its really common for japanese indie musicians to create contrasts like that, if you listen more of these kind of music, you will se that there is a lot of powerful and dark lyrics, but with an uplifting and "positive" sound design

Ones of my favorites with that contrast is "I'm getting on the bus to the other world" by Tuyu and it's recent sequel song "If There Was An Endpoint"

There is also "I Think I Just Died" by Guiano. It has such a happy beat, but the lyrics tell such a different story.

It's funny to me that the music sounds "uplifting" to some people. To me, it starts like you're walking pensively and appearing okay to others but the sky has soft colors and it makes you want to cry a little. But it becomes more and more frenzied, like the spinning inside is coming out and the frustrations get screamed out, and it concludes more pensively than it began, like you realize that not everything you're thinking or feeling makes sense and you want to pick what is true, but it can be tiring, so you try to appear okay again. Most of the frustrations are released, and you're trying to simplify and sort out what you're holding onto

Overseas bro couldn't be more correct. I also hate it when they pause every 10 seconds to critique. Screws up the flow of the song and they tend to miss more than they caught.
I am not Japanese or anything, but I say this culture needs to be shared.

Thank you, Gaz. I'm glad you liked the experience! I do believe the contrast is the point of the song, the ending verses brought everything together. And that voice....oh, that raw emotion is just something else.

This song slapped me hard at the opening lyrics where sometimes i feel like it's nice if i die right now.. but forgot to think how the people around me would feel, and at the end where he scream and repeat "live, live, live!,live!!,just live!!!" Always bring me tears and i can't bring myself to sing that part.. i have never finished singing this song ever T_T

Mafumafu didn't write this song, however he does have quite a bit of music of his own with a similar tone. Hitomodokute is a good example of this. He's also done a lot of covers. This song, and other Japanese indie artists as well as Vocaloid producers often have dark lyrics with upbeat rythms and melodies.
