Ive been working a regular job for 7 years and im burnt out lmao , what they do seems fun , id love to be able to wake up and dedicate my time to doing the same shit but i gotta leave it till the last thing literally cause i gotta treat the thing i hate as a priority , so i think thats where that frustration comes from. Although i will say instead of being butthurt about it I urge anyone thats persuing the same thing to give just a LITTLE bit of time to your craft , being jealous and hating on others peoples success blows , we should all be working towards something 😤

5:15 i think its also important to note that when the animators first came onto youtube they encouraged their audiences to have patience and support the community, because as 1 staff teams (at first) they needed other animators to upload (and even vary their uploads) in order for audiences to have a video every week (and that was if you were watching 10+ youtubers, they'd only post 1 every 2 or 3 or 5 months). And that really helped mellow out the audiences in some way because the audiences became fans of everyone and grew into a much larger, more patient community.

Im getting so many mixed emotions right now. Seeing the people who made my childhood and insipired me to take art and animation in the same room after years feels so... nostalgic? Recently won a 2nd place medal for an art competition in school too so watching this while knowing these people are the reason i have a medal to call my own now is just, i really cant explain it. Reminder that animation used to be full studios of people where you have one person who does some backgrounds, several script writers, animators for only one or two characters, etc. even with having teams there is still an unfair amount of work being done by the KZbinrs and their teams due to expectations from us and also the current standards for online creators

Nah, when James said, “do you want us to suffer more?” I was like, finally someone said it. Like, I get that people feel like quality everywhere is going down or things aren’t the way things used to be, but people got to eat! Be glad that they actually LIKE doing this stuff and would still do it if they were doing something else. I wished they spent a bit more time on the “the team makes it feel more like a business and less personal.” I think that’s true. Videos take so much work to make, and having a team would make things so much easier, but then it kinda feels like… not what I subscribed for. And that might be more of a qualm with KZbin being a career and so produced now more than with animators specifically, but if I wanted to watch a fully produced cartoon, I could just watch Netflix. Idk, KZbin had (has?) a different feel than corporate shows because it’s just some guy or friends making the videos at home. Now, KZbin suggests a “starter equipment” kit for new creators that is like $5k. :/ It just feels so… soulless. If it was friends making videos together and creating a studio themselves, that is different than someone being hired on. It’s a little hard to explain, but I definitely feel the “it’s business now” on big channels.
