Horowitz sounds like he could play James Bond villain

So in other words... Horowitz just missed the money that these books brought in. But to be serious, Never Say Die was actually a pretty good book. Not the best in the Alex Rider series, but it did set up for more interesting stories down the road and the mission felt personal. My only negative is that it does take away from the ending to Scorpia Rising by bringing back Jack Starbright. So maybe the series still has something offer. Will be looking forward to Nightshade!

That's the one problem I had with it but I agree. I think Jack should have died at Razim's hand and it be more about Alex letting her go. It felt too much like Alex returning to safety

I was so sad when the series ended and I never knew there was a new one written. Last week I randomly decided to google the series and I saw there was a new one. Best news ever. I bought the book the same day and finished it the next. Can't wait for more!

I JUST found this out! I was listening to my audiobooks of Alex again (I never have time for reading-actually, I do now that COVID happened, but I don't own the books, but I do own the audios) and decided to google reviews of it. I was shocked to see more books! I will see if I can get the audios

Personally, I’m excited to read this! Personal favorites are probably Scorpia, Skeleton Key, and Scorpia Rising! Though Eagle Strike was really good too! I’m gonna read this once I finish Russian Roulette.

I WAS SOOOO HAPPY! It was such a good read, but it wasn't my favorite. I found Crocodile Tears or Skeleton Key the best reads, though I really did like Never Say Die!

Isn’t it book 11? The one about Yassen was more of a prequel/spin-off so it doesn’t really count as a main Alex Rider book.

I’m very mixed about this. Killing off Jack added some great develop for Alex and now that she is alive it takes away from that. Plus it raises some questions like why the bad guys would want her to baby-sit some kidnapped rich kids (plus wasn’t this plot sorta done in the 2nd book?)? Why would the villain of the last novel allow for some low level bad guys to take her when he already had plans for her? Why hadn’t any law enforcement seen the name she had written under her cell bed? Who was the person that died in the exploding car and why didn’t anyone run DNA tests on the bones to confirm it was her? Or analyze the footage shown to Alex? See what I mean? It raises way too many questions and it also makes Scorpia Rising less impactful since it’s events and status as the last novel no longer hold any weight. Plus, bringing back Jack and bringing Alex back to London puts everything back to the status quo when it’s moved beyond that. But I’m putting too much negative on the novel and the author. It was an engaging read and I love that it was a more personal story than another save the world story. I want to see the series explore something new and even take more risks to make things interesting. PS, sorry for the long comment. Got lost there.

@@tjjordan4207 i agree. The only explanation I could really think of is that Razim needed to feel like he outsmarted Alex. Like psych! I didnt really kill her, but you (Alex) dont know that. But this raises the question of why he didnt kill her after? Couldnt they get someone else to take care of the kids?
