Unless????? This is just showing an even more extreme side of the narrative of the obsessive fan? The iPhone bit at the beginning makes sense for that. The "they keep asking me who is he" reminds me of how people around someone who's smiling at their phone assuming that it is a crush/bf/gf and they'll ask who is the person, but in this case it's an idol or idol group providing those smiles for this person. Giving more of that theory a bit more to think about. I'd say it left the ghost theory, but one of them was literally fading away/transparent like a ghost still.

Great break down, I have a slightly different twist on Hyein though. Hyein has some kind of syndrome where she believes shes the main character for all of the movies that was listed in the book she had. We see the a scene in which she is Vic Beretton from La Boum, Karen from The Little Match Girl, and the funniest reference for me was Hyein playing as Hugh Glass which is Leonardo Dicaprio's character from the Revenant which is why we saw the bear appear.

i just thought of a theory🤔 i think it’s about how idols sometimes get pigeonholed by fans, for example one idol says they like “x” food and fans make it their entire personality or how one idol does one thoughtful thing for another member and suddenly their whole identity becomes “the mom of the group” and how some idols let it get to their heads and start performing this ooc versions of themselves for fanservice’s sake. like we see haerin thinking she’s a cat because everyone calls her cat or heesoo saying on a video that hyein’s princess disease is getting too much (some idols legit get full of themselves sometimes) and her believing she’s a princess from a fairy tale here. basically ditto told fans to touch grass and omg tells idols to touch grass and not lose sight of who they really are just to play these roles for their fans

This song is about how we lose ourselves to fulfill people's expectations to us. People keep telling us this and that and we even start believing it as our real self. Explanation: 1. Hanni as Iphone means people expect her to be useful in so many things that she lost herself and became an iPhone that lots of people use and need. 2. Hyein, who is a model, people keep telling her that she's like a princess, so she grows Disney princess syndrome. The teddy bear got into her head and killed her in her world lol. 3. Danielle loves her job as an idol so much she always thinks that she lives in an MV/ another explanation is Danielle the only one who is still close to sanity. 4. Haerin, people keep telling her that she has cat features so she starts acting and imagining herself as a cat. 5. Minji, the brain of the group, people always expects her to be the one who is able to solve problems, so she starts thinking she's a doctor of the group, a person who "knows it all" although actually deep down she's actually childish (the scene where she was sent to the ambulance 3:54) This song mentions everyone, even the doctor himself finally became a patient too lol. And remember the first lyrics? "This song is about you, baby" means this song is meant to everyone who watches it.

I love that NJ concept so far is seemingly heading towards coming up with these super inventive ways to break the fourth wall and really address different parts of the idol industry. if ditto was addressing the parasocial relationships and people are theorizing that this is about essentially being pigeonholed into different concepts of your identity based on being a public figure and losing yourself from constantly being told who and what you are. it's got my head spinning but in a good way. Being backed up by good music makes it all the better.

