In this week's episode, Patrick and Stuart have more antique items for the chateau that they won from a recent auction that featured items from the historic Château de Soulgé. Visiting château patron and friend Gonnie from the Netherlands helps to unpack all these new acquisitions for the Château de Colombe. Gonnie also has a beautiful monogrammed gift for the chateau dining room.

Change the purpose of the soup bowls to salad bowls and you'll use them much more frequently and get to enjoy them. I vary all kinds of uses for my china. They could even make a nice pasta dish. Good find!

Beautiful table wear . I still have all our family's old games and my now grown up children still love playing them every Christmas we still play games together. Each year I try and find an old game to add to our collection. My 4 children's partners were suprised and delighted that we always make Christmas about family and play games TV isn't on . If you want to restore the little lid with the broken knob you can use a product called Milliput. It is a two component epoxy putty that you can knead into shape and it sticks to your damaged porcellain and becomes hard and waterproof. I used it a lot on damaged old earthenware and china. You can get it in various colors, white, blue, silver, terracotta, yellow and black and you can even mix them to get other colors. It is not expensive and really great stuff, even sticks on wood if you want to restore a missing piece of woodcarving.

Love the collection of china - how fun to go through them all, regardless of the "extra spices". LOL 😂 I was always scared to that the plate hangers off. I once had my hand cut badly because one spring off the plate and whipped right into my hand. I have never seen a cake stand on the wall either. I have a soft spot for cake stands. I would take a picture of the patterns and keep them on your phone because one day you could be at a brocante and find a piece to go with them. The curtain has a lovely pattern, it will be so lovely when hung. The vanity is delightful! It really is so usable because it has lots of usable space. The gaming stuff is so fun! I am so bad at games, dyslexia and dyscalculia didn't help LOL 😂

Good morning Patrick & Stuart, The chateau de Soulge looks so beautiful and the mazing trees on the property, I wish that woman all the best. She has set a target hopefully she will reach it! Again, the items you bought are fabulous, such beautiful porcelain, a good ice breaker at the table, I was thinking, it will be so smart with a view candles and flowers. The 'old' stuff is so grand. I find with the cotton fabric after washing to iron whilst still damp and believe it or not, starch it lightly!! Yes, I can't believe I thought of starch, still iron whilst damp. Why I mentioned this, I don't know as you are on top of all your house projects, but there you go. I looked at the 'dirty' plates and thought, a bit of soaking in some hot soapy water and they will be as clean as a whistle. Soap and water works for everything. Your Dutch visitor looks so nice and I can picture her here in S. Africa. So many people of Europe came to settle here, so I am quite familiar with their looks and their culture. Life can be so interesting, it depends how we view things. That vanity table is so nice, a bit of sanding or cleaning will make it looks brand new. How about placing that in your project room you are working on right now. It is such a space saver, and it looks delicate, so it won't be in use every day of the year. My husband and I have just come back from a week on our boat on the Thames. It was lovely but trying to watch KZbin on an iPhone is not ideal!!! I’d never have been able to appreciate the beautiful painting on the plates or that curtain so it was nice to catch up on a decent screen on the bathroom wallpapering and tonight’s vlog!

I love the crockery and absolutely love the games!! I have never seen a chess for 4 even though we play chess. In fact my partner has played high level for many years and he has also not heard of such a board. You are never to old to learn. 😮

Wonderful dishes! My Grandpa made terrific soups esp. chicken soup so over the years the soup bowls all broke. I broke the last one and I was so sad. 😢 The Metropolitan Museum in NYC has a similar pondreuse, vanity or dressing table for hair brushes, combs, mirror & makeup. It is stunning. And I love the games set. Fun. 😘😘

Those dishes are lovely, and the tablecloth too. Perhaps one could place a darker under (charger) plate so as to show off the plates even more? Am looking forward to seeing the finished bathroom as well. SOOOOOO MUCH TO DO!!!! Hang in there!

What glorious plates! Just beautiful! I really love old skool deep dishes, especially for autumn and winter, they are not for soups at my place but used for pasta, for swedish knödel, great for your Schwein haxe, your Coque au Vin, your Bœuf Bourguignon, Bouillabaisse and any yummy stew, tagine with couscous, you name it! I use mine alot, although the huge set is now kindof worn to oblivion (I'd loooovebto find a better replacement in France omg...). A big smack on your bottoms for not showing the fabric properly! It looked divide the very little I could see of it, I really want to see a good slow closeup of the pattern, it's so pretty! 😭 You should send for a goid quality Kintsugi set to have on hand! It makes the cracks and chips part of the art! Also, don't use old wirehangers. They are often the cause of the cracks as they arent padded where the wire holds the plate, invest in good flexy hangers that dont have metal directly on the pressure points of your plates. The linnen table cloth was beautiful and went perfectly with the Faïance! You should make your own lovely linnen napkins to go with the beautiful pottery. Bye some damaged white or unbleached linnen damast table cloths, when there's a stain or two they're dirst cheap. Buy a few in the same color (different damast patterrns dont matter, actually looks nice in candle light) and cutnthem to a good size and trim with good maschine washable lace or ribbon (or both) in colors that coordinate with the sets for a matching pop of color. If you dont want white napkins you can dye them in a color from the painted plates and trim with off white instead. Great project for a rainy day before Christmas preparations! What a brave young lady taking on a dilapidated 14th century chateau! Hope we get to meet her down the line! It's hovering around zero C here, a few plus in daytime and biting winds. This series of ornithological plates is a great find, .. what year is it? Wouldn't this table with the mirror be a very popular dressing table under Louis XVI !! .. in any case, congratulations for these acquisitions

The plates are from between 1890 and 1910….. so they are old. 😮. The dressing tables like this were popular between 1660 and 1840 as far as we found. Gorgeous. Huge thank you. ❤😊❤
