I do love the way you antique with the two waxes. I think it looks much more professional than any other way I have seen with two waxes. Some people really overdo the use of the waxes and it looks really dirty and worse than when they started.

Question- if you are doing kitchen cabinets should I do a couple coats of light wax , for durability then add the dark wax for detail? I've heard that extra coats of wax help with keeping maths and water stains at bay.

I am going to use a blue stain. I am looking for a white wax (or best option) that will give me a white two toned finish. What wax would you suggest?

I love your products and love how my chest turned out using your paint and waxes. Really gave it an antiqued finish. But I am wondering what I should do to get rid of the tacky finish from the wax? It feels a little tacky to the touch even though it's been several days. Should I buff it with a tshirt rag?

Mine is sticky too. When I watch Annie Sloan videos she says that is from too much wax but I don't know how to use any less than I'm using. I'm 100% following these instructions and it's still sticky.

You have a much better grasp on the aesthetics of layering the different tones to create a natural, gorgeous patina. Most wax tutorials have the applier being grossly heavy-handed to the point it looks like someone took a tube of black auto grease to their furniture and convinced themselves it looks good.

I had the volume off and turned the CC on as not to wake my husband and it is hilarious. I got the gist of the waxing technique - great job there - but I think it was a seven minute and thirty-nine second run-on sentence.

You can use a Clean Slate to remove the wax and you can sand and strip off the paint before redoing everything.

After adding your dark wax and buffing out the finish, can you add additional coats of the clear for added protection?

Once you get the kitchen cabinets all finished and you use your kitchen with normal wear with cooking grease, fingerprints, etc. how do you clean this type of finish???

2bless8 Arrh It's best to use an acrylic enamel. I just sprayed my cabinets with the Sherwin Williams Pro Classic II and it's amazing. You can scrub away after it's cured and it holds up amazingly well. It rolls nice as well if you tip it off with a brush although be warned that it is a different beast when brushing!

@ Grover Murray: Did you use a gloss or semi gloss or satin finish acrylic enamel?
@grovermurray7122
@grovermurray7122 7 жыл бұрын
I used a semi-gloss because I was looking for a satin finish, but still be able to easily wipe it. The SW Pro Classic tends to dry one sheen less than what you bought. If you want true semi-gloss, get gloss.

I don't know why I couldn't use the one step chalk paint for the cabinets and then put an acrylic finish over the top instead of the wax which I am not too sure about.

When you tell people a step is important like, never use dark wax without the light wax first, you also need to tell them why.

What a waste of wax. Also shouldn't tell your viewers their ruining their pieces by sanding just because you don't like the way it looks. Everyone likes different looks.

Seriously, why in the world would I spend all that money on this wax to put 3/4 of it on a piece of cardboard?!? Also, I got the can of antique wax, and it doesn’t say anywhere on it that you can’t use it without another wax. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️
@rizdraver
@rizdraver 3 жыл бұрын
@@sarahglenn3709 I think she meant ONLY using a DARK wax causes too much contrast and texture (I've seen some really bad DIY vids illustrating this). It often looks like dirt rather than a subtle scintillating with the lighter brown to look like real dimensional layers of patina.

@@justoserv Mine got too hard. I've had it a couple of years. The light wax was fine though. The dark wax was starting to get crumbly and hard to distribute on the brush I used it.. It turned into a big mess for me. I used the light wax to go in to remove some and even it out. Too spotchy. I can tell already I am going to have to take some super fine steel wool on it to remove more. So frustrating.