it is plausible to suggest that this masterpiece right here displays how things can really be *internalized* & how most people are *desensitized* to it. i’d like to quote two of the comments i’ve read & also add my own commentary to it: • ““i’ll run whenever you call me~ i exist for you,” hanni’s line may be expressing siri, but it’s a very important line to express idols. she is expressed as a *patient* who sings for us, _tries_ for us, and then _eventually_ *loses* herself & thinks that she is an iphone (siri) who has to do _anything_ she’s being told to. an "iphone", basically a metaphor for being a person who has to run & be ‘on’ when the button (app) is pushed. • danielle, who is known to fans for always having bubbly personality, is always smiling & laughing [even] while [just] watching tv with _nothing_ on it (she’s so used to her _professionalism_ that it’s almost as if she is still performing & the public eye is there to watch her expressions closely even when no one is there to criticize her. an extremely uncomfortable and unrealistic dilemma to be put in, right?) • hyein has a princess syndrome, because while always trying to dress up & be her prettiest self for the fans, she forgets reality and confuses herself with fairytales. (snow white, sleeping beauty, and the revenant references) - this also reminds me of (g)-idle’s ‘nxde’ especially the line “put on my beautiful self” as idols when what actually want is to bare their souls, show their authentic self more even when they get hated for it) • haerin - ever since debut, both fans and non-fans have said haerin looks like a cat _so much_ that she actually starts to believe she’s a cat • minji is the unofficial leader of the group (there are no positions in nwjns, but a lot of people, and myself included, think she has leadership qualities) and she’s the oldest. so she’s been known to take care of her members very well. hence, her thinking she is a doctor who’s under pressure to take care of her members.” we can also see that in 2:17, she finally decided to check up on her own self too. she needs someone to attend to her needs as well since she is also still young. when people are constantly telling idols what they should do & how to behave/having such audacity to dictate their lives, it will eventually get _into_ them. there is a chance that they may actually, subconsciously, start _believing them._ (this also reminds me of _the rise of bangtan ep 4_ or also known as the times where namjoon expressed his crisis of how he wrestled with his own thoughts that deals with the society’s opinion about him & idols in general, and how he also came up with the resolution of why would he even tried so hard to categorize & box his identity if he is an idol or an artist, when he can just be _himself_ without confinements). because by projecting things towards these artists & feel the need to tweak almost everything about them can be equal to insisting that they should replace their real selves in order to please us just because we are the source of their income and we are the ones making them relevant; which *ironically* made us become deeply into them and stan them in the first place because there are parts of them that are authentic... that are ‘very human’ which are relatable. and when hanni said, *_“now i am ashamed that i was worried. it doesn’t matter who i am anymore. i exist for you.”_* it’s just heartbreaking. because there are k-pop idols who feel sorry and people even guilt trip them when they are expressing their honest feelings. it’s sad that when they finally choose to share their genuine concerns, the public tends to deem them as ungrateful for all the platform, fame/success, support, and all those other things they have - _as if all these things would immune them from feeling empty or restless_ from doing what they used to be passionate about for a long time. when they are being invalidated, eventually, they may perceive that voicing out their thoughts and emotions are pointless since they are always available for fans, but they rarely get to have someone who will listen to them & hold space for them. (it honestly kinda reminds me of the same dilemma in singularity by taehyung. the lyrics *_“i don’t have a voice,”_* *_“i dumped myself into the lake, i buried my voice for you”_* & *_“have i lost myself or have i gained you”_* this is important because as a singer, his voice is what defines him. a symbol of his identity, if you will. it could be interpreted as them sacrificing their real voice and identity in order to please us. or the later half of bts festa 2022 where they’ve expressed their dilemmas when they are experiencing burn out. taehyung even said, “i’ve wanted to show the things that are inside me for a long time now. *_at some point, having these thoughts started to feel wrong. i became cautious in even mentioning the things i’ve wanted to try._* and it was hard to even say that i’m going to try it.” or when hobi said, _“so i hope you don’t see this as a negative thing.”,_ “i hope you’ll understand”.)_ stans (and even the industry itself) have the tendency to feel entitled & therefore, demand such unnecessary things from them. things which *don’t* really lessen their musicality/artistry, other skills, and *worth.* they are being subjected to be stripped off their basic rights just for the entertainment & the audience’s attachment to them which we already know are harmful _(e.g., fans are very much enticed to fall in love with them but idols themselves are not allowed to fall in love or being frowned upon & lose support if ever they are involved in dating scandals or they themselves openly admit that someone else’s already own their heart & thus, they’re not available anymore which will crash the fantasies of delusional individuals out there and companies who profit from them being marketed as fans’ potential romantic partners/close friends/family i.e. parasocial relationships)._ but sometimes, things still need to be put into perspective. this visual presentation & social commentary is truly top tier that we all should learn from & be _more_ mindful of. otherwise, we would all collectively loose our minds without even knowing it. and just go back from “it is what it is” since such unhealthy perception & treatment has always been the norms - especially in the industry that people mostly often apply the “they’re just doing their job” notion & forgot that they are also human beings like us. “i think the team at ador & hybe are VERY self aware of media and newjeans’ market. they know what people say about newjeans!! this is their first comeback and only 5 months since their debut & they’re already _challenging_ the industry and doing callbacks to their debut! a MASTERPIECE of a music video & the song is 10/10! i love the breaking of the 4th wall, i love how they called out their haters at the end of the video, i love hanni dressed as steve jobs. i mean, this video has it all: humor, weird/quirkyness, references, callbacks, serious topic(s), lore, introspection, thought-provoking...” the only one i’ve experienced who goes with _this kind_ of depth, substance, socio-psychological commentaries and other related issues & therefore has that replay value _ever since_ day 1/debut, is bts. so experiencing the craft of newjeans: the concepts & rich message they’re going for so far is both nostalgic and refreshing in today’s era saturated of only aesthetically-focused content without that much of a substance. and the fact that they are doing both is chef’s kiss. sorry if this is long-winded. i just can’t express enough how this is just so promising at all levels. p.s. all the references i’ve mentioned that i personally find relatable to one another are just based on my background as a psych major, my prior exposure to k-pop culture, those similar patterns i’ve observed in how the industry works, and even just from individuals i’ve encountered/get to experience daily (how they turn their thoughts & emotions into art.) thanks for checking out new jeans!

