I knew this song 4 years ago, to be more specific in 2020 and that year was one of the worst, because many of my relatives died from covid and I felt depressed all the time, when I heard this song I cried a lot and more than everything at the end of the song and now that I listen to it again those memories come back to me. This song saved me from several suic*de attempts

Omg it’s Mafumafu !!! recognized for his high pitched voice that even girls have difficulty reaching, he’s very well known and respected male utaite (singers who sing covers of vocaloids but not only, on internet with covered faces like for example Ado) who is a pioneer in making utaites known both in Japan and globally. He doesn’t only do covers but also originales, he’s a producer and mixer for himself and many other singers, vtubers, animes etc… His songs are really a magical experience, I suggest listening to other of his songs like : “Jigsaw Puzzle”, “no trespassing”, “I don’t mind being unhappy” and the cover of “deathly loneliness attacks”. Ps he’s 32 years old and has a duo with another important utaite called Soraru “After The Rain”, “life hated us” is a cover from which i also got to know him become his fan. In his life he went through a lot( and man, i mean a damn lot) so many of his songs are pessimistic and touch very deep but he also has a positive and bubbly songs too.

Happy you like this kind of song, the lyrics are amazingly wroten. I would like to recommend an artist that writes deep lyrics like this, his name is Kenshi Yonezu and and even though he is quite famous in Japan i don't see reactions to his music that normaly. A song i would recommend from him with this kind of lyric is "uma to shika". Hope you like it if you come to listen to it.

There is an English version of this covered by Oktavia, which is entirely in English. Which has some lyrics swapped around to fit the flow but the message is the same. Easier to understand for English speakers.

I'm not going to assume if you do or don't have depression, but from my eyes depression is not so easy to solve. Neurotypical people always have bad advice for depression that basically amounts to 'stop being sad' as if that is all it is, as if it is that easy. Its one thing to tell someone to just live, its another to look and try and understand from a major depression perspective of if it ends up Worth it to live, if the good can outweigh the bad on a scale. Its one thing to try and live, its another when half the world is trying to kill you, or right wing extremist politicians want you in a gas chamber. What I'm trying to say is depression is in no one a simple issue, just as life being worth it or not is not a simple issue.

I feel thats what the song is kinda about tho Like it starts of basically going "I hate folks who say 'just live' like that" And then in the end after going through everything, the final line of the song is "Just live", prefaced with the lines of "as long as you want to live I'll be fine- Yes, this is what I actually wanted to sing about" Its like, it can be so hard to want to live, it can be impossible, but not everyone saying "just live" is saying it from a place of not understanding and all
