Lovely video! The utensil with the two long prongs is for carving meat, you hold the roast in place with that, and use the carving knife with your other hand. I remember my grandfather using one when we visited for Sunday dinner

The meat fork you found, we had one when I was growing up. It was originally my great grans one. I never knew what the flappy bit was for, I just remember it was just fun to play with. My nana got rid of all the old stuff like that she had when she moved house about 10 years ago and we didn't get there in time to rescue anything before she biffed it all. She had even more amazing antiques years before that but smashed them and threw most stuff out in a huge fit of rage over something. Wonderful woman, honest.

When I was a kid, I lived in a fairly remote corner of Western Styria, which is full of meadows with apple trees. The apples are small and very sour, so the farmers there make tons of cider out of it, which must be classified as "brut" (= extremely dry and sour).

Bourton on the Water! I haven't been there since I was 14 and I remember loving it. I stayed there in a small hotel with my parents and French exchange girl. Brings back memories seeing you in that area. My mother also spent time in the Cotswolds as a young girl. ❤

I absolutely loved this video! They yummy treats,the antiques,showing us this town, and most of all seeing you spending time with your baby, it warmed my heart so much. My mom and dad would do the same with us, but here in the U.S.A we call it flea markets. My mom had so much fun bidding on antique items, I remember once she had gotten a little tipsy and she was with my dad and she raised to make a bid, and I’m not sure if you see it but the man holding auction was speaking fast and then my mom raised her hand again And I kid you not in the the Auctioneer stop speaking fast and said to my mom “Ma’am you already made a bet and it’s the highest right now, you don’t have to bet against yourself unless you want to pay more” and my mom laughed and my was girl what are you doing everyone and my mom had a good laugh. Moral of the story don’t make tipsy bets at a Auction 😆 Thank you again for your video I love it. 🍏 🍻 Pleasant surprise: I also prefer extra dry Cider. It's true, ciders vary greatly and even taste different at different temperatures: can be fun to sip at them as they change from cold to cool to room temp. Enjoy your hunt!

Fun fact! I purchased my black cauldron in a little antiques place in Bourton on the Water. It was very dark in there so perhaps the 2nd one you went to. This was about 20 years ago though so it may be different now.

I heard from the KZbin channel toldinstone that you can get cheaper roman coins if they are still coveted in dirt and minerals. They can be cleaned to see more detail and he does have a video on how to clean roman coins. Very cool find!

About your love for dry cider: Have you tried "Most" back, when you were living in Germany? It's like cider (also made mostly from apples, or in some cases from pears), but the liquid isn't as clear, as cider, it's more "mirky" and unlike most of the "typical" British Ciders, it's typically very dry. Which is why i personally don't like it at all. 😅 I'm the complete opposite of you, when it comes to wine and cider...i like it really fruity and sweet, which is why i much prefer the "British Cider" or the French "Cidre" to our German "Most". But i think you might really enjoy it! However, i think "Most" might only be really a thing in the Southwest of Germany, where i live (Baden-Württemberg) and also in Hessen, but there it's called "Äppelwoi/ Ebbelwoi" = "Apfelwein" = "Apple Wine". Antique shops in the US often sell stuff from the 1900s. I think I've lucked out to find something from the Art Deco era. Most of our "antiques" are just old junk no one wants anymore. Roman coins?!! Victoria tea cups? What! That stuff would be in museums here!
