ago he publicly slapped a woman. This movie was foolish and nothing more than leftist propaganda meant to promote the "progressive" Pope Francis and to embolden heterodox ideas within the Church.

Even Pope himself would suffer a religious crisis, and be saved from that. This is my takeaway point from the master-piece movie.

What's with the questions. Did the interviewer even prepare? Her questions were too simplistic and got too personal. Not enough smart questions about the movie.

The youngest Pope in history was Pope Benedict IX who was 11 years old at the time of election. He is also the only person to have been the Pope more than once.

I watched this on Netflix a few days ago thinking it wasn't going to be anything that great or have some sort of political under tone in relation to our society today but WOW was I mistaken this has to be the best and most well written movie of 2019 I ever saw. I couldn't step away, Hopkins is a master of the screen and loved this movie beyond what I thought I would. A must see

It should not be a surprise, but it is hard to get over how great of an actor Anthony Hopkins is. I enjoyed every line he said. It all felt so "real worldly" and even familiar. It was caviar.

I liked the movie but not so much as many people does... The Bergoglio past did`nt seem to me naturally inserted... the scene in the Sistine Chapel seemed to contradict some of the early Hopkins parlaments .... at the end, the soccer scenes seemed too complacent and cheap... in general it was very interesting , specially the first parts in Castengandolfo... I enjoyed very much the argument about relativism versus eternal truth....the argument about the pedophile priests was kind of sad and non conclusive... interesting too how the movie presents Benedict as out of touch... in his intelectual ivory tower... a victim of his inclosed education and life... while the other was exposed to all walks of life... I think that the movie was good but got short of its promise at the end.. the worst was the Sistine Chapel scene... too closed... too theatrical instead of cinematic...the dialogue less interesting...