I have a theory that still doesn't have all puzzle pieces. I think they really are those things but Ban Heesoo is re-creating them as human beings in her mind. Ban Heesoo is the mental patient and she is struggling between her own fantasy and reality. So taking my theory: Minji IS the doctor Hanni IS Heesoo's phone you see ringing in the "Ditto" Video when she's in her room and the phone is ringing. Not really sure what Dani is yet, but maybe we will get a glimpse of it in the future. Haerin IS Heesoo's cat, or a street cat that Heesoo is/was fond of. Now this is where it gets a little creepy, but I think Hyein could be a friend at school that was caught in a bicycle accident. That's why she is a ghost. Heesoo also hints that Hyein's bicycle was 'red the other day' in her youtube channel video description. So maybe Ban Heesoo is taking the 5 things that are/were most important to her, and creating a fantasy which are "New Jeans".

In a recent interview, Shin Woo-Seok( Ditto's and OMG's director, also in the MV at 4:45 :')) basically explained OMG's MV. Here's an excerpt bc I feel like this makes everything so clear: "When we first began to work on our first project together (Ditto), Min Hee-jin (NJ's CEO/Producer) said that it would be best if we get to know more about the kids' personalities, so she set up a meeting over dinner and invited us to join them during practice at Ador. It was so great to see these kids called NJ have such creative imagination and are allowed to freely expressed themselves at Ador [...] But as idols, they are also living in the public eye, meaning whatever they do, however innocent, is constantly being put under a microscope and being (mis)interpreted in various ways [...] They might be carefree kids who are able to think freely *now*, but what would happen when they lose their identity being exposed to so much criticism and misperception? THEORY: As idols, NJ were constantly being told who they were/how they should act. They became confused, lost track of who they actually were and started thinking they were different things/people (Hanni: "I'm starting to get confused between 'what others say about me' and 'the real me'") Hanni - being told "I exist only for you... Only/always there when you need me ... Sing for you ... Listen to you" > thought this meant she was an iPhone/Siri Same with other members Also it ties in well with Ditto, as it also explored the relationship between NJ & audience (only in Ditto, the audience is the fan, so they are seen in a more favorable/loving light)

The meaning of this OMG music video is that all 5 members are patients in a mental hospital. The first patient is Hanni, but she thinks she has an iPhone, that is, Shiri. If you change the Korean letters on the iPhone, it means idol, but I was confused because idols have to come when fans call, sing the songs they want to hear, and listen to fans' demands. The second patient is Daniel, and she is always smiling positively even when watching the TV with the screen turned off. The third is Minji. this is my take on it- the music video was just a camp way of expressing the idol's side of the parasocial relationship between an artist and a fan. hanni's monologue in the beginning really brings that to light: "when you call me, i will run to you anytime anywhere. i exist for you" it brings the concern of artists having to exist only for the fans- they're trying to say they're *real* people too. she's an "iphone", basically a metaphor for being a person who has to run and be 'on' when the button (app) is pushed. danielle is very smily/bubbly type of person. fans always comment on her happy attitude and when she's watching the tv static and laughing at it, i think it shows that she's stuck in the label that people cast on her. so she's just laughing at nothing in that scene. hyein has princess syndrome, because while always trying to dress up and be her prettiest self for the fans, she forgets reality and confuses herself with fairytales. (snow white, sleeping beauty, and the revenant references) haerin- ever since debut, fans and nonfans have said haerin looks like a cat so much that she actually starts to believe she's a cat. minji is the unofficial leader of the group (there are no positions in nwjns, but a lot of people and myself included think she has leadership qualities) and she's the oldest. so she's been known to take care of her members very well. hence her thinking she is a doctor who's under pressure to take care of her members. i think the team at ador and hybe are VERY self aware of media and newjeans' market. they know what people say about newjeans!! this is their first comeback and only 5 months since their debut and they're already challenging the industry and doing callbacks to their debut! a MASTERPEICE of a music video, and the song is 10/10! i love the breaking of the 4th wall, i love how they called out their haters at the end of the video, i love hanni dressed as steve jobs. i mean, this video has it all- humor, weird/quirkyness, references, callbacks, serious topic, lore, introspection, thought provoking... no one is doing it like newjeans. i mean that literally, this has never been done before.

