Always fit good quality links as the cheap ones only lasted me 3 months.
I discovered you can change these drop links without jacking up or removing the wheels.
It took me about an hour as the extra time it takes undoing the nuts is saved by not removing the wheels.
Turn the steering on full lock and you can get to the nuts while laying on the floor.
Remove the top joint first as it helps with removing the bottom one.
I found replacing the nearside easier probably because I'm right handed.
I bought a pair of droplinks off eBay for £11 but they only lasted 3 months.
This is quite an easy job and stops that annoying knocking noise.
Although this was done on a 2008 1.7CDTi Corsa it should be the same for most of the Vauxhall range

Probably one of the best done how to videos iv seen. Shame he doesn't do it anymore. Camera work and closeups are really good. I watched all of it even though I just wanted a reminder as it has been a while since I needed to do this. Well done mate.

I had to buy an angle grinder and a 30mtr extension lead just to reach it in the street. Angle grinder went through the bolt in seconds, one of the best things ive bought, only £18 from Argos - cheapo make. Thanks for the video - its great, very good quality and well produced - glad to see theres still people in the world who help others out like this guy has

I've just had the offside sway bar link replaced today after a month of back and forth to garages to figure out what the creaking/knocking noise was. Went to one particular garage and they got it on the first check! Car is lovely and quiet now 😀 it's cool to see what the part looks like so thanks for your video! It's very well done!!

nice and clear video, howeverit must be noted that very few of these links will be as clean and corrosion free as this. Most will be well seized and may, in extreme cases, require cutting off with a grinder. My suggestion is always use axle stands, good quality penetrating fluid and use lots of bad language...works everytime for me. Thanks for the clear vid

Easily the best video on this matter. It is an obvious job and many videos explain it quite good around KZbin, but this one´s got to be the best by far.

Excellent tutorial. Good clear instructions, tooling, camera angles, lighting, and editing. As others may have commented, try this job at home, but don't be surprised if the drop-link nuts are seized tight and require cutting off using a grinder. Just remember to cut through the threaded bar of the old drop-link and save the actual nuts for reinstatement... assuming the new drop-links come without nuts.

This helped me with mine, a vw polo. Didn't need to take the wheels off either, just jacked up the frame slightly at the opposite end to relieve the pressure on the roll bar. Thanks very much!

thanks for the vid man. I bought a used Astra (same car different name) I'm here In the states. I received mine used but in near mint condition I used Moog sway bar links. I also used a quick pump 3ton Jack instead of the GM jack. now that the car is 10 years old I would recommend pb blast and saturate the bolts for 30 min tap the nut/bolt with hammer a few times spray again and the old nuts twist right off. atleast they did for me. thanks again great vid.

Excellent video. I like the way no special tools are used, just the stuff anyone would have. I would use axle stands and a trolley jack, but then some folks beginning d.i.y. wont have them. Well done...and thanks for taking the time to do this.

Thanks for the video. This is very similar to our 2007 VW Passat. We had a hard time getting the old link bolts out due to it needed a 12 point key in the center of the bolt. Nothing a good pair of "Vise-grips" on the shaft of the bolt to help keep it in place while struggling to get the nut loose. Took 2 hours overall due to the removal of the old one.

cool thanks for the reply. I'm currently replacing these on a Toyota Avensis 2001. Completely different links to yours but the idea is the same. I'm having difficultly replacing the top nut on the link as the thread has an allen key slot to prevent turning while loosening the bolt. The allen key slot is worn and have no way to remove the bolt as a result. any ideas?
