I don't own a synth. I'm a bass player, but I simply CANNOT STOP WATCHING THESE VIDEOS! Anthony & Dr Mix are just an incredible wealth of music knowledge it's impossible to look away. Thank you both for the vast insight and enthusiasm you share these secrets with. Even as experts, you can tell these two are forever students, zero ego & thirsting for knowledge, that's how we should all strive to be!

First of all, Anthony is just a great interviewer - attentive and inquisitive. I loved Claudio’s childhood story because it’s similar to mine… except I ended up not doing music as a career, but I could have… I also had people who recognized my talents and made some money while in high school programming synths.

The start of the interview reminds me of when I started, and people asked if I was tone deaf. My ears needed training, also because I had back then no idea about scales. After a month of six, while refusing to give up, something went pop in my head, and I started to hear if I was in tune or not. :)

One of my favourite things about The Doctor is that he inspires aspiration to improve as a musician. Anyone with a few hundred or a few thousand dollars can buy the same synthesizer that he showcases in his videos, but to make it sound good and do it in style requires skill and discipline. Dr. Mix shows how synthesizers are not just toys that go Bing bong but actual instruments of sonic magic.

I’ll say this too: When Claudio talked about being happiest as a kid in his bedroom playing synths and simple multi-tracking with tape machines, that was my life as a teenager too. Ear training like that is time well-spent, when you can hear to a level of detail that goes over the heads of many others. To be able to listen to a complex song, and dissect out all its components, as though you have virtual mute buttons in your head, is magic! A great skill. And Dr Mix and I both have that skill. I better go buy some orange shirts and start making content! (my fave colour)😅 I need to be “Claudio exuberant’ too. He’s a rare gem this Italian man!

Anthony...your interviewing style is genuine and by keeping track of everything Dr. Mix said, you did a great job summarizing his journey multiple times during the course of the interview. You came across not only as a talented interviewer, but as someone who knows their stuff...and knows the business. Dr. Mix, of course, was very interesting and entertaining to listen to. It was long overdue getting to know more about him and seeing that he is talented, honest and humble. I thoroughly enjoy watching him on KZbin and I will be looking for more stuff from you as well! To both of you....GREAT JOB!

The media as a tool vs. the media as the business itself... Dr. Mix isn't alone in not having caught on the latter's opportunity in spite of having had it literally in his own hands: I have been connected to the Internet for more than thirty years and, as many information technology and networking geek, was totally blindsided by the media people who ate us alive. No regrets - surfed another wave !

Claudio is a very humble person. (With all respect to Anthony Marinelli) He doesn't need somebody at the level of 'Dr. Mix", like Anthony did to Dr.Mix 'pinging',.. to response personally right away when he can. I was amazed once, when he responsed to my comment in Facebook personally, and that was not a very important comment from me either actually, while I understand he is a very busy person. Great person.

It was because of Dr MIx that I started my own KZbin channel - at 59 :-) - Twice I joined his challenges and because of the great reactions I received, I decided to do it. 4 months later I have 2000 subs…which probably has to do with the fact that I own two of the Dr’s favorite synths: Jp8 and CS80. 😅I am grateful for his very positive reactions to my videos - that have jump started my carreer as a YT’er at my age. @anthony marinelli: you have done a great, great interview!

As a Dr. Mix fan I thought this was a great interview. What's also crazy is I recently started following your channel independent of Dr. Mix and it was a pleasant surprise to see Claudio on the channel a few videos back, so this interview coming out of nowhere was a delight. If you have this become a recurring series of interviews maybe Matt Johnson of Jamiroquai could be a future guest? He has a great YT channel as well and is a phenomenal synth player/pianist.

Look forward to it! TY for the awesome content & cya at 7pm UK Edit: Loved the interview. I don't own any analog hardware or vintage synths. I'm very new to music production and just work inside the box with software emulations which are at least getting me closer to the original sounds than perhaps I have any real right to get! I'm finding newfound respect though, for their real deal original counterparts that they're trying to emulate, and the history. Most of all though, I feel honored and even humbled to be sitting in a live chat in the presence of someone who has been so deeply part of that history and contributed so much towards MJ's stratospheric musical successes and beyond. So many fascinating insights that we otherwise might have never known. It also makes my sw synth emulations make so much more sense to me. And relatable with the MJ content. How far we've come that in 2023 that I can follow along at home with Anthony Marinelli techniques that take so many years of experience to acquire. 2 years ago I didn't have the gear to do that. And Arturia software has since introduced me to synths that I didn't even know existed. I don't take the sharing of experience that you have taken years to acquire for granted, I'm here for it and I thank you for the great content.

I'm here from the Claudio's audience (i'm italian like him btw) , and i know your "stellar level" channel tnx to him. Guys... seems like some interesting things can starts from your meeting (well... i mean in a professional and musical and/or social-media way 😆) . If that is correct... that could be one of the most wanderful and inspirational "clash" between two music professional and creativity worlds!!! At least... for all of us "wanna be" musical community! Yeah "wanna be" but... But keep in mind that there are millions of us!!! 😉 BTW... Your Channel is a "diamond mine" Sir! And btw "you don't have to be perfect" as a YT contents creator... 'couse you ARE perfect in every possible substantial way! Because, if a word from the audience can be interesting for you, the real secret ingredient of the Caudio's YT recipe is - in addition to all the "tips and tricks" about the look and the communicatio techniques with the internet audience - is that Caudio is really... really... REALLY (did I already say "really"?) a truly genuine kind of person!

Again, a very nice video. Very glad to discover Claudio more, thank you Antony. Strangely, Claudio and I had quite a similar beginning. I was in France, and I started with the same Bontempi organ, trying to reproduce the music I can hear on radio and TV. Then I also got a electronic Bontempi, around 10, the cheapest available, but at least 4-5 different sounds and a few rhythms. I wanted to study music, but the school in the small city I was living was too rigid: classical music only, no access to instruments, only theory and reading (yes, I also had the Hannon); I left after 2-3 years, very disappointed. The turning point that makes me getting interest on synths was Oxygene (JM Jarre) and Eye In The Sky by Alan Parsons Project. I sold the Bontempi for a Yamaha PS20, and I purchased my first synth a Yamaha CS01.. Later I worked during several summer to get enough money to purchase a DX7 (with the help of my parents). In 1985, this was THE synth everybody wanted to have. The small town I was living had a recording studio, and we recorded some ads for a local radio: I really loved it. I also got to program the VIC20 at school, and I started to study electronic to understand how synths work. But I was hooked by computers and decided to study and make my living with. Despite I played with multiple bands, and also recorded in studios (I now have my own), music is just a hobby.