Here I'll share some of my thoughts, From what I see, this mv is for dig deeper to each member personality in this ditto/ ban heeso universe lore The context: Here there are 2 possibilty. 1. ban heeso is lonely, and the newjeans is just imaginary. 2. the newjeans is from different dimensions/time that in touch with ban heeso from 1998. (Just like the movie ditto) You can see from the "ban heeso" yt channel, she mention some of the newjeans personality in the vid descriptions. From what I can clearly catch: -Hyein: ban heeso wrote: "her princess syndrome is getting worse, she keep asking where to buy glass slippers i hate it." (it's a friendly way of saying that this person/she thinks she is a princess.. but, turn out from this video.. she thinks she is a cinderilla/snow white.. it seems kinda serious, especially with the omg mv vibe😭) -hanni: Ban heeso wrote: "she finally bought a cell phone." Turns out hanni in this omg mv thinks she is an iphone/ siri.. (ya'll idk how to respond😭) -haerin: Ban heeso said: "you're a kitty kang" Turns out in this mv the same cat appeared, and haerin act like a cat 😭 -minji (I still didn't have any clue, but I think she have some complex consciousness going on in her head.. she is still in some denial too 🧐) -Danielle (Still not sure.. i think she has a hobby of watching movie or story and being too much into it until she felt like she's inside the movie?? 🧐) but yk what.. i saw a video on how danielle represents all the idols and that how they have to be laughing or smiling whenever the camera's are on.....or atleast what people think of what an idol's life would be...but then in the video she thinks she's an idol and part of NJ for minji...she's actually a patient who thinks that she's a doctor and she thinks that it is her job to look after everyone haerin thinks that she's a cat which is why you'll see the other 4 members looking at a cat (haerin) and which is why she eats 'cat food' hyein thinks she's a princess and has a beauty and beast scenario and other princesses like snow white (haerin giving her the apple like in the story) hanni compares herself to an iphone and thinks that here purpose is to help other people around her and do everything for them Not entirely sure if this is right tho

Someone on another video said Ditto and OMG both stand for the parasocial relationship between idols and fans with Ditto being the perspective of the fan. And Heesoo(the girl filming) being so fixated on New Jean's as their favorite group they ignore reality and miss out on a lot of moments but then come to realize that they need to touch grass and build some real life relationships which is what they did with the boy in the MV and once they realized that they no longer saw New Jean's. But they also acknowledged that they liked them at some point in time and in the Side B MV she crashed the camera when she no longer needed them and at the end you can see them watching the clips they recorded. In OMG it is from the idols perspective and all the girls are seeing the world through what their fans associate them w like for example ppl believe Minji is the mom which is why she believes she believes she's the doctor and not a patient and Hanni believes she is an iPhone bc fans said she spoils comebacks (not in a negative way) and usually she gives just enough to get an idea but still keeps the privacy just like an iPhone which let's users access tons of information but is also known for having high privacy as well. Haerin believes she's a cat bc fans always say she has cat like characteristics. Danielle is known as the most excited and bubbly member which is why she is seen in the MV laughing at the blank TV bc she is a happy person and easily excited. Hyein is called the princess which is why she believes she's in a fairytale and has a princess complex. Also this MV is just showing that everyone is mentally I'll in their own way like the doctor towards the end sees the drawings coming to life and the keyboard warrior at the end spreading a hate comment and Minji says their time is up which is basically a wakeup call saying they need to go outside and touch some grass lol

Para mí el vídeo es un guiño al espectador diciéndonos que las chicas sí existen pero no el mundo de Ditto, sino como el girlgroup que todos conocemos y que nos ha ayudado como fanáticos con su refrescante música. Sin embargo, ciertas circunstancias las llevaron a perder la memoria y con ello, sus identidades. Minji cree ser doctora y a lo largo del vídeo vemos cómo ella cree ser la que lleva a NEWJEANS al psiquiátrico, Hanni cree ser un iPhone, Hyein cree ser una princesa o personaje de drama que extraña su vida en los cuentos de hadas, Haerin cree ser un gato y por eso cuando NEWJEANS ve un gato solo hay 4 miembros. Finalmente, Danielle es el personaje que se "encarga" de decirles la verdad a los miembros, incluso vemos cómo rompe la 4ta pared para demostrarlo, pero sus intentos fueron en vano, porque al igual que las demás miembros está en un psiquiátrico con sus compañeras. Al final del vídeo vemos cómo una persona está escribiendo una crítica poco amable en contra de NEWJEANS, esto me recordó a la vez que los fanáticos del kpop acusaron que las letras y el concepto de NEWJEANS no eran adecuados para unas menores de edad y se dijo que HYBE había lanzado un grupo de chicas con un concepto bastante cuestionable, por lo tanto, cuando llega Minji (doctora) a buscar al "hater" básicamente es como si NEWJEANS les dijera a todos ellos: Tú también debes ir a ver al psiquiatra, chico loco. Creo que el doctor (no recuerdo el nombre del actor) es el chico que a Ban Heesoo (la chica que graba en Ditto) le gustaba, y ahora es un hombre cuya imaginación ha reprimido (representando a las personas en general que quizás han perdido sus esperanzas, sueños y alegrías) y que a lo largo de su vida profesional ha observado a muchos pacientes de toda clase, pero vió gracias a las chicas la posibilidad de poder volver a imaginar, soñar y creer nuevamente. Es por eso que al final vemos a un doctor más joven (metáfora que hace referencia a una persona más alegre) con el cuaderno de Haerin, imaginando por cuenta propia un mundo parecido al que dibujó ella, dando a entender que todos podemos dejar a volar nuestra imaginación, aún siendo personas que creen que perdieron la capacidad de volver a soñar.
